SUB-PARIKSHA PE CHARCHA COMPETITION

ASPIRE NOT TO BE,BUT TO DO!

IF THERE WERE NO RESTRICTION ON RESOURCES OR OPPORTUNITIES,
WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR THE SOCIETY AND WHY?

Everyone wants to achieve something big in life.We all want to become successful and lead a
happy and peaceful life.We all have been taught by our parents ever since we were born to
become a big professional. But wait a minute!Do you just want to 'become a professional' for the
mere sake of earning your keep and do everything for 'only yourself?'

When I asked my friend about her choice of career, she promptly replied-"I want to become
a doctor. This has been my dream since I was small." Many of us dream of becoming a big and
successful human being from our childhood; sometimes just because our elders tell us to do so
.But remember one thing here that at that point of time when we were being told by our elders to
become a doctor, engineer, scientist, etc we all were really unaware of our own choices and
interests.

However, now is the time when we all have different views about the world and about all
the opportunities awaiting for us and we can make a really good choice. But here I would like to
tell you all that don't just dream of becoming something.Aspiring to become something may
mislead you. However, aspiring to do something may lead you!The desire to do something that is
fueled by your natural instincts will lead you to your true destiny! Therefore, stop aspiring to
become something and start aspiring to 'do something.'

What would 'aspire to do something' mean?In simple terms it expresses the fact of going
out of the box and serving the greater half of the society and help it to progress at a faster
pace. After I told my friend to aspire to do something ,she got a perfect answer-"I aspire to
address human health issues and contribute in resolving them." In a similar manner,we all must
aspire to do something for the betterment of our society and its people. If you want to fight for the
nation and protect it from foreign powers, you should go in the army.If you want to give your part
in developing the software technology of our country ,you should become a software engineer. If
you want to entertain people, you should become an actor. There are a lot of opportunities in the
world ahead that await to be explored. So start exploring your inner self and interests and do not
aspire to become something;Aspire to do something! And then decide your career according to
your aspirations.Aspire not to have more, but to be more!
It would be a great and wonderful world indeed if there were no restrictions on resources
and opportunities. One can do many things in such a situation. There would be nothing to stop
you from achieving something you aspire and you would easily gain anything you want. But what
after you become the person you desired to be?What will you do for not just your own benefit
but for the overall growth and development of everyone within the society?

We all shall give our best part in developing the society and help it grow further. We must
nurture it and make certain reforms required for the overall development of our country.
Whatever you want to become and do, never forget one thing that it is this society that has
actually made us.So it really makes sense if I pose a question whether you should return
something positive to the society.Well, in the previous decades,we have given not development
but destruction to the society. And here we are today facing a lot many problems because our
karma. Why not make amends then?Just give your best towards the society and extend yourself
from that selfish arena.Think of how best you can make a difference to the society and let that
ideal guide you!

If there were no obstacles on my path of achievements,I could truly contribute my best

towards the society. My first major aim would be to address the issue of population. Our country
can prosper only if we give our efforts towards changing the liabilities of our country into true
assets.I would invest resources in providing quality education to each and everyone. There are a
lot of things one can learn by going into school. One can learn the basic things that are needed
at every point of life and can also build a foundation of strength for facing the life problems by
going to schools and then gaining higher education. This would indeed solve many of our
problems and help our youths to prosper rapidly.

I would then use the resources in providing proper healthcare to all my people. No matter
how good you can do in anything, unless you are malnourished and unhealthy you can really do
nothing and that stops you from reaching the great heights of the successful sky.I would teach
everyone about the basic hygiene that we all should maintain especially to the women and this
education would reduce the health problems of our society to a much larger extent.

I would then give my part in developing and addressing the problems related with agriculture
which provides employment to 60% of our population. There is a need for quick reforms in the
primary sector and to support the farmers deal with their problems.I would use a better part of
resources in reducing the heavy dependence of rural people on informal sector loans. Many of
the villagers especially farmers borrow from the money-lenders, rich farmers, etc against high
interest rates and due to the inability of farmers to return such a huge amount become victims of
debt. This would be reduced by increasing the formal sector loans- establishing banks, Gramin
Banks, cooperative societies for the rural poor that would help in their development.

I would make the best use of the opportunities in educating and strengthening women in
particular. I would play my part in women empowerment and do something to increase the
condition of rural women who still live trapped in the homes;cooking and serving the family and
doing the household chores. Many women have no doubt prospered in today's world and
women empowerment has come a long way in India. But there is still a long way to go and we
all can together let this happen.

I would also play a part in increasing India's economy and strengthening it .I would promote
the local handicrafts and many such hidden gems in our country. There is a vast growth potential
in India ranging from cultural diversities to geographical variations which can be made the best
use of . This can be done by increasing the tourism sector. Well, if we really look into our
country there is so much to see mountains, desert ,historical
monuments, museums, seas, forests, beaches and there are so many beautiful places one can
visit. I will do my best part in increasing the beauty of all these majestic and glorious locations
and rocketing the tourism of India.

However all our efforts would go in vain if we keep our country dirty. There are still streets
covered with plastic and garbage. All I will do is to educate the people of its consequences and
make India a better place to live.

A person with an empty stomach is likely to indulge in malpractices such as gambling

,corruption, etc. and this creates social unrest in the economy .This major problem is also due to
unemployment.
Because of the free resources I would establish many industries and encourage the people to
join in work .This would increase their condition eventually.

I would really like to do many things for the society if this thing happens.so I would like to
conclude that no matter what you achieve what you aspire to be or how famous and powerful
you become. The most important thing is whether you are excited about each and every
moment of your life because of your work and people around you.I would henceforth aspire to
do my best and contribute everything I could do to the development of my India!
Vande Mataram!

Thank You!
Nidhi Mhaiskey.
