1. Module Overview
Projects are becoming critical vehicles for achieving strategic objectives of organizations and project
management is gaining legitimacy as an established profession. This course exposes students to
concepts, theories, techniques and behavioral models which successful project managers use in
creating and implementing projects in organizations. We particularly emphasize on knowledge and
skills that are used by project managers to propose, plan, secure resources, budget, and lead project
teams to successfully complete their projects.
2. Module Objective
After completing this course, students are expected to use concepts, tools, and techniques in the
process of initiating, planning, implementing, and terminating projects successfully.

Cost estimation and budgeting (Pinto Chapter 8)
Project scheduling: networks, duration estimation, and critical path (Chapter 9)
Project scheduling: lagging, crashing, and activity networks (Chapter 10)
Resource management (Chapter 12)
Project evaluation and control (Chapter 13)
Project closeout and termination (Chapter 14)
4. Pedagogy
Students are highly encouraged to draw on their project related experiences and link the concepts
and techniques to be discussed in the module with such backgrounds. Considering the
heterogeneity of students’ undergraduate and work-related experiences, a common textbook is
adopted for the module. However, additional readings are highly encouraged and recommended.
Attendance is compulsory.
