CAN-BUS USB INTERFACE
MCFG SETUP
First we have to install drivers for CAN to USB adapter, which we can find on original CD
that is added with CAN – BUS interface. Drivers for CAN – BUS interface are also on
MEDICOP CD (vci_3_2_2_2098). Then we connect CAN – BUS/USB to PC.
CAN-BUS INTERFACE
Connect CAN/BUS – USB interface with supply connection board on MEDICAN (red mark
on picture below). CAN cable in added by MEDICOP. If the interface is connected
properly, a green LED (USB) should be turned on at interface.
IMPORTANT
Before we go to the MCFG installation the green LED (USB) must be turned on. If the red
LED is on, something is not OK with installation of CAN – BUS interface.

Install RUN TIME APPLICATION: LVRTE861STD that is added on MEDICOP CD. We
choose SETUP file, than we wait while program is installed. After we have installed MCFG
software, we run the program and perform working test for MCFG.
STEP
1 Press CONFIG tab
2 Press DISCOVER tab:
The serial number and SID

3 TIMEOUT (time of
discovering the MEDICAN
signalization) is factory set to
300ms.
If we have more than 20
MEDICAN signalization in
our network we have to
enlarge the TIMEOUT to
1000ms
SID and serial number should appear in the section that is shown on the next picture.
STEP
When serial and SID
number appears, the green
LED on CAN – BUS (CAN)
interface is blinking. That
means that data exchange
is in progress.

WHAT IF SERIAL NUMBER AND SID NUMBER DONT APPEAR

In case that serial and SID number don’t appear, something is not right with our
connections. On CAN – BUS interface (CAN) the reed LED is on.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1 Close the MCFG program
2 Check power supply of Control Closing Box
3 Check the attachments of CAN cable
After we have eliminated problems, we again run the MCFG program and repeat the
process of discovering the MEDICAN signalisations.
In CAN network we can have one or more MEDICAN signalisations. We can change
settings for each MEDICAN signalisation. In case that we have more than one
signalisation, we chose on which we want to make changes like is shown in the next
chapter.
We can change:
CHANGES
1 Configurations (number of gases, alarm settings…)
2 Languages
SID numbers – UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS (chapter about SID changes)
IMPORTANTE NOTICE
Because every customer can have his own requests about configurations,
changed files are send to the individual customer by e-mail or CD. (as
customer wants)

ERASING THE CONFIGURATINS
Before we can load new configurations, we must erase current settings.
Follow the steps:

1 First we chose the signalization
2 Then we press RESET TO
DEFAULT button
3 We confirm with OK
PROCEDURE EXECUTED – OK
After we confirm RESET
application the display of
signalization will be empty. After
that we have to wait that all LED
on signalization is ON.
IMPORTANTE NOTICE
We have to individual RESET each MEDICAN signalisation on which we
want to load new configurations.

LOADING NEW CONFIGURATINS
Follow the steps:

1 The chosen signalization is the
one on which we have perform
RESET
2 On disc of PC we browse NEW
configurations, which we have got
from MEDICOP on e-mail or on
CD.
The new configuration file name
starts with “doc”
After we have choose, file will
appear in MCFG window
3 Then we press button UPDATE
On the bottom of MCFG window
we can observe updating
progress.
After the updating progress is
complete, MEDICAN signalization
will automatically reset.
IMPORTANTE NOTICE
After we unplug the PC or we
close the MCFG program,
CAN ERR alarm will appear in
time of 1 min. on the
signalization. Reason for CAN
ERR alarm is unplugging the
PC from CAN network, but
have no influence on Control
Closing Box operating. We
turn of the alarm pressing the
MUTE BUTTON on
signalization like the picture
shows.

IMPORTANTE NOTICE
After we have updated signalisation with language, we circulating on
MEDICAN signalisation for some time that new language appears.

ABOUT SID NUMBERS
CHANGES
SID number is a name of individual MEDICAN signalisation – STATION ID. A unique
name (SID) is assigned by MEDICOP.
SID numbers have very important role by MEDICAN signalisations that ARE
CONNECTED to the CAN network. In that case is mandatory that each signalisation have
its own SID number. If two or more signalisations in CAN network will have the same SID
number, a problem will appear by data exchange.
In case that MEDICAN signalisations are NOT CONNECTED in CAN network, they can
have the same SID numbers.
When we have COPY of individual MEDICAN signalisation, we can talk about MOTHER –
DAUGHTER relationship. The original signalisation is MOTHER, copy is a DAUGHTER.
Daughter will show the same parameters that are shown by mother. Daughter looks on
mother SID number.
CHANGING SID NUMBERS
KIMPORTANTE NOTICE
We can change SID number only with the knowledge of
manufacturer – MEDICOP.
CAN network We can change SID number with number that no other MEDICAN
SID number signalization have. When we change SID for the first time, CAN
network will on principle work. If we want to change SID for the second
time or on primary (MEDICOP) number, or some other number, we
have to reset that signalization with disconnecting the power supply.
Otherwise, CAN network will not work.
MOTHER It is NOT ALLOWED to change SID number on MOTHER signalization;
DAUGHTER otherwise DAUGHTER will loss reference number from which she
SID numbers received information data for showing parameters.

When we will make some configuration changes, language or other parameters changes,
CLEARING
MEDICAN signalisation will notice. Disconnecting the PC, power supply...will be noticed
like some events on MEDICAN signalisation (CAN ERR...).
In this case is recommendable, that we erase those errors from LOGBOOK. By cleaning
LOGBOOK follow these steps.

IMPORTANTE NOTICE
After we cleaned LOGBOOK we must refresh MEDICAN display by circulation cross menu.
