WRITING an email
Read this email from Anna Jones, the organizer of a photography competition, and
the notes you have made.
New Message
Hi
Congratulations! You’ve won our photography
competition! Great!
Anna Jones
Hi Anna,
This is about the first note. Winning the competition was a wonderful surprise! I’ve
always wanted to go on a photography holiday.
TIPS
Read the email carefully.
Read the notes one by one and for each note, underline the
important words in the email. Underlining the key words will
remind you that you must use all the notes, and which part of
the email the note refers to.
Start with a friendly, informal greeting (Hi Anna,).
Write complete sentences and check that you are using the
correct form of verbs (present, past or future).
Don’t be afraid to use some interesting vocabulary and
expressions you know.
Make sure you write about 100 words. Try not to write fewer
than 90.
Useful language
Making a suggestion

We don’t we…?
How about….?
I think it would be a good idea to…
