Lesson 1: GAT English Version

Orientation of the Qudurat ( Qudrat)– GAT English version Test

What does “GAT” stand for?

GAT stands for “General Aptitude Test.”
What does the word “Aptitude” mean? The word aptitude means “ability” or “what you
can do.”
How much is the GAT worth in Saudi Universities? Some Saudi Universities count GAT test
scores as 30% and other universities count the scores as 40%. Your high school GPA ( Grade
point Average) and SAAT (if you have to take it) count/counts for the remaining 60-70% of
a university’s consideration as to whether they will admit a student.
How many hours is the GAT English version of this test? The test is three hours (3 hrs.)
How many parts does the test have? The test has two parts (the verbal and the quantitative
or math part).
How many questions does the test have? (120 questions total) The test has 68 questions in
the verbal part, and it has 52 questions in the quantitative or math part.
Are the questions “fill in the blank,” “multiple-choice,” or “essay questions?” All questions
are multiple-choice. Please be careful how you fill in the circles. Make sure you use a
number 2 (two) pencil and fill in the little circles like you are coloring them in. Be careful
that you do not color outside the line of the little circles. See below:

Please do not color outside of the circle. This answer can be marked wrong
because the test is being marked by a machine called a “Scantron Reader.”

What happens if you test the GAT English Version of the test and you score too low? No
problem, students can take the test again. The highest grade will be sent to universities
electronically.

What is the highest grade that I can get?

The highest grade you can get is “100”

If a student gets an 81% or higher on the test, then the student is considered to be at the
top 5%

If a student gets an 78% or higher on the test, then the student is considered to be at the
top 10%

If a student gets an 73% or higher on the test, then the student is considered to be at the
top 20%

If a student gets an 70% or higher on the test, then the student is considered to be at the
top 30%

If a student gets an 65% or higher on the test, then the student is considered to be average

If a student gets an 60% or lower on the test, then the student should take the test again.

What do you mean the highest grade is sent “electronically?” Each student’s grade is
received by universities by the internet. Each student can also receive their GAT score
grade by SMS on their phone.

Can I take the test in areas such as Hail where there are no testing sites?

A student who is in a remote area like Hail can take the test on mobile vehicles that visit
the area, and student results will be sent electronically to universities.

Can I take the test outside of Saudi Arabia? Yes, there are 94 permanent testing sites in
KSA and 20 testing sites outside Saudi Arabia.

What is the Verbal Section about? The Verbal Section requires you to do the following:

1. Complete a sentence
2. Find an analogy
