Locate the Vitrea unique device identifier (UDI) on the Help Central page. This identifier contains the
software version information and manufacture date.

1. Click at the top of the window to display the Global Options menu.

2. Select Help (Central).

The UDI is displayed under the Version Info section.

Overview
C A U TION
l Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician, as directed
by 21 CFR 801.109(b)(1).
l Vitrea can be configured to lock out users after multiple incorrect passwords are
entered. If this is enabled, it is possible for all administrative users to be locked out.
l A malicious administrator could configure Vitrea software to use a custom log-in
script that compromises user or system security.

l When configuring storage locations during installation, overly long path names may
prevent some applications from saving files correctly.
l All users with permission to log into Vitrea software are able to access data for all
patients stored on the system.
l Application failure may cause temporary files containing patient information to be
stored on disk. Vitrea software temporary files should be manually deleted after an
application failure.

N OTE
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the system configuration and logging
capabilities are set up in such a manner to facilitate compliance with any applicable data
privacy laws.

Purpose
This document comprises the installation for the Vitrea workstation deployment, the current release of the
Vitrea® medical diagnostic tool that allows physicians to access 2D and 3D advanced visualization. The
goal of the software is to enable users to measure, rotate, analyze and segment images.

Scope
The scope of the document is to provide a detailed description of the Vitrea software installation and
configuration processes.

Intended Audience
This document is intended for people who wish to install the Vitrea software. Vital assumes you know how to
complete a standard installation process, have a basic understanding of the Windows Operating Systems,
and know how to navigate in the administrative tools of the Operating System.

Required Background
Vital has made every attempt to make this a step-by-step guide. However, some familiarity with a Windows
operating system is assumed. Vital assumes that you have a basic familiarity with using the Vitrea software.
Also, Vital assumes that you are familiar with hardware and software that will be used to complete the

installation and/or configuration of the Vitrea software.

Upgrade Vitrea software from a previous version to 7.14.2


To upgrade the Vitrea software from 7.10/7.11/7.12.x to 7.14.2, refer to the Vitrea Upgrade Guide.

Third Party Software Limitations


l Vital Images is not responsible for third-party software running on the Vitrea
workstation deployment. Any performance impact on the Vitrea workstation
deployment due to the third-party software may lead to an inconsistent or
undesirable user experience. In addition, Vital Images may not be able to resolve
defects that are determined to be caused by the operation of third-party software
installed on the Vitrea workstation deployment.
l For specific antivirus software exclusions, refer to the "Vital Antivirus Policy" section
in Appendix B: Hardware and Software Requirements in this guide.

Updates from the previous release


Listed below are the guide changes that occurred since the prior software release.
• In the Install and License Vitrea software topic, removed the “When you create an account, do not use
an “&” in the password.” Caution statement removed the "Install the Foxit software" procedure.
• In Appendix B: Hardware and Software Requirements, removed Fox It Reader as a software
requirement.

Vital recommends you do not disable the Windows Firewall while you install the Vitrea
software.

Prepare the Workstation

Determine method of user configuration


You may install the Vitrea workstation deployment to authenticate with Integrated Windows Authentication
(IWA), or via a Vitrea local user database. Use of IWA is strongly recommended, as it provides single sign-
on (SSO) support, and uses the standard Windows operating credential management for both workgroup
and domain (Active Directory) deployments.

N OTE
SSO is enabled by default, but may be disabled (refer to the “To Disable the
singleSignOnEnabled setting” section in the Administration Guide for Extend and
Workstation Deployments).

The following procedures assume you are using IWA on either a workgroup or domain setting. Usage of the
Vitrea database users should be reserved for cases in which IWA is not possible. Refer to Appendix D:
Configure Vitrea Local Database Users in this guide for details on configuring Vitrea local database users.

Set the system Host Name


N OTE
Do not use an underscore (_) when using Host Names. Host Names with underscores
are invalid.

1. Select the Start button and select Settings | System and Security | System.

2. Select the Change settings option.

3. Click the Change button.

4. In the Computer name field, enter the desired Host Name. Do not include an underscore "_". Click OK.

5. Click OK.

6. On the System Properties screen, click the Close button.

The following screen displays.

7. On the Microsoft Windows screen, click the Restart Now button.

8. Add any site-specific administrative accounts.

Create a DNS Entry and set a static IP address


1. Contact the customer’s IT department to acquire a reserved static IP address.

2. Access Network and Sharing Center

• For Windows 7, select the Start button and select Settings | Control Panel | Network and
Sharing Center.
• For Windows 10, right-click the Start button and select Network Connections.

3. For Windows 7, select Change adapter settings in the left pane.


For Windows 10, select Change adapter options.

4. On the Network Connections screen, right-click the desired connection and select Properties.

5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the list of connections.

6. Click the Properties button.

7. Select the Use the following IP address radio button.

8. In the IP address field, enter the static IP address.

9. Enter the desired values in the Subnet mask field and in the Default gateway field.

10. Select the Use the following DNS server addresses radio button.

11. Enter the desired values in the Preferred DNS server field and in the Alternate DNS server field.

12. Click the OK button.

Create accounts and assign groups in a workgroup


This section explains how to set up accounts and assign groups in a workgroup environment.

Accounts to create
N OTE
Create an account type of each account (shown below) on each machine.

For all user accounts, set the password to not be changed on login and to never expire.

Create the accounts


1. Access Administrative Tools.

• For Windows 7, select the Start button and select Settings | Control Panel | Administrative
Tools.
• For Windows 10, right-click the Start button and select Control Panel | System and Security |
Administrative Tools.

2. Double-click Computer Management.

3. In the left pane, expand Local Users and Groups.

4. Right-click Users and select New User.

5. Enter the user name for the Vitrea-Admin account.

6. Enter a detailed description for the user’s role.

7. Enter the password twice.

8. Clear the User must change password at next logon check box.

9. Check the User cannot change password and the Password never expires check boxes.

11. Right-click Users and select New User.

12. Enter the user name for the Vitrea-User account.

13. Enter a detailed description for the user’s role.

Add the Vitrea-Admin user to the local Administrators Group


Complete the steps below to add the Vitrea-Admin account to the group on the Local System.

4. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-Admin user account.

Add the Vitrea-User account to the Remote Desktop Users Group


Complete the steps below to add the Vitrea-Useraccount to the Remote Desktop Users Group on the Local
System.

1. Select Groups.

2. Right-click the Remote Desktop Users group and select Add to Group.

3. Click the Add button.

4. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-User user account.

6. Click OK.

Create system accounts and groups in a domain


This section explains how to set up system accounts and groups in a domain environment.

Accounts to create
The domain administrator creates these accounts in Active Directory.

Account Name Group Membership

Vitrea-Admin Local Administrators (Vitrea Workstation)

Vitrea-User Users

Groups to create
The following groups must be created in Active Directory by an Active Directory administrator. You will use
these groups later to configure corresponding VSP user roles.

N OTE
The domain administrator should add any IT Administration Security Groups that would
be required at the customer site to the Administrators Group on the Workstation.

Group Name Users to include as Group members

Vitrea Administrators Vitrea-Admin, domain administrators, and PACS administrators

Vitrea Users Vitrea-User and all other application users (Radiologists, Cardiologist)

Add the Vitrea-Admin user to the local Administrators group and to the
Vitrea Administrators group

Add any relevant domain administrator users to the security group as needed.

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.

2. Double-click Administrative Tools.

3. Double-click Computer Management.

4. In the left pane, expand Local Users and Groups.

5. Select Groups.

6. Double-click the Administrators group.

7. Click the Add button.

8. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-Admin user account.

9. Click OK.

10. Double-click the Vitrea Administrators group.

11. Click the Add button.

12. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-Admin user account.

13. Click OK.

14. Double-click the Vitrea Services group.

15. Click the Add button.

16. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-Admin user account.

17. Click OK.

Add the Vitrea-User account to the Vitrea Users group


N OTE
Add any relevant domain users who need access to Vitrea, to the security group as
needed.

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.

2. Double-click Administrative Tools.

3. Double-click Computer Management.

4. In the left pane, expand Local Users and Groups.

5. Select Groups.

6. Double-click the Vitrea Users group.

7. Click the Add button.

8. In the Enter the object names to select field, add the Vitrea-User account.

9. Click OK.

Create a Vital_Resources Folder


Complete this procedure to standardize the location of the installation media, licenses, and other installation
documents globally for quicker support and access.

1. Create a Vital_Resources folder on the data drive.

2. Copy the contents of the product download into the Vital_Resources folder.

Run the System Setup Script


In this section, you will use a system preparation setup script to automatically configure the system.

For Windows 7
1. Navigate to Vital_Resources\Utilities\OS Configuration Scripts\Windows 7.

2. Right-click the Vitrea_Win7_Script.bat file and choose to run as Administrator.

The script will execute and configure the operating system, and then reboot the Vitrea software.

For Windows 10
To run the System Setup Script using a command line on Windows 10 only
The OS Setup Script has the following command line options:
• -rebootOption
• Possible Values are "prompt", "autoreboot", "noreboot"

EXAMPLE #.\Vitrea_Win10_Script.ps1 -rebootOption autoreboot

To run the System Setup Script with user interaction on /Windows 10

1. Navigate to the Vital_Resources\<Version Release>\Utilities\OS Configuration Scripts\Windows 10


location and copy the folder location from the Address bar.

2. Select the Start button and select Windows PowerShell.

3. Right-click on Powershell and select the Run as Administrator menu item.

4. Type “Set-ExecutionPolicy UnRestricted” and press Enter.

5. On the Powershell screen, type A to select Yes to All and press Enter.

6. From the command prompt, type "E".

7. Type cd "

8. In the PowerShell window, right-click after the " symbol and select Paste.

9. Enter a closed " symbol after the pasted text and press Enter.

10. Enter the Powershell command, type “.\Vitrea_Win10_Script.ps1”

The script executes and prepares the system for software installation. It reboots the computer when the
script is finished.

11. Open a command line.

12. Type “Powershell” and press Enter.

13. At the command prompt, type “Set-ExecutionPolicy Restricted” and press Enter.

14. When you are prompted to reboot. Click Yes.

Install the BitLocker software


Verify the Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs) are installed
N OTE
If you do not have a TPM in your server and you wish to add one, you can purchase a
TPM directly from the hardware vendor.

1. Sign in to the machine on which you will install BitLocker.

2. From the Start menu, select Device Manager.

3. Expand Security devices and ensure Trusted Platform Module 2.0 is installed and listed.

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.

2. Select System and Security and select BitLocker Drive Encryption.

3. Encrypt both the operating system drive and the fixed data drive.

4. For both the operating system drive and the fixed data drive, select the Use a password to unlock the drive
check box and define your password. Re-type the password to confirm and then click Next.

5. Select the Automatically unlock this drive on this computer check box.

6. Select the Save to a recovery key to a file option. Save the file to a safe network location (such as a
Shared Folder) to ensure you can retrieve the key.

If you do not save the key somewhere remote and your system goes down, the system
will be unrecoverable.

7. Click the Next button.

8. You can choose to either encrypt used space or whole drive contents.

9. Select New encryption mode.

10. Click the Start encrypting button and wait for encryption to finish. This may take several minutes depending
on the size of the drive.

The Task menu shows Bitlocker loading and running encryption.

11. If you did not select the Automatically unlock this drive on this computer check box (in step 5 above) or if
you did not get this option, right-click on the drive that was encrypted and select Manage Bitlocker. Then
select the Turn on autounlock option.

N OTE
If you do not perform step 11, the SQL Server Instance is unable to access the ViDicom
database and the Vitrea application will not function after a reboot.

To Uninstall BitLocker
1. Verify BitLocker encryption was successful.

a. Right-click the Start button and select File Explorer.


b. Select the This PC icon.
c. Right-click the drive that was encrypted and select Manage BitLocker.

2. If the encryption was successful, BitLocker on displays next to the drive letter.

N OTE
Make sure you decrypt before you reimage the workstation.

3. Select the Turn off BitLocker option.

4. On the prompt that displays, select Turn off BitLocker.

5. Once the decryption completes, you are ready to reimage the workstation.

Configure Group Policy setting for Workgroup deployment


N OTE
Complete this procedure for Workstations that use Windows 7 and are set up in a
Workgroup deployment.

1. Right-click the Start button and enter Edit group policy in the Search programs and files field.

The Local Group Policy Editor screen displays.

2. Expand Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer
| Internet Control Panel | Security Page.

3. Double-click Site to Zone Assignment List.

4. Select the Enabled radio button.

5. In the Options area, click the Show button.

6. In the Value Name field, enter http://<hostname> and enter 1 in the Value column to add
http://<hostname> to the local intranet zone.

7. Click OK.

Determine the NVIDIA Driver Type installed on the system (Windows 10 Dell Powerstations and
Workstations only)

N OTE
You only need to complete this procedure if you are using a Dell Powerstation or a Dell
Workstation with Windows 10 installed upon it.

To determine which NVIDIA driver is installed on the system, complete the steps below:
a. Right-click the Desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
b. Select the System Information link in the lower left corner of the screen.

c. The Driver Type value lists whether you have a DCH or a Standard driver type installed.

1. For Powerstations or Dell Workstation systems that use Windows 10, complete the "Determine the
NVIDIA Driver Type installed on the system" procedure listed above. For Powerstations or Workstation
systems with Windows 7 installed or for a non-Dell Powerstation or non-Dell Workstation with Window 10
installed, skip to step 2.

2. Navigate to the drivers location:

• For Windows 7, navigate to Vital_Resources\Utilities\Video Card Drivers\431.98.


• For Windows 10, navigate to Vital_Resources\Utilities\Video Card Drivers\452.39.

3. Double-click the DCH folder or the Standard folder.

4. Double-click the desired driver file.

• Vital recommends you run the .NET Framework patches when you install Microsoft
Windows monthly updates. If you do not have Internet access, complete the
following steps to access the patches:
a. Access the Vitrea product media.
b. Navigate to the Bundle\Prerequisites\NET480 subfolder.
c. Double-click the ndp48.exe to install the updates.

1. Click the Start button, select the Settings option, and select the Update & security option.

2. Click the Check for updates button.

Install the software

Configure the Workstation for Ultrasound applications (Optional

If you plan to install Ultrasound applications on the Workstation, you must complete this section before you
install the Vitrea software.

Install AccessDatabaseEngine.exe file


The AccessDatabaseEngine.exe file is required for the US 2D Ultrasound Clinical Package.

1. Navigate to the Vital_Resources\Utilities\Specialized Deployments\AccessDatabaseEngine\ directory.

2. Double-click the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe file.

For more information, refer to the “Installing the Access database engine” procedure in the CMSC
documents.

Configure an E:\ drive


• To ensure Ultrasound applications function correctly, you must configure an E:\ drive partition on the
Workstation and allocate at least 10GB of space.

Configure Monitor Resolution


• To ensure Ultrasound applications function correctly, configure the monitor to 1920x1200 resolution.
For more information, refer to Appendix K: Supported Monitor Resolutions for VSTP Applications.

Configure the firewall to provide access for Ultrasound applications
1. Click the Start button. Type Firewall and select the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security
option.

2. In the left pane, select Inbound Rules.

3. Right-click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.

4. Verify the Program radio button is selected and click the Next button.

5. Select the This Program path: radio button, type C: \CMSC US\CMSC\CMSCWSClinicalApp_
US\bin\Mecha4D.exe in the field and click the Next button.

6. Verify the Allow the connection radio button is selected and click the Next button.

7. Accept the default values and click the Next button.

8. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name such as "Ultrasound Software". Click the Finish button.

Install the Vitrea software


N OTE
l If Command prompt screens displays during the installation process, do not close
them. They will close automatically when the required processing is complete.
l Make sure you sign in as an Administrator before you install the Vitrea software.

1. Right-click the InstallVitrea.exe file from the product media or from the Vital_Resources folder and select
Run as Administrator.

l The default Vital data install location is the drive with the most free space. To change
this location, refer to the “Change the location where data is stored” procedure in
Appendix C: Vitrea Install Options.
l To review the install locations of the Vital applications and products, click the
Advanced button and select Install Options. For a detailed explanation of the
Advanced menu options, refer to Appendix C: Vitrea Install Options.

To install Ultrasound applications, complete the following sub-steps.


a. Click the Advanced button and select Install Options.

b. Scroll down to Clinical US and select the button.

c. Scroll down to Clinical US Lib and select the button.


To install the CSMC Floating License Server, complete the following sub-steps.

N OTE
The CSMC Cardiac Suite Floating License Server is not installed automatically. To set
up a Floating License Server to share a license between one or more systems, complete
the steps below.

a. Click the Advanced button and select Install Options.

b. Scroll down to Cedars Concurrent License Server and select the button.
c. After you install the Vitrea software, you will configure the CSMC Floating License Server.

2. Click the Profile dropdown menu and select Vitrea Workstation.

3. Click the INSTALL button to begin the installation.

US\CMSC\CMSCWSClinicalApp_US\bin and execute the SetupBuildStartWS.js file.

2. If the system restarts without executing the SetupBuildStartWS.js file, complete the steps below to manually
execute the SetupBuildStartWS.js file.

a. Log into the system as an administrator.


b. Run C:\CMSC US\CMSC\CMSCWSClinicalApp_US\bin\killzWS.js.
c. Run C:\CMSC US\CMSC\CMSCWSClinicalApp_US\bin\SetupBuildStartWS.js.
d. Restart the system.
e. Click the REBOOT REQUIRED button.
The following screen displays.

f. Click OK. The system restarts.

Configure the software

Create a License

Use the Host Information Tool


In this section, you will use the Host Information Tool, an executable file to collect identifying information
from the system.

1. To run the Host Information Tool, select the Start button and select All Programs | Vital Images | Vitrea
Generate License HostInfo.

2. The license file (using a .lic file format) is automatically saved to the Desktop.

Acquire a license file


N OTE
Before you can upload a software license (as explained below), you must first contact
Vital Customer Support to acquire the license file. Note that it takes Vital Customer
Support 24-48 hours to send you the license file. Therefore, you should plan your license
configuration process accordingly.

To acquire a license file, you must contact Vital Customer Support. Send an email to
[email protected] and include the following information: 
• The System ID that is listed in the screen that displays on your system
• Site Name
• Vital ID
• The host name of the system that houses the license server
• The version of Vitrea software installed

Add a License
N OTE
Prior to installing a license, a “Your system is not licensed; Please contact your
administrator.” message displays on the Applications Home screen.

1. From the Applications Home screen, select Licensing.

The Licensing tab screen displays.

Configure Global Illumination Batch/Movie quality settings


N OTE
For Global Illumination Rendering images, the rendering quality level for playback of
batches and/or movies is set to Medium by default. Complete the steps below to
configure the setting. The lower the rendering value, the faster the playback speed; the
higher the rendering value, the slower the playback speed.

1. Login as an administrator in Windows.

2. Right-click the Start Vitrea desktop shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator.

3. Enter the admin credentials.

4. Select System Configuration on the Applications Home screen.

5. Select System Settings in the Subsystem menu.

6. From the Component dropdown menu, select VitreaClassicSuite.

7. Click the Make Changes button in the left pane. Enter a reason and click OK.

8. Double-click the Value column in the GI Batch Quality row.

9. Enter either “Low”, “Medium”, or “High”.

10. Double-click the Value column in the GI Play Quality row.

12. Click the Activate Changes button.

13. Restart the Vitrea software.

Attach an Archive
This section explains how to add an archive using the System Configuration tab.

Complete this procedure to create a DICOM Export/Archive destination.

2. Login as Vitrea Administrator.

3. On the Applications Home screen, select System Configuration.

4. In the Subsystem menu, select Archive.

6. In the Name field, enter a name for the DICOM device from which the Vitrea software will query/retrieve.

7. In the Key field, enter the name of the Query Node you want to create.

10. In the AE Title field, enter the AE Title of the DICOM device.

Use a unique AE Title value.

11. In the Services area, select the desired check boxes:

• If you select the Storage check box and the Query / Receive check box, the system will
automatically create the appropriate DICOM interfaces.
• If you want to set up an export destination for an XA device (DSA), complete the “Configure
Vitrea software for 3D Angio XA volumes” procedure in the Administration Guide for Extend
and Workstation Deployments.

12. Click the Test button to perform a C-ECHO to the archive location.

13. Click Apply.

14. Click the Activate Changes button.

15. Restart the Vitrea software.

Configure TCP Port 3003


In this procedure, you will change the firewall to block Port 3003 to all traffic if there are no entities expected
to be querying or you will add those entities that you expect to query so that they can pass through the
firewall.

b. On the General tab, select the Block the connection radio button.
c. Click the OK button.
Method Two
a. Access the Inbound Rules list.
b. Right-click the “Open Port 3003” rule and select Disable rule.

7. Click the OK button on the IP address screen.

8. Click the OK button on the prompt that displays.

9. Click the Apply button and click the OK button.

Configure the Workstation for TomTec software (Optional


Procedure)
In this procedure, you will configure the Workstation to ensure the TomTec software executes correctly.

Verify the FileCache setting


1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\TOMTEC\ImageCom\ImageCom-config.xml file directory.

3. Verify the FileCache enabled value is set to "true".

Change the TempStorageFolder setting


Complete the steps below tochange the TempStorageFolder setting to Dir='$(TEMP)' to point to the user’s
%TEMP% folder, where the user is expected to have full read and write access.

1. Within the C:\Program Files (x86)\TOMTEC\ImageCom\ImageCom-config.xml file, scroll to the


TempStorageFolder value.

2. Change the default setting of <TempStorageFolder Dir='../Runtime/Temp' DeleteOnShutdown='true'/> to


<TempStorageFolder Dir='$(TEMP)' DeleteOnShutdown='true'/>.

3. Save the ImageCom-config.xml file.

Change the LogFile setting


Complete the steps below to change the LogFile setting to Directory='$(TEMP)' to point to the user’s
%TEMP% folder.

1. Within the C:\Program Files (x86)\TOMTEC\ImageCom\ImageCom-config.xml file, scroll to the


LogFile Directory value.

2. Change the default setting of <LogFile Directory='../Runtime/Log' NumberOfMaxEntries='100000'


NumberOfHistoryFile='10' AddPid='true' /> to <LogFile Directory='$(TEMP)' NumberOfMaxEntries='100000'

3. Save the ImageCom-config.xml file.

Configure DICOM Receive Storage settings
1. From within the Vitrea Administration Tool, click the Configuration Manager navigation button.

2. In the Navigation Pane, expand Profiles and select the machine profile.

3. In the main pane, select the Inherit from Enterprise link. This ensures all settings are configured in one
profile.

4. On the Action Request prompt that displays, click the Skip button.

5. In the Navigation Pane, select EnterpriseProfile.

7. Expand the Connection and Implementation section and complete the following steps:

a. Verify the value entered in the AE Title field matches the AE Title value that you wish to use
for the AETitle. If it does not, change the value and then click Save. Vital suggests that you
enter an AE Title using all capital letters.

Use a unique AE Title value.

b. Verify the value entered in the Port field is 3002. If it is some other value, change it to 3002
and then click Save.

8. Expand the Storage area (if necessary).

9. In the Root Directory field, verify the Root Directory for Temporary Storage is E:\DICOMReceive.

10. Select the Low Watermark spin box and change the value to 15GB.

11. Select the High Watermark spin box and change the value to 20GB.

12. Click Save.

Configure DICOM Query/Retrieve


The Query/Retrieve service within the Vitrea Administration Tool provides a method to request a list of
patients from the Vitrea system and potentially export the DICOM data to the requesting entity.

1. Select the DICOM Query/Retrieve tab.

Configure Query Entity settings
1. Expand the Query Entity section.

2. The default AE Title field value is QRSCP. You can modify this value as you desire.

3. Modify the Alias field as desired.

4. Click the Port spinbox as desired. The default value is 3003.

Configure Valid Host List settings


The Valid Host List setting allows you to specify the IP address of the sending PACS DICOM Archive. By
default, the Allow Unknown Hosts to Query check box is selected which means the Vitrea workstation is set
to be DICOM promiscous.

To add an IP address to the Valid Host List table

N OTE
To allow someone to query retrieve from the Vitrea system, you must add the host into
the Valid Host List.

1. Clear the Allow Unknown Hosts to Query check box.

2. In the field to the right of the New button, enter the desired IP address of the sending PACS DICOM Archive.

3. Click the New button. The IP address displays in the table.

4. Click Save.

To remove an IP address from the Valid Host List table


1. Clear the Allow Unknown Hosts to Query check box.

2. Select the IP address to remove.

3. Click the Delete button. The IP address is removed from the table.

4. Click Save.

N OTE
If you modify any fields and then select another tab or Navigation Button, a Save
Configuration Changes screen displays.

5. In the Message field, enter a reason for the change(s) you completed.

6. Click OK.

Configure AutoDelete
The AutoDelete service allows you to set up the rules by which studies from the Vitrea workstation
deployment are automatically deleted. In addition, use this service to define the autodelete behavior when
the disk is full and no studies are expired.

N OTE
The AutoDelete service deletes the oldest patients in the system first.

• For SQL Server Express Edition - there are two states in which the AutoDelete service will execute.
• When the database exceeds 80% of the 10GB database size in SQL Server 2014 SP3 Express
Edition.
• When the configured disk-based mark is reached.

N OTE
Disabling the AutoDelete rules puts the Vitrea workstation deployment in manual delete
mode.

To Configure AutoDelete
You must update the configuration setting for one of the following sections:
• Configure Rule-Based Marking Options
• Configure Disk-Based Marking Options
• Select the AutoDelete tab.

Configure Rule-Based Marking Options


This section enables you to define different retention periods and priorities based on the study type.

N OTE
For each study in the Vitrea workstation deployment cache, the expiration date is set

• The expiration date is set when a study is received by the Vitrea workstation deployment.
• The expiration date is updated when a study is accessed by a user.
• The expiration date is set and updated in accordance with the rules for the modality of the study.
• If a study contains multiple modalities, it changes to the expiration date will always follow the
modality with the longest retention period.

1. Expand the Markers section.

2. Select the Enable rule-based marking check box to allow AutoDelete to mark studies for deletion based on
modality and/or time. The default value is cleared.

• The Modality table field lists the available modalities that were defined with Accepted Service
Object Pair Classes value on the DICOM Receive tab.
• The Retention Days After Receipt of Study table field lists the number of days a study should
be retained after receipt.
• The Retention Days After Last Access table field lists the number of days a study should be
retained after the last study access.

3. In the Disk Full Actions section, select the desired radio button.

4. To create a new rule or update an existing rule, complete the following steps:

a. Specify the Modality or Modalities.


b. Specify the Retention Days After Receipt of Study value.
c. Specify the Retention Days After Last Access value.

5. Click Save and enter comments for revision history.

Configure Disk-Based Marking Options


1. Complete the Disk-Based Marking section using the following guidelines.

• FULL_ANONYMIZATION - edit existing DICOM Tags defined in the profile only - used during
export.

• IMPORT_EDIT - edit existing DICOM Tags defined in the profile only - used during import.

To edit a DICOM Tag for a Profile


1. From the DICOM Modify Profiles table, click the Profiles Name dropdown menu and select the desired
option.

2. In the table, select the DICOM Tag to edit and click the Edit button.

3. In the Default Value field, enter the desired value.

4. Select the desired check boxes.

5. Click OK.

To add a DICOM Tag to a Profile

You can only add DICOM Tags to the PATIENT_EDIT profile.

1. From the DICOM Modify Profiles table, click the Profiles Name dropdown menu and select PATIENT_EDIT.

2. Click the Add button.

3. Click the DICOM Tag dropdown menu and select the desired option.

4. In the Default Value field, enter the desired value.

5. Select the desired check boxes.

6. Click OK.

The new DICOM Tag displays in the table on the DICOM Modify screen.

7. Click Save to save your changes.

To remove a DICOM Tag from a Profile


N OTE
You can only remove DICOM Tags from the PATIENT_EDIT profile.

1. From the DICOM Modify Profiles table, click the Profiles Name dropdown menu and select PATIENT_EDIT.

2. Select the DICOM Tag to remove and click the Remove button.

The removed DICOM Tag no longer displays in the table on the DICOM Modify screen.

3. Click Save to save your changes.

Configure Post Processing


N OTE
Before you modify the Post Processing tab, ensure you have no active users on the

system. When you save your changes on the Post Processing tab, the Vitrea
Administration Tool restarts the VIMS Post Processing Service and IIS which can cause a
user to lose an active session.

1. From within the Vitrea Administration Tool, click the Configuration Manager navigation button.

2. In the Navigation Pane, expand Profiles and select EnterpriseProfile.

3. Select the Post Processing tab.

PowerScribe is a comprehensive radiology reporting solution that supports a robust integration platform
which not only allows third party integrators to push discrete data such as measurements directly into the
PowerScribe database, but also supports direct intake and parsing of DICOM SR documents.
Complete the steps below to configure PowerScribe integration.

1. If necessary, expand the PowerScribe Credentials section.

2. In the Server BaseUrl field, enter the base URL to the PowerScribe AP.

EXAMPLE http://<PowerScribeServerName>/iRADPortal/Services.

3. In the Username field, enter the username used to call the PowerScribe API.

4. In the Password field, enter the password used to call the PowerScribe API.

5. Click the Save button in the upper left corner of the screen.

Create a DICOM Printer
1. Select the Configuration Manager button.

2. In the left pane, right-click Remote DICOM Entries and select Create a DICOM Printer.

3. Select the Use the default printer settings check box (if desired) and click Next.

4. Enter the following information:

a. In the AE Title field, enter an AE Title (DICOMPRINTER as an example).

Configure Windows Firewall: Allow ICMP exceptions


If you are unable to perform a C-Echo when you configure the Storage Archive, you may need to complete
this procedure.
Some DICOM devices require DICOM Echo be able to add a DICOM Endpoint to their modality. You may
need to enable ICMP for port 3002 and 3003 to allow these devices to complete the setup.

1. Right-click the Start button and enter gpedit.msc in the Search programs and files field.

2. Expand Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Network Connections |


Windows Firewall | Standard Profile.

3. Select the Enabled radio button and click the OK button to save the change.

Send DICOM using VIDropBox


At this point, you can send data to the Vitrea workstation to determine if it is receiving DICOM.
The VIDropBox tool has been provided to allow a user to send DICOM to the Vitrea workstation when a
DICOM modality is not available.

N OTE
There is a 256 character limit to the path when selecting data. When you access data
from a remote source via a UNC path, you should map a drive.

1. To run the VIDropBox, select Start | Programs | Vital Images | VIDropBox.

2. Run the application.

3. In the left pane, browse to the directory where the patient data is located.

4. Click and drag the data into the right window.

5. If necessary, update the VIMS Host field to the IP Address of the Vitrea workstation.

6. Modify the AE Title field value to match the AE Title of where the data is being pushed. This value is case
sensitive.

7. Update the Port field value.

8. Click Push.

9. When the data for the specific patient is successfully pushed, it will be removed from the right window.

10. Close the VIDropBox.

Import Data using Media Manager


N OTE
Vitrea Media Manager cannot import DICOM files that are 2GB or larger on a per file
basis..

1. Launch the Media Manager. Select the Start button and select All Programs | Vital Images | Media
Manager.

2. Click the Browse button and browse to the source location where the data is present.

3. Click the Import button.

Appendix A: Database Backup
Procedures
Perform a Database Backup

Scheduled Database Backup


During the initial installation, a scheduled database backup job is created for the VIMS Monitor Agent
service. This job runs daily at 1:00 a.m. (local time). The backup file is sent to the configured VitreaData
folder location, in the DBBackup folder.
This scheduled database backup job keeps five copies of database backup files. Any excess backup files
are automatically removed. The default location for these backup files is E:\VitreaData\DBBackup.

VIMS Monitor Agent Service Configuration

want the Database Backup to point to a different location, update the Parameters path
using the format listed above.

Job Configuration
When the VIMS Monitor Agent service starts, it reads job information from an XML section of a local
configuration file. On startup, the service calculates an offset value for each job defined in the file. This offset
represents the difference between the current time and the next scheduled execution of the job (time until
the next job execution).
The combination of ScheduleTime, ScheduleIteration and ScheduleAmount determines the job schedule.
Jobs are executed in intervals equal to ScheduleIteration X ScheduleAmount (ex:
ScheduleIteration=“HOUR” and ScheduleAmount =“4” executes the job every 4 hours).
The Enabled=“” attribute must be present for a job to execute. A job that includes the Immediate=“” attribute
is executed upon startup of the VIMS Monitor Agent service, as well as on its schedule.
Each scheduled job calls a stored procedure in the VIDICOM database, providing parameters as required.
Jobs that do not include Extended=“” attribute are executed using the VIDICOM SQL Server login, with
minimal database permissions. Jobs requiring elevated permissions for actions such as file system cleanup
include the Extended=“” attribute and are executed using the credentials of the VIMS Monitor Agent service.
A VIMS Monitor Agent service configuration file is present on the Vitrea software. Any change to the file
requires a restart of the VIMS Monitor Agent service. On the Vitrea installation, this file will be overwritten.
The value for the VIMSDatabaseBackup job parameter will be set to the VitreaData folder location
provided during a Vitrea installation.
The VIMS Monitor Agent service log file is located in the C:\ProgramData\Vitrea\logs\VIMS directory and is
named <hostname>.VI.VIMS.Services.Agent.MonitorAgentManager.

Test Scheduled Database Backup


Complete the following procedure to test that the VIMS Database Backup will occur daily at 1:00 a.m. (local
time).

1. From the Start menu, select All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server (version) | SQL Server Management
Studio.

2. Connect to the vimsSQLstd instance.

3. In the left pane, expand Databases.

4. Expand VIDICOM.

5. Expand Programmability.

6. Expand Stored Procedures.

7. Scroll down to dbo.agt_VIMS_DB_Backup.

8. Right-click and select Execute Stored Procedure...

9. In the @BackupPath row, click the Value field and enter the path to which the database will reside
(E:\VitreaData\DBBackup).

10. In the @DaystoRetain row, click the Value field and enter the number of days you wish to retain the backup.

If you use a value less than 5, you will lose your pre-existing backup files.

11. Click OK.

The backup will then occur.

Manual Database Backup and Restore Processes


This process is used for performing a manual backup before an upgrade to the system or restoring the
system to resolve an issue.

N OTE
l Login to the Vitrea software using the domain account under which the SQL Server
service resides. This account will be a member of the local Administrators security
group on the Vitrea software.
l The database schema is coupled to the build version. When attempting to restore a
database, you must be running the same version of the Vitrea software as was
installed when the database backup was created. There is currently no restriction in
place to prevent restoration of a database backup that does not match the installed
build version.

Connect to the Database Server


1. From the Start menu, select All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server (version) | SQL Server Management
Studio.

2. In the Server name field, select the hostname\SQL Server instance from the dropdown menu. If the local
server is not present in the server name dropdown menu, click Browse for more from the list.

3. In the Authentication field, select Windows Authentication from the dropdown menu.

4. Click Connect.

5. If you do not see the Object Explorer pane, press F8.

6. In the Object Explorer pane, expand the server node and then expand the Databases node.

Database Backup
1. Right-click on the VIDicom database and select Tasks | Back Up.

The following screen displays.

2. Set the fields as shown in the screen above. Make sure the Backup type field is set to Full.

3. In the Destination section, remove any existing entries, then use Add to specify the location and filename of
the database backup destination. This may be a local drive or a UNC path. Include the .bak extension in the
backup filename.

4. Click OK.

The backup progress displays in the Progress dialog in the lower-right corner.

Restore the Database (OPTIONAL)

If the database upgrade fails, complete the following procedure to revert to the previous
version of the installation for the Database. The corresponding Vitrea software
installation should also be reverted.

1. Right-click the VIDicom database and select Properties.

2. In the left pane, select Options.

The following screen displays.

3. In the Other options area, set the Restrict Access state to RESTRICTED_USER.

4. Click OK.

5. Answer Yes to the Open Connections prompt that displays.

6. Right-click the VIDicom database and choose Tasks | Restore | Database.

7. In the Restore Database dialog, a list of recent backups displays in the Select the backup sets to restore
area. If your backup is in the list, select the Restore check box next to the backup. If your backup is not
listed, select the From device radio button and click the ellipsis button to use the Specify Backup dialog to
add the backup file to the list. This may be a local disk or UNC path and must include the backup filename
and extension. Once the backup is added to the list, select the Restore check box next to the backup.

8. In the left pane, click Options.

9. Select the Overwrite the existing database (WITH REPLACE) check box.

10. Select the Restrict access to the restored database (WITH RESTRICTED_USER) check box.

11. Verify the Restore As path of the database and log files in the Restore the database files as area. These
reflect the state of the database when the backup was created. If these are incorrect, modify the destinations
of the files in this list.

12. Click OK.

The restore progress displays in the Progress dialog in the lower-right corner.

13. Navigate to the Database Properties - VIDicom screen.

14. In the Other options area, set the Restrict Access state to MULTI_USER.

15. Click OK.

16. Close SQL Server Management Studio.

17. Restart Vitrea.

Hard Disk Storage


Faster hard drives such as 10000 rpm or 15000 rpm can be used if desired. Vital recommends allocating
150GB for the C:\ partition where the operating system is installed to accommodate for prerequisite
applications included with Vitrea.

Networking
Vital Images supports the use of a single network connection per device, except in the use case of multiple
network connections for redundancy so that only a Single IP address and MAC is used. If a network fails, the
system will still be available on the same IP address.
Recommended network connection speed is a 1 Gbps network connection.

C A U TION
Vitrea utilizes a network connection in order to process studies. As such, any Vitrea
system must have a network connection available. In the case of a system without a
network connection, you must install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter. For more

Graphics and Video Requirements


A high-performance Microsoft Windows® compatible graphics card is required to take advantage of the
visual capabilities of Vitrea software. The video card should have advanced hardware accelerated support
of the latest OpenGL specification, a fast video bus interface, high fill-rate and large video memory. The
video card's driver is also required to be stable, reliable and be in good standing.
Listed below are the currently supported professional graphics cards (unless otherwise noted, all of the
cards are PCIe):

• a single 20” standard format monitor with a minimum resolution of 1280x1024 with Windows desktop
scaling set to 100% and the recommended resolution of 1600x1200 with Windows desktop scaling set
to 100%.
• a single 24” monitor with a recommended resolution of 1920x1200 with Windows desktop scaling set to
100%.
• a single 30” monitor with a minimum resolution of 1600x1200 with Windows desktop scaling set to
100% and the recommended resolution of 2560x1600 with Windows desktop scaling set to 100%.
• a single 4k monitor with a resolution of 3840x2160 and Windows desktop scaling set to 100%.

CMSC Ultrasound applications cannot run on 4k monitors.

Vitrea workstation deployment to ensure the patient names display correctly in the Study Directory.

Database Users
You may install the Vitrea workstation deployment to authenticate with Integrated Windows Authentication
(IWA), or via a Vitrea local user database. Use of IWA is strongly recommended, as it provides single sign-
on (SSO) support, and uses the standard Windows operating credential management for both workgroup
and domain (Active Directory) deployments.

N OTE
SSO is enabled by default, but may be disabled (refer to the “To Disable the
singleSignOnEnabled setting” section in the Administrative Procedures topic).

This appendix explains how to configure Vitrea local database users which would be performed for an
installation in which IWA is not possible.

Add Users

Vitrea user configuration is only necessary if Integrated Windows Authentication is not
being used.

Users can either be a Windows user (local to the machine and part of the domain) or a local database user.
A local database user is a member of a local database group.
In this section, you will use the Local Database User Management subsystem within the System
Configuration tab to create users on the system.

Set up the Snapshot Converter application
To use the following applications, you must complete this procedure.
• US Cardiac Fusion
• NM Cardiac Fusion
• SUREVolume Synthesis

1. Double-click the Start Vitrea icon on the desktop.

2. Login as “admin”.

3. Enter the admin credentials.

4. Select System Configuration on the Applications Home screen.

5. In the Subsystem menu, select Scripts.

6. Click the Make Changes button.

The Reason screen displays.

7. Type “Add script” in the field and click OK.

8. On the Scripts screen, click the Add button in the upper left corner.

Set up the Angio Viewer application


This setting is for pixel calibration ARP and PID mode and data transfer. If ARP or PID mode is used, first
complete the “ARP and PID mode procedure” listed below. If the following setting is not performed correctly,
ARP and PID calculation results may be incorrect.
If data transfer is used in this application, complete the “Data transfer procedure” listed below.

ARP and PID mode procedure


1. Confirm the setting of the INFX-8000 system set up with this Vitrea machine.

To confirm the C-arm type setting and the height of iso-center, complete the steps below.
a. Click the Utility tab of system console of the INFX-8000 system.
b. Click Service Tools-Service.
c. On the Service screen input the password. You need to confirm the password before this
operation.
d. Open config-system in the Service screen then confirm the information.

2. Double-click the Start Vitrea icon on the desktop.

3. Login as “admin”.

4. Enter the admin credentials.

5. Select System Configuration on the Applications Home screen.

Set up the CT Dental application


This setting is for printing a CT Dental batch image from the Reporting application. You can change the
matrix size of panorama images and crosscut images created by the batch save operation. You can also
change the pixel size of the images. Use this setting to adjust printed image sizes and zoom ratio on
paper/film. When the connected printing device is changed, you need to adjust this setting for the new
device.

1. Double-click the Start Vitrea icon on the desktop.

2. Login as “admin”.

3. Enter the admin credentials.

4. Select System Configuration on the Applications Home screen.

Appendix K: Configure the
CSMC Floating License Server
This section explains how to configure the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) Cardiac Suite Floating
License Server. The CSMC Cardiac Suite applications are installed automatically on the Workstation.
For a Vitrea Workstation deployment, you can configure Cedars licensing using one of two scenarios:
Local Node-Locked - this option limits license usage to a single machine. If you choose Local Node-
Locked, you will install the license file on each Vitrea Workstation in your deployment. You will also need to
run the Host Information Tool on each Vitrea Workstation in your deployment.
To set up a local node-locked license on a Vitrea Workstation, complete the procedures listed below on
each Vitrea Workstation in your deployment.
Install Cedars Floating License Server on a Workstation - the necessary license server software is not
automatically installed with the Vitrea Workstation installation. You only need to complete the procedures
listed below on the system acting as the license server and not on each workstation in your deployment.
You should not set up a floating license server on a Vitrea Workstation.

N OTE
Be aware that the floating and node-locked license types are not interchangeable. Once
you receive the License File from Customer Support, you cannot change it.

C A U TION
l The CSMC Cardiac Suite Floating License Server requires a Call Home (i.e.,
constant internet access) to http://vm.csaim.com/. You may need to set up rules in
your proxy server to reach the Call Home destination. If the software cannot reach its
Call Home destination with 14 days, your floating license will shut down.
l If you use a proxy server, you may need to add a rule to the proxy server to allow
connections to http://vm.csaim.com/ or white list a connection to that Internet site.
l If you are using the CSMC applications, a new version of the CSMC Cardiac Suite
Floating License Server 2017 software and a new license is required.

N OTE
• The QGS/QPS and the QBS applications require both a Vital license and a Cedars
license. To configure the CSMC Floating License server and enable use of the
CSMC applications, you must perform this procedure on the Workstation and then
point any additional Workstations to the CSMC Floating License Server.
• To use the QGS/QPS and the QBS applications on the Workstation, you must first
configure the floating license server.

Verify the license server is installed


N OTE
Before the CSMC Cardiac Suite Floating License Server can be licensed, you must

complete the following procedure. Be aware that you must contact Vital Customer
Support to obtain a valid license file during this procedure. Plan your time accordingly
because Vital Customer Support typically requires 24-48 hours after being contacted to
send you the license file.

1. Complete the "Acquire the License File" section in the Prepare for Licensing topic.

2. Open an Internet browser.

3. In the URL field, type http://<servername>:6433 and press Enter.

A screen similar to the one shown below displays.

4. To obtain a valid license file, you need to contact Vital Customer Support. Send an email to
[email protected] and include the following information: 

• The System ID that is listed in the screen that displays on your system
• Site Name
• Vital ID
• The host name of the system that houses the license server (typically the Management Server)
• The version of Vitrea software installed

Upload the license file


Once you receive a license file from Vital Customer Support, complete the steps below.

1. Save the .ini or .lic file to your Workstation.

2. Open an Internet browser.

3. In the URL field, type http://<servername>:6433 and press Enter.

4. Click the Choose File button and navigate to the location of the license file.

5. Click the Upload button.

Activate the Floating License Server


After you upload the license file, complete the steps below.

1. Open an Internet browser.

3. Complete the Registered To, Company, and Email #1 fields.

4. Click the Submit button.

Verify the license is active

Suite\bin\csconfig.exe and view the license status tab.

Configure the TCP port


1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel | Windows Firewall | Advanced Settings.

3. Right-click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.

4. Select the Port radio button and click Next.

5. Select the TCP radio button and add 6433 into the Specific local ports field.

Direct Workstations to the Floating License Server

Perform this procedure on each Workstation in your deployment.

1. On each Workstation, navigate to C:\Program Files\CSMC Cardiac Suite\bin\csconfig.exe.

2. In the Host field, enter the hostname or IP address of the Floating License Server.

3. Click the Port field and enter 6433.

4. Click OK.

Floating License Server Post Setup


The Floating License Server will perform a Call Home function every day for two weeks and then shut down
the server unless you reset the server. If you do not provide constant Internet access for the Floating License
Server, this failure will occur.
To reset the Floating License Server, complete the steps below.

1. Open an Internet browser.

2. In the URL field, type http://<servername>:6433 and press Enter.

3. Click the Get Reset Code button. A code will be emailed to you.

4. Once you receive the reset code, complete steps 1 and 2 to access the screen shown above.

5. In the Reset Code field, enter the code you received in the email and click the Reset Server button.

Troubleshooting the Floating License Server


Ensure Workstations can access the floating license server
To check for attempts at unauthorized access or to check if the Workstations have issues accessing the
floating license server, complete the steps below.

1. Enable Firewall logging for dropped packets by using of the following methods.

b. Open a command window and type netsh firewall set logging droppedpackets = ENABLE

2. The Firewall log for dropped packets is generated in the following


file: %windir%\system32\logfiles\firewall\pfirewall.log.

A sample log file is shown below.

The log file shows that a machine with IP address 172.30.17.50 tried to access 172.29.11.76:6433 (the
host:port of the Cedars Floating License Server) and the firewall dropped the packets.
Error displays when you activate the Floating License Server
If the error shown below displays when you activate the floating license server, you do not have the
necessary Internet access.
