C Recommended Part be inspected and replacement if worn during Preventitive Maintenance

K2S60 Feeding Module

Overview
The K2S60 screw feeder module is designed to handle a wide range of feeding applications without the need to
physically change gears or belts. . This manual includes the spare parts for a K2S60-DR, non ATEX, feeding
module.

The feeding module consists of the following components

A Drive Train
B Screw and Tube
C Screw Drive Motor
D Horizontal Agitator

DR and Non-DR versions

K2 DR Feeder can be differented from K2 feeder by the screw locking shafts. The DR screw locking
shafts extend into the hopper area on the DR feeder. . This manual includes feeder modules used in NEC
Hazardous area classifications, but does NOT include feeder modules used in a for an EU ATEX
application.

Drive Train
The drive train (between motor output shaft and feed screw shafts) incorporates the main casting with a series of
drive pulleys and idler pulleys, three sets of belts, and two roller clutch mechanisms.

This Drivetrain is available for NEMA or IEC motors. NEMA motor mounting bolts are inserted from the inside
of the gearbox and threaded into the motor. The IEC version motors are mounted with the bolts passing through
the motor flange and threaded into the gearbox casting. Most feeders manufactured in North America have
NEMA Motors.

Sub-Assembly

The K2 subassembly includes the drive train without gearbox covers, screw and tube or motor.

Pre Seal Option

For applications with very fine or abrasive materials, the K2-DR can be provided with a Pre Seal Option to
provide additional sealing. The Pre Seal also requires air purging. This reduces material from leaking from the
around the screw shafts.

Screw Shaft Seal Kits:

Screw and Tube

Single Screws
Single-screw feeders have one screw that transports the material from the hopper to the process. The material fills
the gap between the screw and tube wall and is then pushed through the tube.

Sngle screws are designated by their type, Diameter, pitch and length. The two basic types of screws are concave
auger (B), and spirals (C). The auger screws are closed flight. The spirals are an open flight style of screws.
Coarse Pitch is often referred to as Profile A or Profile 1. Fine Pitch is often referred to as Profile B or Profile 2.
100mm Extended screw and tube are required for D-Scale applications.

These screws may or may not have an Overflight as shown below. The screws above are without overflight or
“GNL” screws. The screw below shows the overflight or “W/OF” screws. The overflight is only in the bowl
area.

Screws with outboard bearing have a bearing support extension. This extension is 4.9 inches and is in addition to
the total length (TL) listed for the screws. Outboard bearing screws require a Tube with outboard bearings.

Discharge Tubes

Glassbeaded tubes are standard for volumetric feeders and for loss in weight feeders. Electropolished tubes can
also be supplied if required. The Discharge Tube length must match the length of the screw and diameter.
Extended screws may require discharge tubes with outboard bearing support. The standard tube length is 120 mm
(4.72 in) for both the Horizontal and Vertical Tubes. The vertical discharge sections adds to the overall length

A S60 feeder has an option for horizontal agitator to aid material flow in the feed hopper section. With the DR
feeder, the feeder bowl is either Agitated or Non-Agitated.

Special Options
Seal Purge

Seal Purge is used to apply positive pressure in the seal to prevent material from passing through the sealing
system. This is typical used with very fine powders. The standard screw and agitator seals can be purged.

Inline Reducer
A 5:1 inline reducer can be added to the K2 small line feeders. This additional reduction will apply to
both High and Low speeds.

The K2 motor input uses a NEMA 56C motor flange with a 30mm long shaft. The input for the inline
reducer requires a 48mm (1.875 inch) motor shaft. To add the inline reducer in the field requires
replacing the screw drive motor.

Because the standard speed pickup sensor would be after the inline reducer, a Dynapar speed feedback
ring kit with a 120 tooth gear is added for speed feedback to the motor drive controller.

Because the additional torque from the inline reducer exceeds the K2 design limits, the motor drive
system must be programmed to limit the motor to a maximum of 200 Watts.
