Do professional website builders use

WordPress?
WordPress is the most-used and most popular content management system
that runs the web. Since its creation in 2003, It has been able to accumulate
more than 65% of CMS based websites and a market share of over 43% of all
websites on the internet. The remaining proportion is filled by other custom-
built websites and content management systems.

Although inexperienced users are now able to run their websites without much
assistance, the majority of the important and well-known websites are built
and managed by specialized development teams and expert web developers.

Just like other experienced programmers, good web developers usually retain
an umbrella of available web tools and platforms to pick from. They can use
any of them to build websites and manage their content easily and effectively.
In most cases, WordPress is on top of the list.

So, why do professional web developers use WordPress despite they have
many other “exclusive” options?

Quite simply, because they should not reinvent the wheel!

All content management systems aim at providing solutions to do specific

common tasks. They are right here to make our lives easier. Similarly, the idea
of WordPress is to bring ready tools to dynamically manage the content of
specific kinds of websites. For any professional programmer, re-building or
resembling what WordPress quite does is totally nothing other than wasting a
great deal of time and effort.

Even so, the choice to opt for a WordPress site or not is totally up to the web
developer’s decision. This is often driven by the requirements of the client and
the size/type of the anticipated project.

Should Web Developers LEARN WordPress?

As we all know, WordPress is a powerful tool to build websites using interactive

user interfaces and drag-and-drop features. So, it doesn’t require much coding

and technical skills to work with. Sign In Get started

But like any other advanced tool, anyone needs to learn WordPress to leverage
its full capabilities.

1. Using WordPress: which instructs how to install the platform and build the
website, using its built-in functionalities and available plugins and themes.
This kind of skill is easy to learn for anyone and doesn’t cover altering
WordPress functionalities or building customized add-ons.

2. Coding with WordPress: this would require additional coding skills to

develop custom plugins, to alter the default behavior and add extra
functionalities. Such skills are usually advanced and require programming
experiences in multiple languages and techniques, such as PHP, HTML, and
MySQL

W hy To Learn Web Development W hen There is WordPress

Besides WordPress, many other web development tools are already existing,
and most of them are available for non-technical users. This makes it easy for
anyone to build and run a website.

1. On the first hand, WordPress is a web CMS platform that anyone can use to
build a website. It comes which everything you need to serve what it was
developed for. Regardless of your technical and coding skills, you can learn
WordPress and have your website up and ready in a very short time. But in
most cases, you will definitely stick to what the platform brings to you.

2. On the other hand, web development is a broad and comprehensive field

that involves developing websites and web applications. It ranges from
creating a simple single static page to complex web applications. Web
development has its scientific bases, methodologies, languages,
techniques, and standards. It is not something that you can learn in a short
time. Instead, it often requires years of studying and training to obtain a
relevant certificate.

With that in mind, having skills in WordPress means being able to build a
WordPress website, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you are a web developer.
To expand outside of what the platform does, you definitely need to learn web
development.
