Should I go and campaign
though resources are limited
Or plant a tree with a friend
although time is restricted?
Should I stand still and eat dough instead
Or go and till the soil and let boughs grow?
`
Fill in the table with words being underlined in the poem.

What is It

The underlined words in the poem are irregularly spelled words.

Irregularly spelled words are words that is spelled contrary to the way
it is sound. Spelled differently and sound differently makes a word spelled
irregularly. A word maybe spelled irregularly if it contains vowel digraphs and
diphthongs. Beginning spellers misspelled the word because it does not follow
regular sounds of the alphabet.

Example:
1. cow – the diphthong /aʊ/ in cow is represented as the digraph
“ow”.
Eg. Mouth, house, brown, out, pout, scout

2. rough – the digraph gh will sometimes make no sound when reading

words containing it. Other times it will make an f sound that causes the
speller to misspell the word.
Eg. enough, plough, though, through , slough

3. said – the digraph ai stands for the diphthong e makes the word an
irregularly spelled word.
