STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS/NEEDS:
The unavailability of healthy and clean water in certain area of Osun State most especially in
some parts of Iree Community is worrisome and perplexing as it is widely known that there are
diverse diseases that can be contacted through water. Many students and indigene of this
community opt for flowing streams and uncovered wells which are not secure and causing
endangerment to lives at a very high level.
Easy access to water is eminent in our day to day activities to have a healthy living as a healthy
water makes a healthy life.
Among many social responsibilities the government is saddled with is the provision of potable
water. The availability of water in certain areas of Iree Community is at low level and most of
the boreholes provided by the government has stop functioning which prompt some of the
residents to use unhealthy water and put their lives at risk, as the slogan of the business says a
healthy water makes a healthy life.
OBJECTIVES
The main aim of this business is to make the availability of potable water in Osun State, Iree
most especially easy and with no stress
Other objectives of this business includes:
* To make availability of water easier for Osun State Residents
* To provide potable and healthy water to Osun State Residents
* To promote a healthy environment through a healthy water.
The above listed reasons for the establishment of this business are to tackle problems facing
residents of the state in which unavailability of healthy water is among and this business will
tackle this by providing healthy water even at an affordable price. Another is the stress faced by
the people before getting water which the business will reduce by supplying the water to the
nearest point of the subscribers.
METHODS/ACTIVITIES
The methods of operation of this business will be base on the agreement between the company
and all interested community. To get this agreement, a letter will be sent to each chairman of the
interested communities after which the community will agree with the company so as to have a
distribution unit in each community for quick and easy distribution.
Meanwhile before distribution, every interested members of each community would have
created an account with the company to get their username for monthly payment and which will
be attached to their respective water for identification.
The water would be taken to nearest point of neighboring customers to ease their stress and
problems concerning getting water.
Moreso, different distribution cars will be assigned to different nearest points of the subscribers
(customers) to make the distribution effective. The distribution will be base on the username
given to each subscribers and base on time of payment.
In addition to these, a person (customer attendant) will be with the different drivers to be
notifying the company about the delivery to each customers using their username. If there is any
complain or opinion, customers can go to their nearest distribution unit to lodge it to the Unit
Distribution Manager for proper assessment.
RESOURCES
For the effectiveness, smooth running and success of this business, there are certain resources
which need to be put in place which include:
* People: This are the personnel that will be employed to carry out the daily task in different
distribution unit of every community starting from the Drivers, the Customer Attendants, the
Unit Distribution Managers, the Unit Auditors, General Auditors and the Customer Care
Helpline Respondent among others.
* Equipments: These are other materials like Distribution Cars, Large Tanks for pumping before
distribution, Pumping Machine, Buckets that will be assigned to customers, Two(2) deep Wells
in each Unit e.t.c.
* Funding: The propose amount for this business is Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000000.00)
which will be used to get the necessary equipments, maintain daily operation of the business like
payment of staffs and for smooth running of the business.
* Software: Among the resources needed is the software for subscribers identification through a
username. This username when input into the software after registration will be used for payment
and request for the service when needed.
SCHEDULE
This business does not have a specific ending time, mainly due to the importance of water in our
day to day activities. Another reason for this is the problem of unavailability of healthy or
potable water even in some areas where there is excess water and this business will serve as
another source of getting water for such subscribers.
Depending on the size of the community, the schedule of this business is to group each
community into units and further sub-grouped into Side A and Side B which is determined by the
closeness in the location of subscribers. Base on the agreement between the company and all
interested communities, each Units will have a Unit Distribution Manager who will be manning
the affairs of the business in the units, each side will be given water on different days (e.g if
water is distributed to Side A on Monday, it will be Side Bs turn on Tuesday e.t.c). This simply
means that if Side A is given water today, side B will be given the next day.
JUSTIFICATION
Assessing the strength of this business, it would be notice that it will be a great benefit to the
residents of Osun State most especially those residing in Iree community considering the
problems they face in getting potable water quickly and without stress.
In certain areas of the community, despite the abundance of water source the difficulty most of
the residents face is the potability of this water. This business will improve the quality of life of
the residents by providing water both for consumption and cooking among other importance/uses
of water.
Furthermore, the burden and stress of finding water in the nearest place will be reduced as this
business will distribute water to the subscribers even at their nearest point which will create for
peace of mind among the residents.
In conclusion, the scarcity of water in dry seasons and harmattan season will be minimized as
required water will be distributed to subscribers irrespective of the season.
BUDGET
The total amount needed for the establishment and running of this business is Ten Million Naira
(N10,000000.00) which will be directly source for from a Microfinance Bank with both parties
(the Company and the Bank) coming to an agreement.
It is widely accepted that the backbone of every business is Capital which will be used in
managing it. The amount stated will be used in getting certain things done among which payment
of staffs is included during the first stage of the business
.Furthermore, there will be need for 3(three) Distribution Cars which will be used for the
distribution of waters to the subscribers. The amount allocated to each car is Seven Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Naira (N750,000.00) which altogether is Two Million Two Hundred and fifty
Thousand Naira (N2,250,000.00).
In addition to this, Four Water Drums for storing water will be located at each Distribution Unit
and each cost Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) which equals to Two Hundred Thousand Naira
(N200,000). The amount for the distribution buckets is also approximated to Fifty Thousand
Naira (N50,000) which makes to unit Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000).
Two(2) deep large Wells approximated Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) will also be
located in each unit which makes two units Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N400,000). Two(2)
Big Pumping machines are also needed for pumping in each unit, a big pumping machine is at
the rate of Five Hundred Thousand (N500,000) which make the price for the two units Two
Million Naira (N2,000000.00)
For Power Supply, a standard generator will be required for each Unit which cost Five Hundred
Thousand (N500,000) with two making One Million Naira (N1,000000).
MEASUREMENT
The auditing of this business is on weekly basis. The reason for choosing week auditing is to
allow new subscribers to get distribution the week after registration so as to quick input of their
details and payment of staffs not to be affected. This will also allow the Units Distribution
Manager to report to the Managing Director in time.
As the business progresses and the number of customers increases, more Distribution cars will
be allocated to Distribution units to make the distribution of water effective and less time
consuming.
Moreover, there will be a supervising body which will be monitoring the activities of this
business who will make the necessary adjustment if the proposed activities failed to go as
planned.
