Juna Corazon G. Poblacio

Guidelines on the Implementation of the Results-based Performance

Management System in the time of COVID -19 highlighted the alternative work
arrangements of the teachers to the school. It also outlined the specific guidelines
including protocols anchored on the delivery of instructions through the different
modalities appropriate in the local condition and consistent with the COVID- 19
regulations.
The presenter reiterated the prescribed RPMS tools for teachers in every
designations that will not burden them due to community quarantine declarations in
the area where the school is located. The orientation also guided us on our teaching
practices and asses if these practices matches the performance expected from us.
The tool made it easier for us teachers because it reduces the required
means of verification in which we only have now two classroom observation. We also
have three options on how our school head will rate and assist us. In the new
guidelines, the teacher may submit recorded video lesson, actual online class
observation and through a SLAC session as long as the teacher meets the three
main objectives of the RPMS.
Overall, the presentation of the RPMS in time of the COVID-19 main objective
is for teachers to be creative. It gained us more confidence because it affirms on what
we always believed that teaching is not just about physical interactions with the
students. In line of being creative, RPMS also challenged us to extend more our
knowledge specifically in the technology aspects that teaching and learning process
is not only in the four areas of the classroom. It determines us in which area we need
to up skill ourselves to improve our practice and teaching strategies especially this
time of pandemic.
