 CHAPTER – I

Counseling for Admissions

1. Diploma courses and duration of the course:

The University has established Polytechnics in various places in the State of Andhra
Pradesh and also accorded affiliation to a few Private Polytechnics to boost the agriculture and
allied sector and to generate technically trained manpower.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) offers

following Four Diploma Programmes

1. Diploma in Agriculture : 2 Years

2. Diploma in Seed Technology : 2 Years
3. Diploma in Organic Agriculture : 2 Years
4. Diploma in Agricultural Engineering : 3 Years
(All the Diploma courses offered by ANGRAU are in English Medium).

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University

1. Diploma in Animal Husbandry : 2 Years
(Medium – English)

Dr. YSR Horticultural University

1. Diploma in Horticulture : 2 Years
(Medium – English)

A.P Fisheries University

1. Diploma in Fishery Sciences : 2 Years
(Medium - English)

Future Prospects:

o 15% of total intake (of that corresponding academic year) of B.Sc. (Hons)
Agriculture is reserved for the passed-out Diploma holders for admission into
First year B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture through AGRICET entrance examination
conducted by ANGRAU.
o Candidates who have passed three years Diploma in Agricultural Engineering are
eligible for admission into B. Tech (Ag. Engg.) through lateral entry via ECET.
o After completion of Diploma in Horticulture course under Dr.YSRHU, the
students should appear for HORTICET Entrance exam conducted by Dr.YSR
Horticultural University to get admission into B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture course.
Around 92 seats of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture course will be allotted to the
Diploma in Horticulture candidates through HORTICET.
o NOTE: As per GO Rt. No.17 Dt. 10-02-2021, Govt. of A. P, Permission has been
accorded to Universities, Colleges and Institutes etc., to admit 2 year diploma
holders awarded by ANGRAU, Dr YSR HU & SVVU into B.Sc. Biology stream
 programmes/combinations, B. Voc. Programmes in Agriculture and Horticulture
programmes and other relevant disciplines as well as B. Com and B. A without
Mathematics and Statistics

2. Eligibility: The candidates should fulfill the following criteria

i) The candidates who wish to seek admission into Diploma Courses should have rank in AGRI
POLYCET-2022 conducted by ANGRAU, Lam, Guntur on 01.07.2022.

ii) Candidate should have passed SSC Examination conducted by State Board of Secondary
Education, A.P./T.S. or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board
of Secondary Education, A.P./T.S. such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),
Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open School (NIOS),
A.P. Open School Society (APOSS), Telangana Open School Society (TOSS).

3. Age Limit:
Candidates who wish to seek admission into these courses shall have to complete 15 years of age
as on 31-08-2022 with an upper age limit of 22 years (Born in between 31.08.2000 and
31.08.2007).

4. Reservation of Seats:

a) Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from Rural Area:

Seventy five (75 %) of the seats in various diploma courses are reserved for the candidates
who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas and
Twenty five (25 %) seats are reserved for the candidates who have studied in Municipal area.

 FORM-I: It is a proforma to be certified by the Headmaster of the School with his office
seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in schools located
in Non-Municipal areas during their period of study from 1 st class to 10th class (Non-
Municipal Area Certificate).

 If FORM-I is not filled in or duly signed by the concerned Head of Institution or officer
along with office seal, the claim of the candidates will be rejected and will be considered
under Municipal area (Urban).

b) Reservations:

 The rule of reservation will be followed as per the rules.

BC-B : 10 %
BC-C : 1%
BC-D : 7%
BC-E : 4%
SC : 15 %
ST : 6%
 The rules of reservation shall be followed as per the guidelines issued by the
Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.

 The reservation for the Physically Challenged (PH @ 3%), Children of Armed Personnel
(CAP @ 2%), National Cadet Corps (NCC @ 1%) and SPORTS (@0.5%) quota seats
shall also be followed as per the rules. The certificates of the candidates of above special
categories shall be verified by the concerned officers and the seats will be allotted as per
the priorities indicated by them during counseling.

 10 per cent supernumerary seats shall be made available under EWS category

 33.33 % seats are reserved for girl students in all the above categories.

5. Allocation of seats:

Among the total seats, 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates and 15% of seats
are Un-Reserved and will be filled on merit basis. Among the local 85 per cent, the seats shall be
allotted on 42:22 ratio among Andhra University (AU) region (Former Districts of Srikakulam,
Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam)
and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) region (Former Districts of Chittoor, Ananthapur,
Kurnool, Kadapa and Nellore).

Residential Certificate:

Applicants who have gap/break in the years of study for reasons other than failure or those who
passed the qualifying examination by private study have to submit Residential Certificate issued
by the Tahsildar. In case, the applicant has resided in more than one place, a separate certificate
from the respective Tahsildars should be furnished for such places of residence.

6. Counseling Fee:

1. Payment of counseling fee for SC/ST/PH candidates is Rs.400/- (for all other candidates
Rs.600/-). The applicant has to select the Rupay Debit Card/UPI/Debit Card /Credit Card
(Visa / Master Card)/Internet Banking option to pay the fee and follow the online instruction
to complete the payment of the fee.
2. If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat before the closure of admissions for the
Academic Year 2022-23 an amount of Rs. 1,000/- shall be collected as processing fee.
The remaining fees already paid during admission shall be refunded.
3. If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat after closure of admissions process for the
AY 2022-23 the candidate has to forfeit the fees already paid and in addition, he/she has
to pay processing of Rs. 1,000/-.

Hostel facility:
Accommodation for students shall be provided on payment basis in both Government and
affiliated polytechnics subject to the availability.

8. Original certificates to be produced at the time of Counselling/Admission:

 SSC Memorandum of Marks or Equivalent Examination Certificate.
 AGRIPOLYCET-2022 Rank Card.
 Bonafide / Study Certificate from 4th to 10th Class.
 Transfer certificate of SSC
 Non-Municipal Area Study Certificate (FORM-I enclosed in this prospectus).
 The latest certified copy of the Social Status (Caste) Certificate issued by the competent
authority in case of applicants belonging to EWS, Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and
Scheduled Tribes.
 Physically Challenged Certificate, if applicable.
 Discharge Certificate and ID card for Children of Armed Personnel Certificate / Defense
Personnel Certificate, if applicable.
 National Cadet Corps (NCC) certificate, if applicable.
 Sports and Games Certificates (Form-I/Form-II/Form-III/Form-IV as applicable).
 Income certificate for the candidates who applied under EWS only

9. IMPORTANT NOTES:

 Universities are intended to impart education to students, undertake research and extension
activities. Hence, University does not guarantee any employment to the students who
completes the course.
 ANGRAU reserves the right to modify or cancel the notification without any prior
notice
 Candidates are required to read the PROSPECTUS thoroughly before applying.
 The guidelines issued by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time shall be
followed scrupulously including the reservations for EWS.
 The University shall send SMS to the applicant’s registered mobile for the purposes related to
counseling. Hence, the candidates are informed to mention their personal mobile numbers but
not the mobile numbers of relatives, friends, net/online/Xerox centers etc. Once submitted,
the mobile number cannot be changed.
 The selected candidates for admission into Diploma courses of ANGRAU shall have to pay
the prescribed fees immediately at the time of admission (The detailed fee structure given
above).
 Once payment is made, it cannot be refunded under any circumstances, hence, the
candidates should ensure that he/she fulfils the specified eligibility criteria before
submitting the online application for counseling.
 Applicants should exercise web options through online at specified dates for choosing their
preferences with respect to Diploma programmes and Polytechnics. SMS alert shall be sent to
registered mobile number for this purpose.
 Candidates are informed that mere submission of an online application and attending for
counseling does not guarantee seat allotment.
 Candidates called for Manual/Special/mop up counseling will have to attend at their own cost
only. Either Parent/ Guardian of the candidate shall be allowed for Manual/ Special/ Mop
up counseling.
 The candidate who secures a seat should submit the all the certificates in Original along with
the prescribed fees at the time of admission either through online counseling or at the time
Manual/ Special/ Mop up counseling.
 The certificates of the candidates under special categories (PH, CAP, NCC & SPORTS)
shall be verified by the authorities concerned. The University will not interfere in the
process of preparation of priority/merit lists. The University allots seats to the
candidates based on the priorities indicated by the competent authorities.
 The Counseling/Verification under special categories (PH, CAP, NCC & SPORTS) will be
held in the presence of authorities concerned and seats will be allotted as per the priorities
indicated by the officers concerned.
 In case, the information furnished or the certificates uploaded by the candidates are found to
be false, the University will take appropriate action against the individuals concerned and
his/her application will be summarily rejected.
 The candidate are thoroughly advised to visit the University website (www.angrau.ac.in)
regularly for updated and latest information about counselling
 Information related to counseling procedure shall be displayed on the University website
(www.angrau.ac.in). No separate notifications shall be issued further and hence
applicants are advised to visit the website regularly.
 Student can approach any of the nearest AP online /Help line centers.
