22
LESSON 3
Using Paragraph Tools

23
BULLETS
• Bullet point is a symbol that is used to
introduce separate items present in a
vertical list, sentences, or paragraphs. It is
also used to write important information
within a document.
• The advantage of bullet points is that it
allows readers to quickly read and
understand the important part of the
document, important heading, and more.
• A bullet point contains a variety of
symbols, including black dots, open
circles, rectangles, squares, diamonds,
dashes, checkmarks, asterisk, arrows,
and more.

24
NUMBERINGS
• You can tell Word to start from any
number you prefer, restart numbering
from 1, or continue numbering.

25
INCREASE INDENT / DECREASE INDENT
• Indents are useful tools for making your
text more readable.
• Indenting text adds structure to your
document by allowing you to separate
information.
• Depending on your needs, you can use
tabs and indents to move a single line or
an entire paragraph.

26
SORT
• you can alphabetize the
data in both alphabetical
and numerical order, so
that the data in Word
document appears in
ascending (A to Z or 1 to
9) or descending (Z to A
or 9 to 1) order.

27
ALIGN TEXT
• You can change the text alignment in your
document to make it more presentable
and readable.

• Align Text Left: Aligns all selected text to

the left margin
• Center: Aligns text an equal distance from
the left and right margins
• Align Text Right: Aligns all selected text to
the right margin
• Justify: Aligns text equally on both sides
and lines up equally to the right and left
margins; used by many newspapers and
magazines

28
LINE SPACING
• Line spacing can either be measured
in lines or points.
• For example, when text is double
spaced, the line spacing is two lines
high.
• You can reduce the line spacing to fit
more lines on the page, or you can
increase it to improve readability.

29
PARAGRAPH SPACING
• Just as you can format spacing
between lines in your document, you
can choose spacing options between
each paragraph.
• Typically, extra spaces are added
between paragraphs, headings, or
subheadings.
• Extra spacing between paragraphs
can make a document easier to read.

30
PARAGRAPH SPACING

31
SHADING
• Change the color behind
the selected
text,paragraph or table
cell
• This is especially useful
when you want
information to jump off
the page
