ABSTRACT
All Bachelor degree students are required to undergo industrial training for 22 to 24
weeks as a part of their curriculum to complete their 4-year course for the Bachelor of
Technology. The attachment will be during the final (8th) semester of their study. During the 22
weeks period of training, students will be supervised and monitored by their supervisors.
The industrial training was done at PYROTECH ELECTRONICS PVT. LTD. which is situated
in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is India’s one of the leading manufacturers of Automation & Control
Equipments and perhaps one of the largest customized Control Equipment manufacturing
companies in India. With the technical prowess accumulated over years of experience, it provide
complete in-house engineering solutions, working together seamlessly to handle the project from
a single prototype to fully finished and assembled products. One of the major success factors for
the growth is the way people are selected, trained, organized and motivated. Customized training
programs continuously help acquire knowledge & skills. It is a heavy industry company which
has 3 units in which it works.
First of all, the company provided knowledge about the basic operations in PYROTECH
ELECTRONICS PVT.LTD. That includes the use of various type of machining processes like
welding, cutting, pressing, shearing etc. The Company also assigned the task to research and
analyze about the smart poles which they are going to introduce in our city where the key
learning was for the smart poles, their importance and the operations done on them.
Then comes the interaction part with the outside companies that can provide PYROTECH the
raw materials required in building or introducing the smart pole containing all the important
features like Solar charging panel, Wi-Fi access points, Dynamic display board etc. For the last 4
months, the agenda was to learn about these companies and how these raw materials can be
useful for prime benefits at minimum cost.
The primary function of the smart poles is to provide street lighting, mobile broadband
infrastructure, Wi-Fi hotspot services and surveillance camera. These facilities will be connected
to the central command and control Centre (C4) where it will be constantly monitored and
managed. So the basic work was to research about the companies providing the above services,
the Bidder may also use the smart pole for other commercial purposes, namely, smart bill board,
electronic vehicle charging, environmental sensor etc. Then the task was to ensure that the
primary functions are not hampered in any way while using the same for other commercial
purposes.
vi
The intelligent street pole is designed primarily for lighting while at the same time taking
cognizance of the requirements of other functions. Hence the height of the pole has to be
constant except in junctions where the lighting is required to be from a higher point. The inter se
distance between the smart poles may be finalized based on requirements of 4G with provision to
upgrade to 5G and further as may evolve during Bidder period. Other functions shall also be
built into the intelligent street pole an aesthetic manner without affecting over all functionality.

remotely or triggered by specified actions configured in software.
IP video is the next generation of security surveillance which has replaced traditional
“CCTV” (Closed Circuit Television) systems. Most of us have seen the images
provided by CCTV systems throughout our lives. CCTV used “analogue” video
cameras to transmit signals down a coaxial cable to a video monitor or recorder. High
definition IP cameras are “digital” just like your digital camera, and the video footage
7
they create is stored and transmitted using the same type of technology as the Blu-Ray
player in your home theatre, or your PC when streaming video over the internet
They can improve parking and traffic management through real-time data, leading to
a reduction in congestion and emissions. Intelligent poles can also monitor air
quality, detect and notify officials about street flooding.

METHODOLOGY ADOPTED
1. Firstly, the work was to do research about smart poles and what all
features can be included in the smart pole additionally which can be
beneficial for both the people of Udaipur and the company.
2. Then the work was to list out all the raw material required by the
company to construct the planned smart pole including all the
components.
3. Next, the task was to take the guidance of the company’s internal
officials for obtaining the names of their personally recommended
companies.
4. Also there was use of the internet to find some companies which can be
useful for the material supply for the smart pole in addition to the
companies suggested by the internal officials.
5. Then there comes the communication process initiated with the
recommended companies and the companies which were found through
internet database.
6. And in the next step it started with data interpretation of the matter
disclosed by the companies whom were contacted through query
section.
7. After the interpretation, data screening was done which excluded the
companies which were not suiting Pyrotech’s revenue value on an
economic scale.
8. As the screening process terminated, the final chosen company was
selected for the material supply which was based purely on dimensional
criterion so as to fulfil Pyrotech’s desired dimensions in the product.
9. Lastly, the evaluation work was done by keeping all the factors related
to the company’s policy in mind to determine whether the marketing
process would be fair or not & hence the submission report will be
made.

CHAPTER-7
CONCLUSION
For over 30 years, LEDs have been used in a variety of areas, including industrial
systems, vehicle lights and advertising. In recent years, the technology has been
applied to outdoor lighting applications, delivering extensive benefits in the form of
energy cost savings, operational efficiencies and CO2 reductions.
The smart pole market is expected to be valued at USD 16.65 Billion by 2023,
growing at a CAGR of 19.99% between 2017 and 2023. Some of the key factors
driving the importance of smart poles are the need for energy-efficient pole lighting
systems, increasing government initiatives for smart cities, and advantage of
preventing traffic jams and accidents.
The smart pole system has various advantages over conventional street lights such as
reduced maintenance costs, real-time reports and controllability, less environmental
impact, etc. The smart pole could be seen as a revolution in the street pole industry
and would create ample opportunities for the players operating in the field of smart
devices, street light systems, internet connectivity, and communication devices,
among others, in the coming years.
Transportation applications:
Through the integration of motion sensors, counters and cameras into lighting
infrastructure, innovative traffic optimization and smart parking applications are
being created by companies like Cisco and Cleverciti. These applications aim to
reduce congestion in urban areas and improve the efficiency of transportation
networks.
Public safety and security:
Through the use of sensors and cameras integrated with streetlights, a number of
applications have been developed that aim to improve public safety. For example:
motion sensors can detect when a pedestrian is approaching and lighting levels are
automatically increased to improve visibility. Alternatively, pedestrian counters can
be integrated into the distributed lighting network, which can feed real-time data to
people walking home at night and suggest the safest walking path based on the
number of other people on the route. In the USA, noise sensors have been mounted on
lamp posts and can triangulate gunshots and automatically alert authorities.
32
Public Wi-Fi and internet provision:
Due to the widespread nature of streetlights in urban areas, they are well placed to
host distributed connectivity infrastructure that can be used to provide public Wi-Fi,
or communication networks for IoT devices. Bristol has used lamp posts to create a
mesh network that will enable IoT devices to be implemented at scale, providing a
test facility to network operators, application developers and device manufacturers.
Conversely, Los Angeles is allowing Ericsson to integrate small cells into their smart
lighting infrastructure, with a view to renting out the additional capacity to mobile
operators. While greatly improving connectivity across the city, it is also hoped that
this innovative approach will generate a new revenue stream for the city.
Electric vehicle (EV) charging:
It is widely accepted that electric vehicles are the future of the motor industry.
However, lack of charging infrastructure is inhibiting adoption, particularly amongst
those without off-street parking. An increasing number of companies are providing
solutions which allow electric vehicle charging points to be integrated into lamp
posts. This cost-effective method of providing EV charging infrastructure in dense
urban and residential areas is being trialled by a number of cities including Munich,
Oxford and the borough of Hounslow in London.
Digital Signage:
Lastly, due to their regular positioning, power and connectivity, smart streetlights
provide an ideal base for digital signage solutions. Dynamic digital signage systems
can be used for traffic management, pedestrian wayfinding, general public
communication or in emergency situations to direct the public. There is also the
potential for cities to rent out lamp post mounted digital signage space for advertising
purposes, again generating another revenue stream for the city. This model has been
proven successful by LinkNYC who are expected to generate over $1 billion in
advertising revenues in their first 10 years of operation.
Operational barriers:
Due to the number of services that could be hosted by smart street lights, operational
barriers are likely to arise, caused by the siloed nature of many city governments, and
the need to secure the cooperation of multiple industry stakeholders.
Security barriers:
As the number of connected components increases, the surface for cyber-attacks
rapidly expands. Cities will need to ensure systems are secured appropriately in order
33
to avoid malicious online attacks and maintain the trust of citizens. Secondly, with the
proliferation of data collection devices, citizens have expressed growing concerns
about privacy.
Infrastructure barriers:
Lastly, with the integration of multiple applications into smart lighting infrastructure,
there is a real risk that the systems will become overwhelmingly complex and too
difficult to implement. To mitigate this risk, it is recommended that cities deploy
additional solutions in an incremental fashion, ensuring value is being delivered
before adding another solution.
Despite these barriers, there is huge potential for smart lighting infrastructure to
service as a multi-functional smart city platform, capable of monitoring everything
from crime, to parking, to weather. Streetlights are ubiquitous in urban areas, can
provide power to data collection devices and are increasingly enabled with
connectivity capabilities. The promise of this approach is not so much in the
generation of new data, but in the streetlight’s ability to converge previously disparate
systems, and enable the development of solutions and services that combine data from
a variety of sources to improve services and generate new revenue streams. While
business cases for many applications still require strengthening, it is almost certain
that lamp posts will be used for more than illumination in years to come.
Hence following points were considered as the major learning’s here:-
What Smart pole is
Smart pole’s importance in smart city
Preventive measures taken in installing the poles at various places
The different Raw materials required by the company to build the smart
pole and about the companies that can provide those raw materials.
How to communicate with different company professionals for the raw
materials
How to maximize the economy of the company with minimum
investments.
