Compliance Strategies
All the Non-Repeating Thermal Bridges (i.e. junctions of floor and roof with the external wall, and details around
window and door openings) shall be reduced by designing all insulating building components to work in unison and
by creating barrier to heat flow in building envelope. The insulation shall be reviewed in relation to its location within
wall and roofs, its interface/connectivity with surrounding or penetration materials and connectivity within & between
insulating
components.
Following are the general strategies to be adopted at a minimum in order to achieve minimize thermal bridges:
- All the gaps between ceiling and walls shall be sealed with either plaster, adhesive or flexible sealant.
- All the gaps between walls and floor shall be sealed with either plaster, adhesive or flexible sealant.
- All the penetrations through air barrier shall be sealed by using a flexible sealant.
- All the penetrations around windows & door openings shall be sealed by using a flexible sealant.
- Partially filled insulation shall be secured firmly against inner leaf of wall.
- Provide full depth insulation between and over joists extending to inner edge of wall.
- Cavities shall be kept clean of mortar snots and other debris during construction.
- Provide a continuous air barrier of masonry inner leaf with wet-finish plaster alongside of internal wall, floor and
ceilings. Apply flexible sealant to all interfaces between internal air barriers and window/door frames.
Drawings for acceptable construction details shall be prepared by the contractor and approval has to be taken from
the consultant prior to proceed for the construction in relevance to the above
requirements.
