VPN Connectivity Guide

For Windows:

1. Visit URL: https://vpn.iitp.ac.in/


2. Login with LDAP Username and Password (LDAP username &
Password is same which is used for access internet facilities
using “TESTING” Wi-Fi at Hostel).
3. Download Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and install it
on your computer. The OS and type of installer will automatically
detect and shown by browser. Click on “Instructions” to see the
installation process with screenshot.
4. Go to Start menu and Open “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility
Client”.
5. Before connect click on “Settings” icon and unchecked last check
box (Block connection to untrusted servers)

6. Under VPN section type “vpn.iitp.ac.in” and click Connect


button.
7. Accept Security Warning and Click on “Connect Anyway”.

8. Provide your LDAP username and password.

9. Now you are connected to IIT Patna VPN.


For Linux:

3. Download Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and install it
on your computer. The OS and type of installer will automatically
detect and shown by browser. Click on “Download for Linux”
(Figure 1). Your download will start.

4. The downloaded “pkg” file is saved in Downloads directory by default.
5. Open Terminal and follow the steps below:
(i) Go to Downloads directory where the pkg file is downloaded.
$ cd ~/Downloads
(ii) $ sudo sh ./anyconnect-linux64-4.7.04056-core-vpn-webdeploy-
k9.sh (See figure 2 below)
(iii) Provide your admin password when prompted.

(iv) Cisco AnyConnect client is now installed on your linux device.


(v) Open AnyConnect client from your GUI dashboard.

(vi) Click on Settings button as shown in the figure 3 above to open
Preferences. In the dialog box, “Un-check” the option of ‘Block
connections to untrusted servers’ and close.
(vii) Under “Connection” tab, type “vpn.iitp.ac.in” and Provide
your LDAP username and password. Then, click Connect
button.
6. Accept Security Warning and Click on “Connect Anyway”.

7. Now you are connected to IIT Patna VPN.
