I. General Safety Rules

 Read the manual carefully please, for correctly use the flake ice machine

 The machine should be installed and maintained by skilled person

 Choose a proper crane equipment for lifting the machine

 Make sure the hands, hair or clothes away from the ice cutter or fan

 Take appropriate ventilation measures, to prevent suffocation resulted by

refrigerant leakage

 Pay attention to the signs on the machine, such as DANGER, CAUTION,

WARNING and so on

 Take appropriate measures to prevent freezing if in cold environment

III.Working principle
The working principle is the closed loop heat exchange of refrigerant. Outside
water flow into the tank, the water is pumped into the water distribution pan by the
circulating pump. Driven by the reducer, the water in the pan evenly flows down
the inner wall of evaporator. The refrigerant in the refrigeration system
evaporates through the loop inside the evaporator and absorbs large amount of
heat by exchanging heat with the water on the wall. As a result, the water flow
over the surface of inner evaporator wall sharply cools down to below the
freezing point and freezes into ice instantaneously. Part of the water film
attached the bottom of evaporator and then into the water for recycling. When
the ice on the inner wall reaches a certain thickness, spiral ice blade is driven by
the peel ice from the inner wall. Thus ice flakes form, fall into the ice storage bin
at the bottom of ice flakers and stored for future cycling.

IV.Flake ice machine installation

I. Basic installation requirements

• Power supply requirements:380V, 50 Hz, 3Phase with five line

• Installation location requirements: the place should be well-ventilated, avoid

damp, away from the heating equipment, avoid in the sunshine place, the
best temperature is 5˚C - 50˚C

• Firstly fix the ice evaporator, refrigeration system unit, air condenser unit on
the installation place, then connect the returning air pipes, and
refrigerant liquid pipes by copper pipes. Then connect the air discharge
pipes and liquid discharge pipes between refrigeration unit and air
condenser by copper pipes.

• Pump vacuum of ice evaporator and air condenser 2 (two) hours. Then
open all the stop valve, input around 30kgs R404A refrigerant, turn on the
flake ice machine, go on input refrigerant according to the pressure status
(high pressure around 1.5Mpa,low pressure around 0.15Mpa)

• Connect related electricity wire of motor of ice evaporator and wire of air
fan of air condenser to electric control box according to electric board
drawing

• Before turn on the flake ice machine, firstly operate related contactor of
each motor to check if motor is forward (right) rotation, and the standard
rotation for reducer is anticlockwise, the rotation for fan of air cooling
condenser is clockwise

II. Water system installation

Water inlet pipe connected to the container at the iron mesh water inlet
connector, The outlet connected a hose connected to the trench inside, With
a good water pipes connected to the tap water, observe the water
level situation, if the water level higher than the overflow nozzle of the
evaporator, should adjust the ball float valve (by adjusting the butterfly nut
control) as shown in Figure, to ensure the water level in the box not lower than
the bottom edge of overflow nozzle of the ice drum(evaporator),before the
TURN ON, and not higher than the upper edge of the overflow nozzle of the
ice drum(evaporator),after the TURN OFF.

For In the cold season or cold area, make sure insulation of the water pipe, in
order to avoid the cracking of the pipe, If the water level of the water box is

too high or too low, adjust the float valve, to get a optimizing level.

3. Connection of circuits

Installation should accord to the power requirements, Rated Volts is 380V,

±10% deviation is allowed, match the right wires, 3 live lines, 1 Earth line, 1

Ground-Wire, make sure the correct phase sequence. All the wires should be
connected firmly. The user should provide three-phase five lines power with
35 mm² cable, and a 150A air switch. Make sure the water source and power
supply is ok, then turn on the machine. Ice machine provides the power
for the three-phase five-wire installation careful to distinguish between

the live line with the earth line. Power cable 35mm².

4. Water supply and drainage

 Installation service, please refer to the following guidelines:

A. In Hot area, do not supply directly with the high temperature water to
the flake ice machine, avoid from damaging the plastic parts. In cold
area, the water supply pipes need to be kept warm, or it will be crack
by freezing

B. If supply water pressure is more than the largest pressure range,

reduce the pressure

C. Pipes should be connected with seal belt in case of water

leakage,.and adjust the ball float valve appropriately.

 When installing the drain-pipe, please refer to the following guidelines:

A. Connected to the overflow, and be a fall distance of 2.5 CM;

B. Drain access to the floor drain with big enough capacity.

C. Gap for air going shoud be set for drain line

 Water supply and drainage pipe size and other parameters:

The ice machine unit inlet water temperature should ≤ 35℃,water

pressure should be within 0.1 MPa to 0.6 MPa;

V.Flake ice machine commission

1) The first time to run the ice machine follow these steps please:

◆ Before starting , please examine carefully whether all circuit connections

are correct, all valves of refrigeration system are open and running
environment is normal or not.

① Turn on the Air Switch of the power supply

② Open the water supply tap and make the salt water pipe supply liquid

③ Turn on the air switch and single stage switch in the controlling cabinet

⑤ Push the Turn on switch on the cabinet or touch the words on the

touch screen, run the ice machine

◆ Open the controlling cabinet, check the PLC, if it shows P04 fault alarm, it

means the sequence of the phase is error, please cut off the power
supply, Exchange the phase sequence, after it is normal, check the rotary
direction of the axle of the ice drum, if it is Clockwise, then you should
adjust the phase sequence of the speed reducer, till it goes anticlockwise

2) After the operation please debug the ice machine according to the
following examinations:

① Observe whether the water level in the water distribution pan of the ice

drum is proper, if not please adjust water supplying valve. Water level in
the pan stands10-15 mm higher than the pipes is the best state

② Watch the ice on the surface of the evaporator inner wall, after the

machine runs for 2-5 minutes, confirm whether there is abnormal sound
from the ice cutter, when it is ice cutting, whether 90% of ice on the wall
can be cut and drop, if the thickness of ice is 1.5 mm to 2.2 mm, that is
preferred;

③ Ten minutes later, observe the oil height of compressor which with the oil

sight glass .when there’s little foam can be found, the liquid surface height
shows as the (Figure 5)

④ When the machine runs about 20 minutes, check the ice machine by all

the parts whether there's any loose phenomenon;

⑤ Check the ice full sensor and water level sensor, make sure both can work

normally;

⑥ Add moderate amount of kitchen salt into the salt water barrel, the salt

water can reduce the flake ice temperature, make the ice more brittle and
drier, and save the power consumption. Usually we put 0.5kg salt into
30kg fresh water

3) Turn on flow chart and operation guide

◆ Push Button Running

a. Switch on the power supply,turn on the wire breaker,turn on the

single state switch on the left side of the PLC,make the PLC access to
the power

b. Turn on the button on the controlling cabinet,the pump and reducer

will run

c. 30 seconds later, 1# compressor starts, and then 5 seconds later 2#

compressor starts.

d. Flake ice machine is running normally

◆ Human-Machine Interaction Controlling Turn On

A. Access to power,HMI appear the picture bellow,touch the screen with

your finger,the screen will goes to Language Option

C. Go to the page as bellow, choose the flake ice machine

will normally run,touch ,go to PLC “Input Indicator”, you can

learn about the running situation of the flake ice machine.

D. If there’s fault and the machine alarms,you can touch ,and there
will be fault analysis as the picture bellow

E. If you touch you can go to operation guide,and learn the

operation guide and some matters need attention

4) Turn off flow chart and operation guide

Press the Stop button or touch the ,touch screen of the HMI,
Compressor shutdown, delay reducer pump shutdown after 3 minutes.

5) Control button and PLC

① "Start" button for turn on the ice machine, after the launch ,"Power"

and "Run" indicators it light.

② "Stop" button to stop the running of the machine, but “Power” indicator

lights at that time while the machine does not work

③ "Urgent Stop" button for emergency, when the ice machine working

abnormally, give an emergency stop to cut off the power supply

④ "Alarm" is a signal indicator while there’s something abnormal for the

machine

⑤ "Run" means the machine is normally working

⑥ "Power" shows the machine is access to the power

⑦ "Ammeter" shows the total current when the machine is working

⑧ "Voltmeter" shows the operation voltage of machine

★ Remarks:

1. The parameters above is based on the ambient temperature from 15℃

to 25℃, inlet water temperature is bellow 18℃. Due to technology

VII.Equipment Maintainance

★The ice machine should be powered off when cleaning and maintenance

1. Usually cleaning of water tanks, water distribution pan & inner wall of the
evaporator, the flake ice will be more clean and sanitary

2. Check the gearbox or the ice drum, whether the inside fixing bolts are
loose, the gear oil of the gearbox should be replaced once a year

3. Frequent cleaning of the impurities on the pump filter, remove the salt
water pump filter and clean it, to guaranty the smooth flow of water

4. Air condenser cooling fins cleaned once a month; water condenser,

cooling tower cleaning for every three months.

VIII.Transportation & Storage for the machine

During transportation, the equipment should be handled with care, Prevent
strong vibration, do not put the ice machine in the open air for long-term, it prefer
to be put in the noncorrosive gases warehouse, and placed on the plain ground.
If the machine has to been placed temporarily in the open air, the rain-proof
measure is needed.

For lifting the ice machine, the appropriate lifting equipment should be based on
the weight of the machine, use a correct method for preventing damages of the
copper pipe or other parts, just use the side holes of the base for lifting the flake
ice machine

X. After Sale Service

1. The machine with one year’s warranty time from the date of Bill of lading

2. The following conditions are not included in the warranty scope for the
machine:

• The daily cleaning and maintenance of the flake ice machine are excluded
in the service

• Damage caused by incorrect operation or improper management

• Unauthorized changes to the original structure of ice machine, all man-

made damage in the disassembly & mending without our company’s
professional maintenance worker

• Damage caused by inappropriate installation for the Water supply and

drainage system, etc.
