RATIONALE The Department of Education (DepEd) is bracing for
an extraordinary challenging school year due to the
outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID)
pandemic. As we face unpresented time DepEd still
firmed that Education must continue.
Due to COVID – 19 pandemic, this school year 2020
up to present will use a combination of methods, from
online clases and printed learning modules to use of TV
and radio. Teachers were already prepared for the
opening of the school year 2021 – 2022 under the “new
normal” set up as they were trained to handle different
modalities such as online distance learning.
In line with the pilot implementation of limited Face
– to – Face classes in select low – risk ares in the
country, the Department of Education (DepEd) and the
Department of Health (DOH) have identified
mechanisms to ensure safety of participating learners,
teachings and non – teaching staff, and their families.
“Our utmost priority is the health and safety of our
learners and teachers while ensuring that learning
happens and learning gaps are addressed. We have
been proactive in planning for safe return to schools.
The operational guideline for the pilot run of face – to –
face classes is a product of our collaboration with DOH
in consultation with various stakeholders, including
child health experts. This will only be applicable for the
school that passed the strict vetting process by DepEd
and DOH, and have support of their respective local
government units,”
The guidelines sets standards on the readiness of
the schools for re – opening.
OBJECTIVES At the end of the simulation activity the participants
will be able to:
1. Deliver quality basic education in a safe learning
environment to learners in low – to minimal – risk
areas;
2. Address the teaching and learning gaps
encountered in the distance learning modalities;
and
