Answer03

Part A
Four components provide the structure of a linear programming model and they are:
• Objective function: is a mathematical expression that can be used to determine the
total profit (depending on the objective)
• Decision variables: represent choices available to the decision maker in terms of
amounts either inputs or outputs.
• Constraints: It is the limitations that restrict the alternatives available to decision
makers.
• Parameters: They are fixed values; the model is solved given those values.

Part B
Decision variables:
X1= Number of bowl to produce
X2= Number of mug to produce

Objective function:
Maximize Z= 40X1+ 50X2

Constraints:
Labour:2x1+7x2<= 40hr
Clay:5x1+3x2<= 50hr
