RPunzalan : (After cue) Thank you Krisma and Emil, and to our dearest University President for
her uplifting message to our graduating class of 2022. Truly, (insert a line or two from the
President’s message).
Good afternoon to each and every one! We are coming to you live here at the entrance of the
sunken garden as your reporters in the live coverage of the MMSU 44th Commencement
Exercises, I am Ronan Punzalan from the College of Arts and Sciences together with Ms. Nina
Sumintac from the College of Teacher Education, giving you the latest updates for this
afternoon. Today is such a great day, right, Ms/Ma’am Nina? [simplify.]
NSumintac: Yes, it is. Just look at the weather we have, (if cloudy) the clouds enveloped the sky
as if protecting us from the harsh rays of the sun (insert ad lib)
(if sunny), this place is as vibrant as if the sun greeting us with a happy, warm smile (insert ad
lib)
(if rainy), it is raining, but we take it as a blessing from the heavens, this rain symbolizes the
outpouring of blessings for our graduating class of 2022 (insert ad lib)
This weather is a blessing for the face-to-face graduation we’ve all been praying for. Nothing
really beats the excitement of having it in this historic and iconic sunken garden. It feels great to
be here, witnessing these grand rites. Ronan, what’s your favorite scene so far?
RPunzalan: I am happy to see my ates and kuyas together with their proud parents celebrating
this huge milestone in their lives. I can only imagine what my family and I will be, next year,
when it’s my turn to step into the sunken garden.
NSumintac: I hope to see you next year in the sunken garden, Ronan. Hopefully I could also
finish my master’s to upgrade my academic regalia. The parade of different academic regalias is
always my favorite scene during every commencement exercise. You see different colors,
designs, from togas to sablays. What a scene, really.
RPunzalan: I also love how the aisle turns colorful during the grand processional which we will
witness later as we see the graduating students, administrators, faculty, non-teaching staff
parade with pride and glory. There is really no other place than here, a place where thousands
of MMSU students had walked and received their diplomas that made their future brighter, a
diploma that was a result of four to five long years of learning in this institution.Today, we will
witness two thousand more stallions that will soon gallop to greater heights.
NSumintac: Now, speaking of galloping to greater heights Sir Ronan, we have students who
were able to gallop to the greatest heights and will be awarded with Latin honors. To give us
further details and figures, we have the Chief of Institutional Student Programs and Services,
who is also the Chair of Academic Awards Evaluation Committee, Dr. Jahnese D. Asuncion.
Good afternoon, Ma’am Jahnese, Ma’am I’ve heard that this year’s batch is historic for they
were able to get the highest number of latin honorees, so far, in the whole history of MMSU.
Ma’am, can you please share the university’s data on honor graduates?
RPunzalan: Wow, those are amazing figures, Ma’am. Truly, historic. Ma’am, what do you think
are the reasons why we have such a big number of honor graduates this year?
NSumintac: Just like what Uncle Ben told the Spiderman, with great power comes great
responsibility, Ma’am Jahnese, what is your challenge to our honor graduates?
RPunzalan: And the graduates shall say, “Challenge accepted, Ma’am!”. Thank you very much
Ma’am Jahnese for providing us with the details and for being one of the hundreds of top calibre
MMSU professors who helped this batch achieve these figures. It’s a pleasure to have you with
us, Ma’am. Again, thank you so much.
Ms. Nina, it’s overwhelming to know that we have hundreds of latin honorees produced in this
batch.
NSumintac: Yes, let me just repeat, and emphasize that this batch produced a whooping
number of 505 latin honorees. What lies behind these numbers, are the hardships and
sacrifices that the students had to go through to achieve their dreams.
RPunzalan: That’s really amazing, Ms. Nina. Congratulations to each and every one! Alright, so
that’s it for now. We are now turning back the mic to Krisma and Emil.
