MANUFACTURING CHARACTERISTICS
DESCRIPTION AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The new HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER of the DPAK, DPAK-G is used to classify the sub
products in accordance with their particle size at every stage of milling and separate different flour
types per their qualities in the flour mills.
Every aspect of the project has been carefully considered in order to obtain high standard quality
machines.
The machine can be provided both in the galvanised and in the painted version.
A particular attention has been dedicated to safety measures, to the prevention of accidents and to the
environmental protection laws.
Each plansifter has an effective sifting feature, high efficiency, capacity and performance, durable and
long lasting structure provides a leakproof operation by means of special construction. Needs minimum
maintenance
DPAK, DPAK-G Both models consists of two main structures. These are:
-The sifting chambers, including sifting frames and sifting passages odalari
-Chassis and drive unit which creates the oscillation for sifting process.
DPAK and DPAK-G model plansifters are manufactured from special endured carbon steel material which
is appropriate for vibrative operations. The structure is welded by using special welding electrodes in milimetric
tolerances.
The boxes are constructed by minimizing corners thus micro bacterial growth is prevented.
The plansifter frames are manufactured from first class dried wooden material in micrometric tolerances.
Therefore, it provides durable, long lasting and leakproof structure at max. Standard.
The plansifter frames and insert frame are covered by double faced laminate material as Standard. In
case of requirement, it can be made of stainless steel too as optional.
The doors are made of bright and even surfaced fiberglas material. The doors are isolated to prevent
condensation. The strong door structure is manufactured by moulding method.
The thightening (compressing) process of the plansifter frames is made by two mechanizms. These
mechanizms implement tightenning process by applying force on four corners of plansifter. The plansifter
structure provides max. hygeinic condidtions, easy and quick maintenance.
The centrifugal force is generated by the adjustable weight system which consists of two parts and
provides a flexible usage advantage. Main shaft bearing system is bedded by a double rowed conic loose ball
bearing. It is possible to lubricate the system from outside and the structure allows to make easy maintenance.

Plan sifter is a swinging, oscilating machine. The weights in the center let machine swing. The machine
frame, the product, wooden sieves and frames, and mechanical parts amount a very heavy structure. Therefore,
machine requires a safe and sturdy chasis.
Based on the model and capacity, Plansifter is hung on the ceiling by the supports made by using Steel
H and U profiles.
There can be more than one Plansifters in milling plant. Therefore, the chasis selection should be made
by taking the number of machines into consideration.
Fig. 04
Four rodes are used at each hanging spot. The total number of rodes is 32
Hanging rode material is polyamide. The rodes ar flexible, strong and resistant. The length of the rodes
are between 3000-3500 mm.
The dowels are st42 quality steel. It is fixed on the ceiling, and connected to the rods and holding profile
by bolts and nuts.
Since the hanging rodes are carrying the entire weight, and absorbing the swinging power
effects. They may break by time. The broken rodes may cause risk. Safety rope does nor carry load during
operation. It is just a safety measure in case of fall down.
The diameter of each rode is 12 mm, the channel height in dowels is 11 mm. The dowel
surfaces should match after fixing the screws.

PRESSURE BOX
The diagram of The sifting line contains many sieve frames and boxes. A special fabric is used between
the frames to avoid dusting and leakage.
There is a pressure box and a mechanism on the top of the machine body for a proper pressing and for
a leakproof system. The machanism is connected by shaftas turning counter clockwise. By movements of the
shafts triggers dowels, and the movements of dowels are linear. The pins on dowels are embedded into the
inclined slots. The linear movemenr of dowels pushes and squeezes the frames, and move them vertically.
A user friendly servicability is an important future of Alapala designed Machine.
Fig. 09
SIEVES
The sieves are main functional parts of the sifting system. The dimensions of the pores, and the sections
are produced in several different structures. The frames are wooden and laminated. The sieces are either steel or
fibre, and leakage is prevented by the use of a sealing fabric.
The structure of sieve sections are designed according to the sifting process.

3.Verify if the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER is properly secured to the electric motor or to
the shaft and check the connections for the feeding and forthe unloading
Start the machine verifying the direction of the shaft and of the electric motor
Set the machine in function with no load for about two hours to allow the adjustement of the mechanical
parts in motion. In this stage it is necessaryto check the electrical imput that should have minimum values.
In case of particular noise or anomalous electrical imput it is necessary to verify these things:
After this period of adjustement and testing without load, start the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO
PLANSIFTER with the product, operating gradually and checking the electrical absorption. During this phase
verify if the unloading of the machine is regular. Increase the feeding of the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO
PLANSIFTER only after few hours off unctioning.
Once you have reached the 75% of the tonnage leave the machine in function for at least 50 hours
before the testing with full load.
During the stage of final testing, check the level of the casings (when possible through the inspection
holes in the machine) and verify if the unloading is regular.
• Identify the various components of each machine having the same serial number.
• The serial number ends with the letter K or F. Couple the three parts, aligning the sides of the various
parts identified by the same letter, using the M20x70 bolts. The connection bolts between the various parts must
be tightened using a torque wrench and applying the following torque:
Important: check the tightness of the bolts after 24 hours and again after 15 days of operation.

In order to function properly, the machine must be suspended from the supporting frame using the
fiberglass-reinforced plastic suspension rods provided.
Their length must be at least equivalent to the one indicated in the technical table and the supporting
frame to which the upper supporting elements are attached must be suitable for carrying the static and dynamic
loads specified in the attached table.
• if possible, place the assembled machine on stands that can be adjusted in height to facilitate the
leveling of the machine, an important aspect on which the proper operation and long-term reliability of the
machine largely depends;
• attach the fiberglass-reinforced plastic suspension rods to the upper supporting elements, previously
positioned according to the assembly plan and perfectly plumb with the side cross-member supporting elements;
• remove the stands and check to make sure that the machine is perfectly level. The bolts (27) for fixing
the suspension rod clamps (29) to the supporting elements (25) must be tightened using a torque wrench and
applying a torque of 5.5-6 kgm;
• connect the inlet and outlet spouts to the top and bottom boards using the sleeves provided, which
must not be taut because they must allow for the free movement of the plansifter;
Important: after 24 hours of operation, check the tightness of the bolts and the attachment of the
suspension rod clamps to the supporting elements. Repeat this check again after two weeks. If this is
not done, the manufacturer can accept no liability for any personal injury or damage to property that may
result.

- Make sure that there are no objects on top of, or up against the machine;
- Make sure that the nests of frames are firmly fixed in place;
- Make sure that the door-locking bolts have been suitably tightened;
- Make sure that the inlet and outlet sleeves are not pulled taut;
Place a pencil in for brackets provided for positioning in the top and bottom parts of the central body
Fig. 37
- Make sure that the turning speed is right, preferably using a digital rev counter; the machine must turn
at 245 RPM;
- Make sure that the trace left by the pencils is circular in shape or slightly elliptical, with a diameter of 64
mm.
In the event of the above requirement not being met, it becomes necessary to take action on the
position of the counterweights (2) that generate the rocking of the machine, as explained below:
a) if the diameter of the rocking action is smaller than 64 mm, extend the gap between the
counterweights slightly by means of the screw 24;
b) if the diameter of the rocking action is greater than 64 mm, reduce the gap between the
counterweights by means of the screw 24;
c) in the event of differences in the amplitude of the movement between the top and bottom parts of the
machine, it becomes necessary to move the counterweights upwards or downwards, by loosening the locking
screws (22) and taking action on the screw (23). This operation must be undertaken gradually, shifting the
counterweights by no more than 5-6 mm at a time. After each adjustment, check the effects. Generally speaking,
a more ample movement on the bottom part of the machine means that you need to shift the counterweights
downwards - and vice versa in the opposite situation.
Fig. 38
-In case of installation of the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER inside a building or in a gallery,
before every intervention, ventilate the place with the letting inof forced air and verify if there are toxic gas
-Locate the problem that has stopped the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER (generally caused
by occlusions in the outlet circuits or by the presence of foreignbodies in the machine)
-Start again the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER and leave it in function until the complete
unloading.
-Leave the machine in function without load for few minutes controlling the electrical absorption to the
restoration of the regular tonnage.
During the operations above mentioned we recommend the respect of the safety rules described on in
the present Manual.
Avoid the stagnation of the product inside the machine for long periods, especially if the product is
perishable.
We suggest to set the electrical plant so as to ensure the complete unloading of the HIGH CAPACITY
QUADRO PLANSIFTER before its stop.
The stagnation of moist cereals inside the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER or in its
proximity causes in many cases the fermentation and the exit of toxic gas.
In these cases before every intervention, ventilate the place and make sure if there is carbon dioxide
with the proper instruments.
MAINTENANCE
The ordinary maintenance of the machine includes the following examinations to be done monthly:
Please check out the bags after installation to make sure they are tightly fixed
Pleasixed properlye check out the body covers to make sure they are,
Please make sure there is no leakage in the sifter boxes,
The ordinary maintenance of the machine includes finally the following examinations to be done
annually:
- Please check out the housing lubrication
- Hanging rodes and dowels (STRESS)
- Please check the alignment of the machine
- wear conditions of the superficial treatment (weld or paint) with eventual repairs.

The use of eventual non original spare parts may compromise the correct functioning of the HIGH
CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER and in all the cases cancel every responsibility of the constructor in what is
specified in the Machines Directive 94/9 and the following revisions.
All the interventions of maintenance have to be made in the respect of the safety rules and what is
specified in the Data sheet “General Rules” in the present Manual.
-Entrust any intervention of dismantling of the machine to skilled staff, provided with proper instruments.
-Before every intervention on the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER, verify if the electrical
connections have been removed. This operation must be doneby skilled staff.
-Delimitate the place of intervention using proper warning notices and specify the type of intervention
-Clean the machine carefully inside and outside, verify the wear conditions of the various elements that,
during the dismantlingmay bring particular risks.
-DPAK, DPAK-G assemble the various elements of the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER doing
what is described in the chapter 5 of the present manual in the oppositeorder.
-It is forbidden to cut parts of the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTER using disk grinding wheels
or similar tools, especially with banked HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTERs
-It is forbidden to use the disk grinding wheel to remove rusty bolts
-Before the dismantling of parts or elements verify if these are subject to tension and if their removal
damages machines orstructures connected to them.
-Before every intervention of dismantling or removal verify if the part is sustained by stands or by slings.
-For the HIGH CAPACITY QUADRO PLANSIFTERs installed on a gallery or inside a building, before
every intervention it is necessary to aerate and to clean theplace to avoid the risk of explosion, the
dangers caused by the presence of toxic gas and/or possible infections.
Explosion risks: two important news for the safety inside working places
All the employers are obliged by the directive 99/92/CE (introduced in Turkey 26 th of December
2003, with the application of the new title 25328), to evaluate explosion risks, on which their own
employees are submitted.
The directive 1999/92/CE fixes the minimum standards for the improvement of the safety and
the health of the workers, whom could be ex-posed to the risk of explosive atmospheres.
The risk of explosions could verify in each ambient where inflammable substances are
handled. These substances are many differentmaterials, intermediate products, finished products and
waste substances produced by the process of daily work, as shown in: figure 41.
It is possible to have an explosion when fuel is mixed with air (which means with a sufficient
quantity of oxygen) between the ignition limits and in presence of an ignition source (figure 42).
It has to be mentioned, that the special definition of "explosions" contained in the directive, is
also applied to an ignition in which the combustionis reproduced to all the unburnt mix.
In case of an explosion, the employees are in danger for the uncontrollable effects of the flames
and the pressure, under the form of heat irradiation, flames, pressure waves and flying fragments, as
for the harmful reaction products and for the oxygen of the surrounding air burning, that is needed for
worker's respiration. The obligations scheduled by the Title VIII-bis could be reassumed in two
phases:
- PHASE 1: Classification of the zones with explosion risk present at working places, or the
zones in which a dangerous concentrationof gas, fumes and inflammable dusts can be present.
The classification of dangerous zones has preferably to be made according to the norms as follow:
An area (or zone) under risk of explosion, is an area in which a dangerous explosive
atmosphere could be created in such a quantity, that it isnecessary to have norms for the protection of
the workers concerning the risks of explosion. A similar quantity is declared explosive dangerous
atmosphere. As basics for the valuation of the types of measures for the protection, the areas with
explosion risks must be divided in zones, concerning the possibilities to create dangerous explosive
atmospheres.
Zone 0: Area in which an explosive atmosphere is present all the time, for long periods
or often. An explosive atmosphere is amixture of air and of inflammable
substances in form of gasses, vapours or mists.
Example: Normally the conditions of zone 0 are present only inside of vessels or
equipments (evaporators, vessels for reactions, etc.), butcould also be verified
close to ventilations and other openings.
• places with an immediate closeness to stuffing nuts not well tightened, for
example on pumps and valves with stuffingn
Zone 20: Area in which an explosive atmosphere is present all the time, for long
periods, or often in form of clouds of dustin the air.
Example: Those conditions are present, generally just inside of vessels, tubes,
instruments, etc. Normally it belongs only to the inside of the plants (mills,
dryers, mixers, wires for the transport, silos, etc.), in the cases explosive
mixtures of dust in a menacing quantity could be formed permanent, for long
periods or often.
Zone 21: Area in which during a normal operation, the formation of an explosive
atmosphere in form of clouds of dust in theair, is possible just occasionally.
Zone 22: Area in which during a normal operation, the formation of an explosive
atmosphere in form of clouds of dustin the air, is not likely to occur and if it
happens, it takes place just for a short period.
• those areas, in which the dust inside the plants is able to go out from
openings and so forms dust deposits in a dangerousquantity.
The employer has to create and to keep updated a "document for the protection against
explosions", in which is indicated:
- to have indivituated the dangerous zones present at working places (zone 0,1,2 for gas and
inflammable liquids; zone 20,21,22 for in- flammable dust);
- to use CE marked equipment as for the directive ATEX IEC 60079-10-2:2009, of the
group and category suitable to the classificated zones;
- to have valuated all the possible ignitions, also coming from working activities as welding,
sanding, etc.;
- to have managed the coordination between different builders to reach the safety for
explosive risks;
- to have declared the electrical installations located in the zones 0,1,20,21 to the authorities
and to have made, each two years, the perio- dical verification by the authorities, or by
institutions in possession of a special qualification from the Minister for productive activities.
Figure 43: example for a sign, which has to be used to mark the beginning of a
dangerous zone
- Instruments;
- protection systems;
- components
As instruments are intended the machines, the material, fixed or moveable devices, the
control systems, the instrumentation and the systemsfor bearing and prevention, which
themselves or combined, are destined to the production, to the transport, to the deposit, to the
measurement, tothe regulation and conversion of energy, to the transformation of materials,
and that, due to their own potential sources of ignition make therisk to cause an ignition.
Since 2009, only instruments, machines and protection systems CE marked and
corresponding to the ATEX norm (falls into the rangeof applications to the directive), can be
introduced into the market and be installed; the producer (or his mandatory) has to effect the
CE mark in orderto write the following information:
-2nd row: supplementary mark foreseen the technical norms of construction (EN50014
for eletrical instruments and EN13463-1 for non-electrical instruments)
-identification number of the notified organism, if present in the process for the
valuation of the conformity;
-the group (the products for mines or the products for the surface industry;
-the category (1,2,3) and the nature of danger G = gas, D = dust, G/D = gas and dust
-the class of temperature or the maximum surface temperature reached (T1,T2, T3, T4,
T5, T6).
Figure 44: association for dangerous zones - Atex category for instruments of Group II
For the electrical instuments in dangerous zones derived from gas, the norm EN50014 fixes
the modalities, how the protection method or the used protection methods have to be inserted.
The protection methods foreseen by the EN50014 for the electrical instruments in relation to
the type of dangerous zones for the presence of GAS, are indicated.
In the case in which the electrical instruments are destined to dangerous zones for the presence
of dusts, the norms of the series EN50281have to be followed.
On the contrary, the protection methods foreseen by the EN13463-1 for NON-ELECTRICAL
instruments in relation to the typeof dangerous zones due to the presence of GAS and DUSTS, are
indicated.
