Title:
Plan and Prepare Unit Assembly

Performance Objectives: Given the following tools, equipment, and


materials, you must be able to plan and prepare all the necessary tools
and equipment prior to assembling a unit according to system
requirements following safety within 2 hours.
Tools: Screwdriver, anti-static wrist strap, safety gloves, crimper,
peripherals, Personal Protective equipment (PPE), and CBLM
Equipment: Desktop Computer, Table, Chairs
Steps/Procedure:
1. Prepare the workplace for unit assembly
2. Use proper Personal Protective Equipment for safety
3. Conduct inventory on the different components and peripherals for
unit assembly.
4. Follow Occupational Health and Safety during the performance of
each task
5. Disassemble/assemble computer hardware on a desktop unit
6. Implement 5’s and 3’rs and computer ergonomics during the activity.
7. Identify faults during unit assembly and disassembly
8. Submit output to trainer for evaluation

Title:
Observe OH&S Policies and Procedures

Performance Objectives:
Given the OH&S policies and procedures in assembling computer
hardware, you should be able to demonstrate the safe way to lift
equipment according to body movement requirements following safety
within 2 hours.
Tools: Personal Safety Equipment, CBLM
Equipment: Desktop computer, Table, Chairs
Steps/Procedure:
1. Take your time think about the situation, plan, and follow the safety
tips when lifting.
2. Get a firm balanced footing. Keep your feet apart for a stable base
and point your toes out.
3. Bend your knees. Do not bend at the waist.
4. Tighten stomach muscles. Abdominal muscles support your spine
when you lift, offsetting the force of the load.
5. Lift with your legs, not your back.
6. Keep the load close. The closer it is to your spine, the less force it
exerts on your back.
7. Keep your back upright, whether lifting or setting down the load. Do
not add the weight of your body to the load. Avoid twisting your
body and back.
8. Follow the same techniques in reverse to set the load down.

Identify Tools, Equipment and Testing Devices in Assembling and
Disassembling Computers

Performance Objectives:
Given the Tools, Equipment and Testing Devices, you should be able to
identify the basic tools, equipment and perform testing device needed to
carry out the installation according to OH & S Policies & Procedures to
protect both yourself, the equipment, and the environment within 2 hours.
Tools: Personal Protective equipment (PPE), digital multimeter, pliers,
screwdrivers, soldering iron, flashlight, LAN tester, crimping tools and
CBLM
Equipment: Desktop computer, Tables, and chairs
1. Wear proper PPE
2. Determine the necessary tools, equipment and testing devices
3. Prepare the testing devices needed to carry out the installation work.
4. Check for correct operation and safety.

Tools: Motherboard, Hard disk, video card, sound card, optical disc drives,
memory modules, Power supply, Cable and Cords, Personal Protective

Steps/Procedure:
1. Gather all materials to be use in assembling the hardware
2. Open the case cover of the PC
3. Ground yourself using anti-static wrist strap
4. Install motherboard
5. Install hard drive
6. Install the CPU
7. Install RAM
8. Install Power Supply
9. Connect cables on their specific place inside motherboard
10. Wrap-Up / Cover the case

Configure BIOS

Performance Objectives:
Given the procedures in Configuring BIOS setting, you should be able to
change the settings of the BIOS in accordance with the setup utility stored
in the BIOS flash memory within 2 hours.
Tools: Manufacturer’s manual, CBLM
Equipment: Desktop computer, Table, Chairs
Steps/Procedure:
1. Refer to the manufacturer’s manual on BIOS configuration.
2. Open your computer system.
3. Open the BIOS.
4. Set the correct date and time.
5. Make sure that there is bootable device.
6. On the boot settings make the USB drive as priority, followed by the
optical disc drive, then the hard disk.
7. Save the configuration.
8. Exit the BIOS.
