DMME, Introduction To Engineering Drawing 115 - IED511S, Semester 1, 2022, NA

This document provides instructions for two tutorial exercises on first and third angle projections of 3D models. Students are asked to extract orthographic views, sectional views, and isometric views of two objects using both first and third angle projections. They are also asked to assemble parts provided into three assemblies, and create orthographic views, sectional views, and an isometric view of each assembly. Guidelines are provided for scales of the views and indicating dimensions. Sample component views and assembly diagrams are included.

 First and third angle projections from 3D models

Download the file with a name “EXERCISE T11.1_FILE” from MS Teams/eLearning.

Object 1 Object 2

Question 1
a) Using first angle projection, extract the front, top and left side views of Object 1. Draw the center lines and
fully dimension the views.
b) Extract the full sectional front view. Do not dimension.
c) Extract the 3D/Isometric view. Do not dimension
d) The scale of 3D/Isometric view should be twice the scale of orthographic views.

Question 2
a) Using third angle projection, extract the front, top and left side views of Object 2. Draw the center lines and
fully dimension the views.
b) Extract the full sectional front view. Do not dimension.
c) Extract the 3D/Isometric view. Do not dimension
d) The scale of 3D/Isometric view should be twice the scale of orthographic views.

Questions

a) Using the given parts, assemble them to obtain the assemblies.

b) Using third angle projection, extract the front, top and left side views of your assembly. Indicate the major
dimensions only.
c) Extract full sectional views to show the common hidden features of your assembly and use the balloons to
indicate the parts (do not dimension).
d) Extract the 3D/Isometric drawing of your assembly (do not dimension).
