I started preparing in March 2021. I focused mainly on giving mock

I started my preparations in April 2021. My strategy mostly

involved solving the previous years' mock papers from different

focused on improving them.

I started preparing around the end of June this year and went into

Being from a mathematics background, I had a hold over the

Along with the CAT preparation, I have limited time on weekdays. I

How is CAT Percent ile Calculat ed?

In CAT , three marks are awarded for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. No marks is deducted for wrong
answers in non-MCQ type questions. Calculation of CAT percentile includes three steps. Check below:
1. Each candidate is first given marks in each section as per number of correct and incorrect attempts, then the overall score is arrived at by totaling the
section-wise scores.
2. T hereafter, these section-wise and overall scores (raw scores) are normalised to arrive at scaled CAT score.
3. T he normalised scores are converted into percentiles which is reported on the CAT scorecard.

What is CAT Normalisation Process?

T he CAT exam is conducted in three slots and the difficulty level of the exam of every session varies from each other. T o ensure equity in the marking
process, CAT authorities follow a normalisation process where the marks of every candidate are scaled. Parameters taken into consideration during
CAT normalisation process:
Highest score
Lowest score
Mean score
Median score
T op 10 percentiles
Lowest 10 percentiles
T he CAT normalisation process is based on GAT E scoring process and the calculations are based on statistic equations.
