    Activity Design on Teenage Pregnancy Awareness at San Vicente National High


    School on January 24, 2020

    I. Rationale
    Adolescent plays a pivotal role in the society. According to World Health
    Organization (2016) about 16 million girls aging between 15 and 19 years and
    about 1 million girls younger than 15 years give birth every year. Additionally,
    it is estimated that some three million teenage girls undergo unsafe abortions,
    which may result in consecutive reproduction problems or even death.
    According to the Population Commission (PopCom) in the Philippines,
    teenage pregnancy has one of the highest rates throughout Southeast Asia.
    Furthermore, Philippines need to fully implement a reproductive health
    law, as well as invest in quality education and other health services for
    younger children, including teenage girls.
    In locality, Bislig City’s Women Health Teams regularly conduct pregnancy
    tracking and monitoring to suppress the so called teenage pregnancy.
    Moreover, the issue of teenage pregnancy in Barangay San Vicente had
    increased for it went to 8 persons on the year of 2018-2019 than the other
    year 2016-2017 that is 5 persons as per monitored by Barangay San Vicente
    Health Center.
    Due to this, the student of Bislig City National High School initiate to give
    accessible information and awareness to the youth of Barangay San Vicente,
    Bislig City.

    II. Objectives
    This symposium aims the following:
    1. To provide accessible information about the possible outcomes of early
    pregnancy.
    2. To broadcast awareness to the youth to certain causes if they are not
    careful of their actions.
