ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I humbly express my gratitude and appreciation to those who, to the best of their abilities,
assisted me in completing my On-the-Job Training. To my parents, Roderick S. Mata and
Emma C. Mata, for their unwavering love and support, for meeting all of my financial and
moral needs, for their patience and understanding when I'm too tired to help them with chores,
for their never-failing advice, and for always being there for me. To my siblings: Wencell and
Ramses, who are an inspiration to me, who constantly encourage me to make the best of every
situation, and who are proud and always supportive. To my son, Ethan. You've made me
stronger, better, and more fulfilled than I ever imagined possible. This is all for you.

To Isabela State University - Cauayan Campus, where I am a Bachelor of Science in Business

Administration Major in Financial Management student, where I am constantly growing. To all
of my professors— Sir Sherwin Natividad and Sir John Vincent Jagolino who have shared
and continue to share their knowledge with me and continue to mold me into a better person.

To the employees of Infinity Ace Summit Life Insurance Agency most importantly, my mentor,
Sir Alvin Leaban Bonifacio, whom I admired for his drive and who generously shared his
knowledge and expertise with me in order to complete all of the necessary tasks during this on-
the-job training. And for always encouraging me to keep moving forward and focusing on the
end goal. Thank you so much.

Last but not the least, we give thanks to our Almighty God for His unfailing love and all of His
blessings. Every day of my life, He showers blessings upon me. I thank Him with love and
gratitude for guiding me throughout my training and for making this On-the-Job Training
possible. For His provision and wisdom, for always keeping me and my loved ones safe, for
providing me with enough knowledge and ability to complete each task that was assigned to me,
and for the challenges He has presented to me that have made me stronger than ever. I thank Him
for His comfort when I'm on the verge of giving up. I was able to complete this training without
mishap thanks to His grace.

Chapter 1

The On-The-Job Training Program

On-the-job training (OJT) is a method of learning new skills and competencies for a job in a real,
or nearly real, working environment. It's frequently used in a live-work practice, simulated, or
training environment to learn how to use specific tools or equipment. Students learn about the
job by doing it, rather than by watching presentations or receiving worksheets. This training
takes place at work, under the supervision of a supervisor, manager, or other knowledgeable
employee.

On-the-job training allows new students to get a firsthand look at all of the work procedures they
will encounter. They learn about workplace expectations, how to operate equipment, and any
other skills they'll need to do their job well.

Under the direction of a manager, coach, or mentor, the employee typically completes duties that
are crucial to the performance of their job. Typically, this kind of training is used to broaden a
student’s skill set and boost productivity. Students learn about their jobs by doing them, as
opposed to being shown presentations or being given worksheets. With the assistance of a
manager, supervisor, or other knowledgeable employee, this training is conducted on the job.

During their on-the-job training, students observe all the working practices they will come
across. They gain knowledge of the standards at work, how to use the equipment, and any other
necessary skills.

Depending on the tasks needed for the job, on-the-job training could last days, weeks, or even
longer. Students frequently begin by observing other workers before moving on to carrying out
these tasks under supervision.

***

The On-the-Job Training was conducted from March 28, 2022 to May 31, 2022 for a total of 200
hours at INFINITY ACE SUMMIT LIFE INSURANCE AGENCY.

CHAPTER II

BRIEF HISTORY/BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY

A. Historical Background

Brief History of the Infinity Ace Summit Life Insurance Agency

Prudence, one of the four cardinal virtues, is an enduring symbol of Prudential since 1848,
when a painting of Prudence by Sir Joshua Reynolds was used as the company seal. The face of
Prudence is a longstanding symbol of integrity and security for Prudential plc and its
subsidiaries, and a representation of the virtue of wise conduct that the Company aims to instill
among its customers and the public. Rendered by Wolff Olins as a current corporate mark to suit
modern sensibilities, the stylized Prudence still bears the icons of the timeless virtue – combining
knowledge of the past, present and future to act with the authority merited by memory,
intelligence and foresight.

Background of the Company

Established in 1996, Pru Life UK is the pioneer of insuravest, or investment-linked life

insurance products, in the Philippines and is one of the first life insurance companies approved to
distribute US dollar-denominated investment-linked life insurance policies in the country. Since
its establishment, Pru Life UK has expanded its reach to over 190 branches in the Philippines,
with the biggest life agency force of more than 35,000 licensed agents.

The company ranked first (1st) among the country’s life insurers based on the Insurance
Commission’s Full Year 2021 rankings in terms of new business annual premium equivalent. Pru
Life UK is headquartered in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Pru Life UK and Prudential plc are not affiliated with Prudential Financial, Inc., (a company
whose principal place of business is in the United States of America), Prudential Assurance
Company Limited (a subsidiary of M&G plc, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom),
Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company, Prudentialife Plans, Inc. or Prudential Guarantee
and Assurance, Inc. (all Philippine-registered companies). Pru Life UK is a life insurance
company and is not engaged in the business of selling pre-need plans.

Infinity Ace Summit Life Insurance Agency

Our daily tasks were managed by my coordinator, who also happens to hold a very
distinctive position in the company. He meets with us twice a week to provide us with
instructions and advice on how to effectively execute our strategies. We need to contact and
invite people who we think are qualified to work as financial advisors, and people who can
gain from life insurance.

Depending on the audience we were trying to reach, we were given materials like posters,
banners, sheets, and various spiels. These posters feature the webinar's special guest speaker
as well as the campaign we are promoting. The purpose of the spiels was to provide a
preview of what would be covered in the webinar.

On some days, we must stay for a 2-hour webinar that takes place between 7:00 to 9:00
pm. The webinar includes discussions of benefits and commissions when they successfully
close the deal with the prospect clients in addition to the hiring process, qualifications, and
requirements for the people we invited to participate.
After gathering people who agreed to attend the webinar, we need to facilitate them to
answer the sheets that we provided to gain points for the time that we spent during the
invitation. Here comes the 20-point system in which we are required to approach at least 20
people every day in exchange for the 8 hours of work. But the 20-point system only works
starting at 9:00 am and will not exceed 5:00 pm.
After approaching or inviting several people, we must gather all the screenshots into one
file and show our coordinator proof of invites.
This is the pattern of our online job training.

2. Standard Operating Procedure

Insurance is a process of financial intermediation because the production cycle is

Reversed. Before a service is rendered, payment is made. Commissions and overhead costs
are paid from gross written premiums. In the event of a loss, the ultimate service is
decided. The settlement of claims is occasionally viewed as a gauge of the quality of an
insurance company's service or output. The technical reserves (R) represent the insurance
company's commitments to the insured parties because payments for claims are not always
made in the same year that premium payments are made.

Two main strategies are used by insurance companies: (1) capitalization strategy and (2)
compensation strategy. (1) The capitalization strategy entails holding back a portion of
premiums in order to be able to fulfill future obligations, as in the case of life insurance and
============================================================================================
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Major in Financial Management 13
Republic of the Philippines
Isabela State University
Cauayan City, Isabela

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT

============================================================================================
annuities. Although saving (at least in the sense of the transfer of purchasing power from one
period to another) is not the goal of insurance, it is evident that contracts for insurance based
on the capitalization technique generate medium- or long-term reserves that could be invested
in high-yield instruments with maturities comparable to those of insurance contract.

(2) Using the premiums collected is the method of compensation. In a streamlined

manner, claims that are (or will be) due during a budgetary year to immediately cover the
claims incurred within that Reserves but are not compensated during the fiscal year. In this
scenario, short-term reserves may make up the majority of insurance operations.

C. Problems Encountered

I ran into a fair amount of issues during this virtual training, as opposed to the typical
issues that arise during the actual, on-the-job training. And these are the following:
1. The internet connection was the first and most frequent issue I encountered. We are not
peculiar to this type of issue because, as we all know, internet service providers in the
Philippines charge exorbitant rates despite the slow and sporadic nature of our connection.
This is very hard during webinars and meetings with our coordinator, although it's
understandable that this kind of problem is inevitable, it is really a shame on my part
because it happens a lot.

2. The invitations are greatly reduced by the lack of energy access, primarily because it occurs
between 9 am and 5 pm. Without electricity, it is impossible for me to connect and
communicate with my coordinator, potential clients, and my co-trainee.

3. The first and second issues are related to my location, which explains why I encounter them
frequently. The main office is in Manila, where they have a better internet connection than
we do here and there will never be a sudden power outage unless there is a typhoon or you
have not paid the bill.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

============================================================================================

A. Summary

In this digital age, the efficacy of online job training has only become increasingly
prevalent. Nothing is significantly simpler unless you are familiar with it, as I can attest. I
guess I am really lucky to have access both actual and virtual training but I choose the latter
because of the convenience which I needed to because I am also working.

I was overwhelmed by the workload and responsibilities during my first week of work,
but with the assistance of my coordinator, who has years of experience in the field, I felt
more confident and I felt encouraged knowing that my work would be verified and that any
ambiguities would be clarified. I was able to pick up advice and learn various types of skills
by watching and listening to him and the guest speakers. These skills ranged from learning
how to interact and communicate with others to reading and understanding a variety of plans
for approaching clients.

Selling these kinds of services is not an easy job; My training experience broadened my
perspective and made me very appreciative of those who do it. Not every invitation and
zoom meeting can ensure that it's a sale because there are many people who don't give a
damn about what you communicate.

The opportunity to experience and learn about many different aspects of what goes into
a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed, and
completed, as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage, came to me during
my work experience at Infinity Ace Summit Life Insurance Agency. The variety of tasks
that Financial Advisors and Financial Consultants must carry out was another important
lesson I picked up during these nine weeks. This knowledge has helped me better understand
the range of potential roles and responsibilities for me as a trainee.

Overall, I had a good working experience at an insurance company. I was pleased with
the breadth of knowledge and experiences I gained during my eight-week training period
with the business. I think that this aspect of taking an online course should remain, as it does
give students the experience they need to later find employment (even if the experience is
over a short amount of time). Additionally, it can be very helpful because it might result in a
more permanent position, which is what I was being offered. My hard work paid off because
they offered me a job at the end, and I learned a lot more than I anticipated I would be able
to in the allotted time. I'm overjoyed and immensely proud to have finished my training.

B. Conclusion

============================================================================================

============================================================================================
Therefore, it is possible to draw the conclusion that online training has both positive and
negative aspects. The ability to utilize the benefits of online training while avoiding its
drawbacks will aid the business in completing the highest level of human resource
development. All of the benefits of online learning are geared toward the times we live in
now, where people don't have a lot of free time, have to adapt to their environment, and
need to make the most of their extra time.

Although many academics emphasize the lack of interpersonal interaction during online
learning, class schedules, the use of speakers, and web cameras may minimize this issue.
All the necessary elements for the successful implementation of the Internet are created by
innovative technologies and human desire to incorporate them into business and daily life
as much as possible. It is impossible to imagine even traditional group training without
media or other cutting-edge technologies, despite some specific challenges. As a result, the
majority of employers are interested in online training; however, due to a lack of
technological support and sufficient knowledge, not all businesses are ready to
immediately begin offering online training programs.ng its drawbacks will aid the business
in completing the highest level of human resource development. All of the benefits of
online learning are geared toward the times we live in now, where people don't have a lot
of free time, have to adapt to their environment, and need to make the most of their extra
time.

C. Recommendations

Based On-the-Job Training that I underwent, I recommend the following:

1. SHIFT THE EMPHASIS TO BLENDED AND ONLINE TRAINING.

 This is absolutely necessary to lessen the difficulties of being regulated and having a
geographically dispersed workforce. Additionally, it is the only way to guarantee that the
update occurs quickly and reaches the clients on time. Offering virtual job training in
particular enables students to adjust in the comfort of their own homes, improving
completion rates and retention.

2. ONLINE JOB TRAINING SHOULD BE AN OPTION FOR EVERYONE.

 One benefit of working from home is this. You can save money by not having to
commute or pay for breakfast or lunch. Additionally, your wardrobe won't typically be as
important as when you need to be in the office, saving you money there as well. Being
able to work from home will help me save money and strengthen my relationship with
my son as a mother.
