Course Topics See the course website for a full list of topics and web tools covered
in this course. This course is guided by the International Society of Technology in
Education (ISTE) 2016 Standards for Students. The standards are not about
tools or technologies rather it is about using these to facilitate learning.
Grading Policy This class will be graded on a point basis. Each assignment will be
weighted according to its importance and the amount of time expected for
completion. For example, a simple homework will be worth 100 points, weighted
once. A larger project may be graded on the familiar 100 point scale, but weighted
two times in the final grade calculation. Pay attention to rubrics. They explain in
detail the nature and quality of work we are looking for on each assignment.
Outcomes on rubrics are measured by competence of use and most importantly the
quality of the process or product.
Student Conduct and Expectations A climate of cooperation should permeate
this course. However, for cooperation to be effective there has to be an
atmosphere of mutual respect. Individual success in this course is reflected in
appropriate class behaviors, work ethics, and adequate completion of the course
assignments. Appropriate student conduct will go a long way in establishing
respect, from fellow students and the instructor. Due to the interactive nature of
this class, attendance is crucial to success. Material missed due to class absence is
your responsibility. Assignment due dates are on the Blackboard class calendar
updated on a weekly basis to reflect accuracy.
Academic Integrity It is expected that all students will do their own work.
Cheating or plagiarism will result in a zero on an assignment and referral to the
Academic Dean and the Honor Council.
