Make-Believe Middle School

4 July 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Britni Hill, and I am so happy to welcome you and your child to my
6th grade Social Studies classroom this year! I look forward to getting to know
you and your child better. Together, we’ll form a productive partnership to
ensure your child achieves his or her highest potential and all of his or her
learning goals.

In order to support your child’s learning, I ask that you ensure he or she:

● Arrives at school each day on time and ready to learn.

● Completes & turns in all homework assignments on time.
● Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of and involved
in the learning process.
● Informs you (or myself) if additional support is needed in any subject area.

A little bit about me: This is my first-year teaching. I graduated from Olive
Branch High School in Olive Branch, Mississippi and three weeks afterwards, I
left home for the United States Air Force where I served for fourteen years. I’ve
known since my own middle school days that I wanted to one day become a
teacher so while serving I also pursued my education. I earned two Associate
degrees through the Community College of the Air Force: one in Criminal Justice
and the other in Education and Training Management. I also have my Bachelor of
Arts in History from Columbia College and am currently one course away from
wrapping up my Master of Arts in Teaching with Columbia College. I’ve been
married to my sweetheart for almost ten years now and am Mom to my three
amazing children. I fell in love with reading as a kid thanks to R.L. Stein’s The
Goosebumps and have been an avid reader ever since…though now I mostly read
romance, memoirs, poetry and comics. I could eat pasta every day and green is
my favorite color.

I would like to share three of our classroom procedures with you so you have an
idea of what will be expected of your child in the classroom.
1. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. The safety of each student is
vitally important to me.
2. Arrive to our classroom on time and prepared. Every student that enters
my classroom has the right to a good education. I intend to make very
moment I have with your child count. Arriving on time with all materials
and ready to go will ensure we take full advantage of the time allotted.
3. No talking when either I or another student is talking. I am so excited to
teach your student, learn from them and have some really fun discussions
but one thing I really want to teach is respecting one another. One way we
can show one another respect is by allowing the current speaker to say
what they need to say without interruptions.

I will grade student assignments using Traditional grading and the expectation is
that homework assignments, unless otherwise stated, are turned in the following
school day. I will allow assessment retakes if requested by the student, however a
form will be sent home for parent/guardian signature along with the signature of
the student and while the same content will be assessed, the student will be given
a different test.

I look forward teaming up with you this year for the success of your student!

more can be found, along with a Contact box if you’d like to reach me there.

Britni De. Hill
