Computer Networking

A computer network connects two or more computers allowing them to share data and resources. It can include different types of devices like servers, desktops, laptops, and phones. Networks can be connected via wired or wireless media and allow devices to send and receive data through different network nodes like routers. Computer networks are broadly classified into personal area networks (PANs), local area networks (LANs), metropolitan area networks (MANs), and wide area networks (WANs) based on the geographical area they cover.

Computer networking

A group of two or more similar things or pupil interconnected with each other is called
network. Some of the examples of network in our daily life includes

1. Social

2. Mobile

3. Network of computers

4. Airlines, railways, bank hospital networks

A computer network is a interconnection of two or more computers or computing devices,

such connection allows computer to share data and resources among each other.

The network size may vary from small to large depending on the number of computer
connected

A computer network can include different types of host also called nodes, like server,
desktop, laptop and cellular phone. Apart from computers networks includes networking like
switch, router modem

Networking: in networking, devices are used to connect multiple computers in different

settings. For communication network, data is divided into smaller chunks called packet.
These networks can be connected via wired media liek cables/ wireless media like air. In
communication network, each devices that is a part of the network and can receive, create
store and send data to different network routes is called nodes. For ex; modem,
hub,bridge,switch, router
Types of networks:
There are various types of computer networks ranging from network of handheld devices
like mobile phones and tablets connected through wifi or Bluetooth within a single room to
millions of computers straight across the globe.

Computer networks are broadly classified as:

1. PAN(PERSONAL AREA NETWORK):

2. LAN(LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
3. MAN(METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK)
4. WAN(WIDE AREA NETWORK)
PAN: It is a network formed by connecting a few personal devices like computer,
laptop, mobile phone, smart phone, and printer. All these devices lie within an
approximate 10m. A personal area network maybe wired or wireless. For ex: a
mobile phone connected to a laptop through usb forms a wired PAN while two smart
phones communicating with each other through Bluetooth technology form a
wireless PAN or WPAN.

LAN: It is a network that connects computers mobile phones, tablets, mouse,

printers, etc. placed at a limited distance the geographical area covered by LAN can
reach range from a single floor of an office to other floors in the same office.
MAN: Metropolitan network is and extended form of LAN which covers a larger
geographical area like city or town, data transfer rate in MAN also ranges in mbps

WAN: Wide area network connects computers and other LANs and MANs which are
spread across different geographical locations of a country or different continent. A
wan can be formed by connecting LAN to another LAN via wireless media.
