Conditional Sentence

 Pengertian Conditional Sentence

Merupakan kalimat majemuk yang berisi sebuah pengandaian, akan kejadian yang belum terjadi.
Dalam kalimat Bahasa Inggris, kalimat ini diawali dengan ‘if’.

Dengan bentuk “If-clause + main clause.”

 Tipe-Tipe Conditonal Sentence

1. Conditional Sentence Type 0

Tipe ini digunakan ketika kebenarannya terwujud dengan berbentuk present tense.

If + simple present, simple present » If we burn paper, it becomes ash.

2. Conditional Sentence Type 1

Digunakan ketika memiliki kemungkinan untuk terjadi di masa depan dan berbentuk
kalimat simple future

If + simple present,  simple future “will” / imperative » If it rains, I will stay at home.

3. Conditional Sentence Type 2

Digunakan ketika hasil terwujudnya sangat kecil.

If + simple past/were, would/could/might + bare infinitive. » If I were you, I’d tell him
the truth.

4. Conditional Sentence Type 3

Digunakan ketika tidak mungkin terwujud dan berbentuk kalimat past perfect

If + past perfect, would/should/could/might + have + past participle. » Had I locked the


car, the thief wouldn’t have stolen my car
