Reflection and Goal Setting Page

I didn't expect my life to turn out this way. I'd been to many challenges. Being a mother at an
early age was never easy. I gave up my future for what was ahead of me. Many people had told me
that when I became a mother and a wife, I had to choose between being a good mother and staying
at home or continuing my dreams. They told me that motherhood was the end of everything for a
woman, and that's what I thought for how many years. Before, my relatives bragged about me
because of my achievements but not until I made a mistake. It was pretty offensive for me to be
branded as the family's black sheep because of my mistakes. My relatives used this as an example to
my cousin to never follow in my footstep, and I'm a terrible influence on my younger cousins. Some
said that because I became a mother at an early age, I'm already useless and dependent on my
husband. Those words hit me so hard. That's when I started to think of continuing my dreams.

As the years passed, I realized that I didn’t have to choose between being a mother and focusing
on my dreams. Instead of choosing, I realized that I only have to manage my time wisely to be able
to do two tasks simultaneously. I became determined to finish what I had started. I want to pursue
my studies for myself, my family, and our future. Instead of being discouraged because of many
rants and disappointments, I turned it into encouragement. I had realized many things. I realized
that time is gold and that we have to live to the fullest because we only live once, but we must take
this with precautions. I have to heal myself from people who degraded me and prove to them that I
am more than what they think of me.

Today I’m already one step away from my dreams. I never expected this to happen. I can’t
believe I am almost there. I know that this is not the end; instead, this is just the beginning of my
lifelong journey, and I promise to do my best in everything. My love for my family gives me the urge
to pursue this dream. I want to share my family the best. I want my parents to be proud of me and
give back for their sacrifices. I thank God for the wisdom and knowledge. I thank all the people who
push me to the limit. I want to become a living testimony that being a mother is never a hindrance to
pursuing dreams and that everyone is entitled to their future.
