Early morning around 5 am Mumbai it’s drizzling, orange sky

Sc 1/ Day EXT/ Road/ Gauravi, others

We establish shots of Mumbai at an early hour in the morning, negligible traffic, newspaper
vendors tying up newspapers, it drizzles lightly…. streets wet… milkmen on the roads on the
cycles, etc, all this in the backdrop and a group of around 15-20 people, haath mein thaali,
paani ki bottles, etc… thoda aagey peeche, walking bare feet on the pavement, all dressed in
simple middle class clothes, some men, some women, as one of the girls, Gauravi, a thaali in
hand, shouts with excitement- Ganpati Bappa… every one in chorus goes- Morya…

Now we show the next line, behind her, there are two women (mid aged) talking as one says,
Pragati ki shaadi ho gayi pichhle mahine… suna hai Mrunmayee ka bhi London mein college ka
admission ho gaya… bas ek yeh hai, hum sab log 10 saal se aa rahe hai… chhote se bada group
bann gaya hamara- Ganpati darshan ka… sabhi ki muraadein puri huyi, bass pata nahi Bappa
iski kyu nahi sunta… the other woman says- haan, umar bhi dhal rahi hai, shaadi hi nahi ho
rahi…bada bhai toh alag ho hi gaya…aur chhota wala bhi settle nahi hua… akeli kab tak ghar
sambhaalegi…suna hai pichhle 3 rishte isliye thukra diye kyunki gauravi ki shart thi ki uski
salary woh apne maayeke bhejegi… the man next to her, presumably her husband hushes her…

In the line ahead, Gauravi is walking with her friends, when one of them says to Gauravi- did
you hear that? Those women behind? Gauravi just calmly smiles and says- yes I did. The friend,
a bit irritated says these aunties na- they only think and equate success and happiness with
marriage.. Gauravi, holds her friend’s hand, says they are concerned.. but honestly, Pallavi (the
friend), everyone asks for something but I don’t.. we ask for things because we want to be
happy. I just ask for happiness so God will give us what will make us happy.. girls proceed…
woman behind we pan and show has heard and the man who hushed his wife says to the
women- maybe getting married is not everything… maybe Bappa is writing her destiny…
humse choti ladki itni badi baat kar gayi.. Bhagwan sabki kahani likhta hai aur kabhi kabhi wo
wo deta hai jo tujhe chahiye.. jo kuch nahi maangte unhe wo deta hai jo unhe bhi nahi pata ke
unhe chahiye.. HE is planning a story.. kahani ka sabse bada aur achcha part end ke liye… we
show Gauravi in the foreground as he says this…

SC 2/ Day INT/ Karmarkar house/ Gauravi, Aniket, Prathamesh, Kanchan, Gunjan, Asmi,
students
Gauravi is back home, she is getting ready in her room, to go to the office, her sister Asmi we
see, is on Instagram, lazy laidback, still in bed scrolling on the phone… and tabhi the mother
Kanchan comes with wada paos and says, main market se le aayi thi baba ke liye fro shivaji
park…. dada ke yahan bhi bhijwa dena… ussi pe asmi jumps in and says, woh humare liye toh
kabhi kuch nahi laate, rehne do na aayi… kanchan says, aise nahi bolte badon ke baare
mein…asmi makes a face…with Gunjan and says- ye lo, she’s ready… Gunjan we see is this quiet
little girl, wearing a simple dress, hanky pinned to her her chest area, Gauravi talks to her
sweetly and she replies in over emphasised words… we get to know she is a bit slow… Kanchan
says, I’ll get her breakfast, gauravi says- I’ve packed everyone’s tiffins and Dada ke yahan
aniket ko bhej dungi…Kanchan pats her cheek as she goes… and now Asmi says… aaj phir se
mandir… Gauravi says, haan kyun… Asmi says- you believe in miracles? No I don’t… Miracles
don’t happen. Asmi says, Shriya ne kal Insta story pe quote daala tha- Something surprising
happens in the most mundane days… Gauravi says- tum aur tumhari Shriya the diva! Uske post
pe comment karna, my sister doesn’t believe in miracles!

And this is when she gets a call… hello?

SC 3/ Day INT/ Event/ Rishi, manager, PA, others

Cut to- rishi’s PA saying, haan, aap Gauravi Karmarkar bol rahi hain, you handle the Vileparle
outlet of Mehta diamonds… The boss wants the 25 lakh wala neck piece for the fashion show
that’s happening… haan Rishi sir… and we see Rishi who was in soft focus, now he is in focus…
and through him and around him, we show the posh set up of a fashion show, ramp in the
middle, seating arrangements either sides, beech mein it says the signange of Mehta Diamonds
and a number 20 (to signify years), done up poshly… and Rishi we show is dressed up in
flamboyant clothes, his hair in place, he looks every bit of the suvave business men there… the
models are trying the dummy walk, a couple of them exchange looks and go an animated wow
as they see him, but Rishi hasn’t seen it, nor does it make any difference to him, he’s the kinds
who knows that he has an impact on women, but doesn’t care… he has a look exchange
particularly with one of the models…. we establish he knows her… the model gives him a
naughty exchange…and flaunts her walk…then (keep it very subtle please) uske baaju mein is
the vent manager who is giving instructions to the teams on the VVIP seating etc… how all
diamond neckpieces should shine, the lighting needs to be proper… no mistakes, sharp 4 baje
event shuru karna hai..else you’d see a side of rishi sir’s, people shudder to. tabhi rishi says, Wo
ek haar jo kam pad raha tha- uska kya hua? maine 11 nahi 12 haar mangwaye the… jaldi
bulwao…Manager says, mangaaya hai sir… we pan and show the lavishness of the event and
charge on Mehta diamonds ka emblem…

SC 4/ Day INT/ Gauravi room/ Gauravi, Asmi

SC 4A/ Day INT/ Hall/ Aniket, Prathamesh, Gunjan, Kanchan, Gauravi, others, Paresh, Devyani
That fashion show? Tumko wahaan bulaya hai? XYZ five star mein? OH MY GAAAWDDD Tai!,
shouts Asmi as Gauravi says, store se lete huye aa jaungi! Asmi: You know Shriya’s also going to
go LIVE from there! Aaj mauka mila hai, you ought to take me along… Gauravi tries to say no,
but Asmi bagair suney, rushes for a shower… and now we see Prathamesh is heard from
outside, Gauravi, beta, ek cup chai banao… charge on her as she steps out…

In the compact sized hall, children sitting on the floor, working in their note books, Aniket we
see as he is tying his shoe laces, getting ready for work says to his father curtly, she’s walked
and come back from Siddhivinayak. She has to drop Gunjan at the Aadhar trust for her weekly
progress class… children watching the drama… she has her office to go… and aapke liye chai
bhi wohi banaaye… Prathamesh says itna hai toh tum banaa do… Aniket gets up, nahi, mujhe
kaam hai… aur kaam se pyaar bhi… aap jaise nahi, ki beech mein hi VRS le ke baith gaye,
responsibilities ko tai pe, ma pe daalke… khud baith gaye arm chair par, dusro pe hukum
jataane… the mother comes out now, chai with her… arey laayi na main chai… quiet now…
Prathamesh starts humming some random tune, and sits in his chair, deaf ear to son’s
comment, that pisses Aniket more and he says, kabhi socha hai, thakk jaati hongi yeh, and tabhi
gauravi comes and says… shhh… baas… subah subah don’t start now… sun, bhaiya ke yahan
yeh wada pao bhijwana hai… tu de aayega jaake? aniket says, devyani bhabhi kabhi kuch lene
deti hai? ek papa hain aur ek paresh bhaiya… baba yahan kuch karte nahi aur bhabhi bhaiya ko
yahan aane nahi deti… sabki responsibility aapne uthayi hui hai… jo aaj bhaiya ko karna
chahiye tha family ke liye, woh aap kar rahi hain…. and as aniket rants on we show saamne
main door ke saamne se paresh (big brother) and devyani (paresh’s wife) are passing and
hearing aniket’s words, he stops… devyani nudges him and says, in logon ka pet jhagde se
bharta hoga humein kaam kar ke bharna padta hai… chaliye…. paresh moves on in silence… we
establish the elder brother doesn’t live with them… and aniket considers father and elder
brother both spineless…gauravi says, chhod yeh sab…Aai, I have to reach the event, have taken
my tiffin… now I’ll leave, she takes Gunjan who is sitting there in the hall and looks at Aniket
and darts a look saying no arguments… Aniket usko dekh ke goes quiet… Kanchan looks at the
kids and says- kya dekh rahe ho- karo apna homework… she gets to correct someone’s wrong
answer, thus estabishing upar upar se that these are tution kids…

SC 5/ Day INT- EXT/ Venue Parking lot/ Anuj, Gauravi, others

We open with a busy red carpet five star hotel venue where the fashion show is going to
happen… on one end we see the glamour and glitterati, the papparazzi clicking pictures and
taking bytes of all those who are passing by and getting inside, posing for pictures… the
standees of Mehta Diamond 20th anniversary prominent on the way… there are filmstars,
models, lots of big people at the event… and now we pan and show a sight, as these people
alight and go- the parking lot, the valets, etc of the place… right outside the red carpet… there
are the valet people, whistling and showing around… but with them manning all this is a man
in white pants, simple footwear, simple shirt and a slight Gujrati accent as he physically gets
directing the staff people handling the jams so that peeche ka cars move… anuj is guiding staff
people to do their jobs properly as it’s chaotic there…he seems very hands on as he says- raju
uss car ko A level pe le jao… basement mein dekhna… peeche ki car he has to stop, as he says,
dileep arey wo toh company ki hai, saarukh aa raha hai… saarukh ki gaadi thodi na rokenge,
jaane de unko… he says… a few girls get out of the car to move towards the event, they ask
questions in English and we see Anuj uncomfortable in talking English confidently, he answers
in broken English words… as they leave, he gets back to his job and we see that otherwise, he is
like a well posted staff member helping the parking people with their job… tabhi security pe on
walkie talkie… its heard… Anuj bhai hai kya udhar? Anuj says haan bhai bolo… Achha aata hoon
main…this area is something like the exterior part of venue where guests get dropped na from
their cars or is it a proper parking lot..?? exterior area where the guests are getting dropped,
little drizzle, guards and helpers around…traffic cops..

SC 6/ Day INT/ Event/ Padmini, Shriya, Rishi, others

We start the scene with a pretty, cute and fashionably dressed diva of a girl capturing the event
on Instagram live and then she does a selfie camera and says, that’s right guys, that’s our event,
we Mehtas turn 20! Woohoo! Around her by now we see the music set up, the DJ console, the
guests arriving and getting seated, the starters doing the rounds, the cocktails being served…
pictures clicked, the whole place is buzzing, and we see Shriya is talking about it, even asking
guests on her LIVE feed, how they are feeling about it, some congratulate her and her family,
some talk about how spectacular its looking and they cant wait for it to begin… and this is
when her brother, Rishi, comes by, and Shriya’s like, bro bro, wassup… okay wait, girls on my
feed want to say hi… he ducks in her selfie mode and says Hi… she’s like- eligible bachelor…
and she rolls her eyes as Rishi taps her nose and she’s like bro yaa, go! Dekho ma’s calling…

We show Padmini call out to Rishi and Rishi reaches the first row aisle and talks to his mother,
touches her feet, mother says softly, wah sabke saamne payr chhoo raha hai… Rishi smiles,
doesn’t say anything… Padmini says achha lag raha hai… event, tu, sab… achha, sunn toh… and
this is when he spots the event guy aligning the models, who we see have now worn the haars,
they are ready, seated waiting for the show to start… he comes and asks- where’s the haar? Ek
kam hai… event manager says, the girl has reached, abhi phone nahi lagg raha… Rishi says-
what??? I guess this is the main hall where the models are going to walk the ramp..YES Padmini
is sitting In the first row and quite a few guest have also taken seats and some of them enetering
one by one..so how and where is Rishi spotting the event guy still aligning the models..?? it’s like a
large banquet… middle is a ramp dividing the seating area in two…. rishi stands near the ramp
and is supervising…

SC 7/ Day INT/ Venue Check In Counter/ Gauravi, Anuj, others

Network problem hai, sir, yeh dekhiye mera card- I work for the store… security staff at the
checking in (metal detector area) says- event ka pass nahi ho toh nahi bhej sakte andar
madam… and this is when Anuj comes there… This I guess is the proper entry to the
hall/banquet where the event is happening..and here all passes are being checked… YES kya
problem hai, and she turns… and as she turns, he’s come so close that uske haath se necklace
wala bag girta hai, the box slips out and both bend down, he puts it in for her and gives… she
says thanks… (note: not to be played as love at first sight moment, should be very casual) he
says mention not… she smiles… and then as they stand, he says to the people disallowing her to
go- kya hua? He says- yehi hai, jinke liye aapko phone kiya tha… she says- I got a call from
Mehra ji… he says he’s handling the event… Anuj says haan haan wohi sambhaal rahe hai… inhe
jaane do… staff says par pass… Anuj gives his pass to her, she says yeh chalega? He says private
section ka pass hai, hamari company ka fashion show hai ne, toh ek mere paas bhi hai… she
feels greatful and says thanks… he says mention not… (she doesn’t correct him, just helps) she
says- don’t mention… he smiles and repeats… background mein we see it rains lightly… the two
of them stand in front… she goes in… we show a couple more red carpet like shots and walkie
talkie pe sunne milta hai- Alia ki gaadi aa rahi hai… Anuj is also there as he hears, saath mein
aur do cars hai… Anuj says, arey, I’ve to be there… he rushes towards the parking area now…

SC 8/ Day INT/ Venue INT/ Gauravi, Anuj, Padmini, Shriya, Rishi, others
SC 9/ Day EXT/ Market - Paani Puri Stall/ Asmi, others

We see Rishi is addressing some press reporter who is taking his exclusive interview seated in
a corner area (we can use the same one, later for when the family gathers to talk about Anuj),
is this also the main area where the event Is happening..?? But guests have already taken seats so
where exactly would Rishi be doing this exclusive Interview..?? this can happen near the stage
where the 20 year celebration emblem is visible… distant from seating area there is a Mehta
diamonds ka standee there and we see interrupting the interview, with the crackling sound of
the plastic bag, comes and stands a panting Gauravi and that breaks Rishi’s line of thought. We
reveal her from his POV, as she keeps standing there, not realising that there is a camera set up
behind that’s recording him… the event manager who is standing there, pulls her aside, but we
see Rishi has regsitered this girl in his head… event guy, Mehra says- who are you? She tells
him, and informs him about the network issue, etc and Mehra’s in no mood to listen… He takes
the haar from her, tells her to wait till the event gets over and then take the haar and go…and
get a sign on the slip that the jewellery brought here was returned… stamp karwa lena gate
pass pe…gauravi nods…

Here, everyone’s gathered, all seats almost taken, the event is ready to take off… Anuj comes
and touches Padmini’s feet and says, maalkin, sab theek? She says, kahaan ho tum? He says,
arey I was handling things neeche… sab achhe se hona chahiye na… padmini says, baith
yahaan… she is about to make him sit when Shriya comes there and looking at him and
Padmini says, Alia plus 4 leke aayi hai, and front row seats are almost full… ab kya karein? and
on his feet we see Anuj thinks and he says to a few of the other guests, thoda aagey jaa ke, arey
Mehul bhai, Vipul bhai, chalo, peeche baith ke dekhte hai, thoda baat cheet bhi ho jayegi… he
vacates the seats, gives an assuring glance to Shriya… and Shriya heaves a sigh… Padmini
notices all this and how Shriya plonks herself next to her and all carefree… and now we see the
emcee announce Rishi to come on stage and say a few words….
While Rishi is called upon, at the podium, we see there is applause, Anuj peeche settled hai, he
also claps along with the assoicates, and then tells them, hang on, let me get some khaane ka
intezaam… he gets up… (backdrop mein we can even see the Alia seats being filled, just a
suggestion shot if required)

We see Rishi come and take centre stage as he opens up, addressing all the special guests
arrived, announcing the honor, the pride, the humility, all that Mehta diamonds family feels
today on its 20th anniversary and me Rishi Mehta welcomes you all to see our latest collection,
the Swarowski studded, specially crafted neckpieces, each different from the other, (We see
him say this speech, with finesse in English, his mother happy, and peeche khada Anuj feeling
proud… In the same line… horizontally, we see Gauravi stand in a corner also… looking
worried…

she gets a call from prathmesh…. one sided call… he says, i’m locked out of the house… kanchan
ka phone nahi lag raha… aniket mera phone nahi uthata… aur tere bade bhai ke ghar mein
kabhi nahi jaunga…. yahan aake mujhe chaabi de extra wali…. gauravi says, papa mein event pe
hu…. prathmesh says, toh main bahar barish mein khada rahu?…. gauravi says, aap baaju wale
uncle ke yahan thodi der ruko main jaldi se wahan aati hu jaise hi yahan ka kaam khatam hota
hai….We show Gauravi who is on the phone with the woman from Aadhar Trust. The lady at
the Aadhar trust office (it can be a one sided phone cut) says- she has been crying ever since
she has come here and asking to be taken home. We tried everything. Can someone come and
pick her up? Gauravi worried, says, yes, yes, will do, right away… But meanwhile, if you can
give her some ice and nimbu paani… it usually makes her feel good… and don’t worry, will have
her picked… she says and hangs up… She looks ahead… the ramp walk and all has begun… the
event in progress…

Here, Anuj sees the waiters passing starters and a few stray starters in the plate- This is the
event area.would it have startes being served here..?? can do, people generally get mocktails and
light snack served…he asks them- sunoh, what happens to these starters- the waiter says, we
throw it… Anuj says, arey, baahar logonko khana nahi mil raha, tum log aisa wastage kar rahe
ho? Ek kaam karo. Mujhe parcel kar ke de do… Azaad nagar signal pe bhooke log rehte hai,
main de dunga… waiter says, my boss will not like it… Anuj says, main baat kar lunga… theek
hai, he reads the name- Rames bhai?

This is when Gauravi walks up to Anuj who is standing there, thinking he is a part of the event
team… she asks him- hello… I’m gauravi… anuj says, namaste… myself Anuj… hum log pehle bhi
miley hai… wo neeche security ke paas, Gauravi eagerly says haan haan… may I ask you
something?? Anuj says, sure… when is this event getting over? Anuj says, shayad 2 ghante lagg
sakte hai an hour more maybe… hesitantly asks (purely as a host)- aap bore thayi gayi? He asks
her… she says, nahi, I actually need to go… Anuj says, khana lagwa doon… veg item wahaan hai,
non veg… she says no no… I need to… never mind… she goes aside… and she makes a phone
call to Asmi…

I/c The models walking, everyone watching, applauding, etc…

I/c Asmi answers… You didn’t take me for the event! I am so pissed…as she gobbles down a
paani puri… Gauravi says- sunoh, there is an emergency abhi… Asmi hears on the other side…
slightly sukly still, and says- Aai to college mein hai, unka phone band hai…baba ghar ke bahar
lock ho gaye hain… tu kahan hai? asmi says, meri class hai na di… tuition nahi chhod sakti…
she asks for more paani puri as she lies to gauravi making a face… main nahi jaa sakti ab
wapas… aap dekh lo… achha ab bye, sir aa gaye class mein…and she hangs up…baba has gone
for some insurance meetings, and I cant leave the house… mera courier aa raha hai… Gauravi
says- what courier… Asmi says, hai, ek dress… wo online dekha tha na… Gauravi says, kal nahi
ho sakta wo… Gunjan ko… Asmi says please ga tai… I cant… online delivery ka hai… Gauravi
says, hello?… she hangs up… she takes a moment and now spots Rishi standing in the aisle/
wings somewhere… TUITION BUNK

She walks up to him, even while the event manager is talking to him about the last show
stopper walk along with all the models… and this is when Rishi hears Gauravi say- excuse me
sir… Rishi looks at her, ignores… Gauravi restless… the models have gathered now… and the
announcement happens… and we see Rishi getting disturbed with her interrupting the chat…
when he says- I SAW YOU. I am IGNORING YOU. Kind of in the middle of something… Now Rishi
goes up on the ramp, but he’s kind of irritated with the interaction… and at one point when he
goes up on stage and he is walking with the other girls, he sort of is about to trip… and there is
a hush hush that he senses, reactions… Padmini sees… he holds himself straight, but in all that,
he has just seen Gauravi… Anuj also sees, about to go- but figuring that Rishi has gathered
himself, he eases back… Here, cheesed off as hell, rishi still completes the walk with the models
and comes back…

Back in the wings, Rishi comes back, his toe hurting, and the sight of Gauravi just works him
up… gauravi says, sir, I really wouldn’t have disturbed, but kuch urgent hai… Rishi snaps- SHUT
UP! JUST SHUT THE FA.. aukaat nahi hoti tum logonki… kya hota hai urgent… conveyance slip
pe sign chahiye, ya company ki gaadi mein pick up and drop chahiye madam ko? You are an
employee… This is my company’s big event. Our big moment… I tripped in there, because of
you having disturbed my line of thought! Really, like this is what pisses me off… arey tumhara
ghar, tumhari tankhwa, happens because WE run this empire… then how can your urgent be
more important than your boss’s urgent… Gauravi is shocked… sir but… Rishi just snaps at her,
like- Buzz off! Out of my sight… we charge on a frozen Gauravi…

SC 9/ MAGIC HOUR + NIGHT EXT/ Road- Various/ Gauravi, Anuj, others

SC 10/ NIGHT INT/ Event venue - separate hall/ Rishi, Padmini, Shriya, others
SC 11/ NIGHT INT/ Car/ Gauravi, Anuj
Gauravi is walking down on the road, sun set ho raha hai… with her bag, looking worried,
Rishi’s lines affecting her up like crazy… the traffic noises getting on her nerves, the phone
rings, she has held back her tears… she says, ji baba yes ma’am, I’m on my way… will reach
abhi… she is hailing autos… koi ya toh ruk nahi raha… ya jaane se manaa kar raha hai… and
then she starts walking and her sandal breaks… she heaves a sigh, her patience is being tested,
she just continues walking… holding her sandals, seedha going ahead… a few shots of this…
some city shots, to show time transition… to night

As she says, can it get any worse than this! She mumbles and it begins to rain… She goes- NO!!!
and she gets irritated… but keeps walking not giving up…

This is when she spots a silhouette of a man much ahead, his car parked aside… he is giving
food packets to beggars… his voice as he tells them to eat well, sounds familiar… and as he
approaches his car back… in the light of the car, she sees it is Anuj… she wonders… feels nice
about this act of his… but hurriedly keeps walking knowing she needs to get to Gunjan… we see
Gauravi keeps walking, Anuj gets in his car… and as Gauravi is walking parallel to his
Ambassador, he slows down, and says, madam! And Gauravi looks around… the street light, the
rain, all making her look like a mess, still pretty in her own simple way, as he looks at her and
says, can I drop you somewhere? She says, no… its okay… Anuj says, baarish ho rahi hai, you
may not get an auto quick… mujhe guilty feel hoga if I could help but could not. She has a soft
smile as she takes a moment to think and enters… She comes and sits in the car…

Here, at the event, we see the event has reached its peak, the champagne is opened, everyone
celebratory… This Is not the same area where the event happened right..?? This must be a party
hall kind of a place for the drinks and food or is it the same area..?? yes, added above, this is a
separate hall where people are celebrating… after party and socialising types…music baj raha
hai, photo ops, bytes of people, people congratulating Rishi, Shriya also around, doing insta
stories with celebs, media doing PTCs reporting the coverage, and saying such a spectacular
event and if anyone knows how to do these parties like this, its Rishi Mehta, the name
synonymous with mehta diamonds ka success… lets talk to him…

Here, we see Anuj lowers the AC as he sees wo thithur rahi hai… he offers her tissue… she says
thanks… he says, aap aise achanak fashion show se… she says, don’t remind me of that… he
says what happened? She takes off on Rishi… samajhte kya hai yeh log? Just because they are
rich and famous, hamari koi izzat nahi? Kuch bhi bol denge? Anuj says kaun? She says wohi
hamare maalik Rishi Mehta…

Here, Rishi is asked questions… and he says its all hard work, destiny and support from people,
etc… Padmini watching all this from a distance, slightly affected… Padmini walks ahead to
Shriya and tells her, call Rishi now, I want to have a word with him… Shriya says, but he’s
busy… she says NOW!

Anuj says, arrey itne bhi burey nahi hai wo… maybe you caught him in a wrong moment… give
him a benefit of doubt… she says, could he not have given me one? All I asked for a minute
because I had this family emergency I had to rush to… you know… look at you… you stopped
the car… you helped me… I mean, there can be understanding, why is it so difficult for people?
Anuj feels thoda touched but doesn’t know what to say, all he manages to say is jaane do ney…
