Banana Peelings (Musa Paradisiaca) As An Alternative Source of Etyhl Alcohol
Banana Peelings (Musa Paradisiaca) As An Alternative Source of Etyhl Alcohol
ALCOHOL
CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTINGS
This research is conducted to give meaning to banana peelings. The study attempted to
extract ethanol from banana peelings. Since bananas can be a problem for our culture. Some
might step on them, and some might have slid on them. But we can transform this into positive
results.
Since the supply of ethyl alcohol is too low and this time as well, we are running out of
alcohol that is highly needed to protect and prevent us from the viruses and bacteria that
surround us, particularly COVID-19, and demand is also intense. In order to cater the needs of
the community and to minimize the production of Musa paradisiaca peelings that are only
wasted by the consumer when consuming its substance, the researchers choose a study on
"Production of Ethyl Alcohol out of Banana Peelings.
The researchers are conducting research so that banana peels can be used as alternative
source materials in the manufacture of alcohol, which is clearly needed in this time.
Research Objectives
The main objective of this study is to produce ethyl alcohol that is made up of ripe banana
peelings that can prevent and protect us from the viruses and bacteria that may give us illness.
This study focuses on:
● To find out how effective the alternative ethyl alcohol.
● To develop a new anti-bacterial solution that is natural, eco-friendly, and safe to the
consumer.
● To provide alternative alcohol that is affordable to consumers.
● To find out methods in producing ethyl alcohol using banana peelings.
Statement of the Problem
The researchers would like to find out whether Ethyl alcohol can be produced by the Banana
Peelings. In addition, it aims to answer the following questions:
1. What physical characteristics of ethyl alcohol present from the alcohol of banana peels?
2. In terms of their flammability test, is there a significant difference between the experimental
alcohol and the consumer product?
Null Hypothesis
Ethanol can possibly be extracted from the peels of bananas. There is no significant difference
between the commercial ethyl alcohol and the extracted one.
This project plan is significant because it shows the potential for Ethyl production of banana
peelings. It is important for us to know the ways in which we can reduce pollution by recycling,
because alcohol is very important in this pandemic. It is also important for all. For many people
who have a problem buying commercial alcohol, this may be an eye-opener. For them, this can
serve as an idea to save energy and begin to recycle. For the following sectors, this study is
important:
● Students. This study will give knowledge to the students to be more careful in throwing a fruit
in garbage and students will be more aware that the peel of fruit can be useful and can also
generate purpose for the society.
● Community. It can be helpful to the community especially in this pandemic because some
people can’t purchase ethyl alcohol because sometimes ethyl alcohol is out of stock, so this
study will give awareness to the community that if they can’t purchase ethyl alcohol, they can
use banana peel to make ethyl alcohol and give them protection from COVID 19 and it can also
save money.
● Research Teachers. Teachers can use banana peels in the school cafeteria as an alternative
source for alcohol since school is very prone to covid.
