Step 1 — Repairing Kenwood KDC-X590 Blank Faceplate Resistors

 Sorry for not including a complete


tear down but I have no other
images of this work.

 Due to temperature changes in the


car the solder will crack on this
model and possibly others close to it
causing the faceplate to no longer
display. After unscrewing the
housing and removing the cd unit
locate the 10 surface mount
resistors marked r27 shown in red.

 Using a small tip soldering iron


reflow the solder on each edge of
the resistor. You should not need to
add any extra but in my case I did
for a few.

 After all 20 contacts have been


reflowed to the 10 resistors reattach
the cd drive and case.

 Enjoy your display like it was new


again!

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
