2. Romantic music
3. Baroque music
4. Renaissance music
5. Modern music

Activity 2. Completing the table . To check your understanding of the lesson, complete
and write your answer on what is asked below: (15 points)
Music Characteristic Choose one song Reason out why
among the examples you have chosen
given in the lesson that example.
content.
1. Baroque Baroque composers focused
heavily on upper and lower
tones, or on the parts to be
played by bass and soprano.
This often left those
musicians who played in
between those ranges to
improvise their own work.
Baroque compositions also
focused heavily on layered
melodies, which meant that
the same notes would often
be repeated throughout a
composition, albeit played by
different musicians. As a
result, music that was
originally written to teach
how to play an instrument
soon was as popular as
concert pieces. The various
parts in a given piece of
music now meant that the
size of orchestras grew
substantially during this
period. Composers required
multiple violins in many
pieces, for example. Further,
the types of instruments
available also made this
growth of orchestra size
inevitable.

2. Classical Less complicated texture

than Baroque (more
homophonic).
 Emphasis on beauty,
elegance and balance.
More variety and contrast
within a piece than
Baroque (dynamics,
instruments, pitch, tempo,
key, mood and timbre).

3. Romantic ●Freedom of form and

design. Also, more
personal and emotional.
●Song-like melodies
(lyrical) and many
chromatic harmonies and
discords.
●Dramatic contrasts of
dynamics and pitch.
●Nationalism.

4. Modern One aspect of modern

(20th century) music is
Impressionism. This
style talks about
composers such as
Debussy, and goes
through some history
and examples of this
style of writing. In the
20th century, Western
music began to fracture
into many different
styles. Modernism is one
such style, which can be
described as very odd
and discordant.

1. Crafting images is one among the four categories of soulmaking. Choose one
among the activities and perform.
2. Write a three paragraph on the importance of applying the Seven da Vincian

3. Design and draw or create your own mascot with a Christmas theme. If draw, name it
and write a description. If create, use recyclable materials and take a photo of it then
upload to Google classroom.

The seven essential principles for thinking like Leonardo are:

Curiosità, Dimostrazione, Sensazione, Sfumato, Arte/Scienza,
Corporalita, and Connessione.

The seven principles of Leonardo da Vinci might help you

discover new sources of inspiration, insight, and drive in your
life. You'll learn that calling oneself a "genius" is something you
should feel comfortable doing, and that the most important thing
you can do to cultivate that quality is work hard at it. "Genius
thinking" can seem like a big task, but you'll be surprised to learn
that it's easier than you thought and a lot more fun. It's likely that
Leonardo's ideas about how to use your own power will agree
with many of your own strongest instincts about how to do that.

Each principle will reveal a notion and investigate its importance

in our lives, how we can be aware of it, and how we may foster its
development.
