Answer the following:

1. What do you think are the virtues that young people like you are strong at? Why?
List down three. 10 points.

 Compassion
- Compassion is the emotion of kindness for someone who is in pain or
distress. Even if you don't know them, you can tell they care and want to
assist. It means being kind and forgiving to someone who has wronged you.
When individuals are harmed or in difficulties, they frequently feel isolated.
Feeling isolated might exacerbate the situation. The world is a harsh and
lonely place without compassion. Being sympathetic makes us feel less
isolated. Compassion enables us to comprehend both others and
ourselves. Compassion begins with observing when someone appears
unhappy or distressed. Put yourself in their shoes and consider how you
would react if it happened to you. Consider how you may assist. Spend time
listening and then saying nice things.
 Social Justice
- Being just entails being fair in whatever you do. It is seeing with your own
eyes rather than evaluating something or someone based on what others
say. Being just entails sticking up for your own and other people's rights. It is
accepting responsibility and making apologies if you make a mistake. Every
person's rights are guaranteed by justice. Without justice, people may get
away with hurting or exploiting others and continue to do so. The world may
be a cruel and deadly place without justice. Gender, race, and religion are
all used to assess people. Everyone gets a fair chance to be seen for who
they are when justice is applied. When someone is accused of anything,
they are given the opportunity to defend themselves.
 Determination
- Determination is the ability to focus your energy and efforts on a goal and
then persist with it until it is completed. Determination is the use of one's
willpower to accomplish something difficult. You are determined to
achieve your objectives. Even when things are difficult or you are being
tested, you persevere. Things do not get done unless there is a strong desire
to do so. People give up quickly and do not seek assistance when they are
in need. Determine what is most important to you. Then utilize your will to
make it happen. Finish what you begin. If problems arise, deal with them
and get back on track. If you become disheartened or distracted, recall
your aim and restart.

2. What do you think are the virtues that young people like you should develop or
nurture? Why? List down three. 10 points

 Patience
- It entails a waiting period. Patience is the ability to persevere––to stick with anything for
as long as it takes. We are accustomed to immediate response and constant updates. As
a result, we can comprehend information faster than previous generations;
nevertheless, our attention spans may be shorter as well. We must cultivate patience by
accepting things over which we have no control. Patience allows us to stay with what we
want to undertake even when it becomes tough or monotonous. We endure until the
task is completed, even if there is no reward for all of our efforts until the very end. We
are willing to create objectives for your future since we believe it is well worth the
effort.
 Moderation
- Moderation is achieving a healthy balance in your life by balancing work and recreation,
relaxation, and exercise. It is having or doing just enough of something—not too much,
nor too little, but just enough for you. Moderation allows us to maintain our equilibrium
and avoid being ruled by our wants. We can overdo things if we don't have the correct
moderation to balance every act we undertake in our life. We have a tendency to focus
too much on one item and neglect the other things we need to do. We often overlook
the other factors that contribute to a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and here is where
we sometimes fall short of moderation. We practice moderation by being aware of our
own limitations and what we require to perform well. People are unique. For some,
eight hours of sleep is plenty; for others, it is not. Keep an eye on yourself to make sure
you keep balanced and don't let something, such as social media, TV, computer games,
food, or a person, take over your life.
 Tact
- Tact is the ability to express the truth in a way that does not bother or offend others. It's
knowing what to say and what to leave unsaid. Being tactful is communicating your
thoughts, feelings, and opinions to others in a way that allows others to accept them.
Tact is the ability to deliberate before speaking. Knowing when to be silent is part of
being tactful. We are sometimes impolite and abrupt because we lack tact. We walk
about uttering anything that comes to mind. The feelings of others are harmed. When
individuals are upset, they say things that might harm a relationship. When you tell the
truth, you develop tact by being kin. Before you talk, pause and consider whether this is
something that should be left unsaid. Choose whether to remain silent or to speak up. If
you must speak up, do it in a way that is respectful to the sentiments of others. Don't do
anything in front of others if it may humiliate them.
A. Research for a biography of a person who lived a virtuous life. Summarize the
biography and highlight the virtues of the person that inspire you. 10 points.

Miriam Palma Defensor was born in June 1945, just two months before the
conclusion of World War II. She is the eldest of seven children born to a notable
lawyer and trial judge Benjamin Defensor and Dimpna Palma, a local educator.
Miriam grew up in a modest house with a nipa roof, where she and her siblings
played with toy automobiles built from sardine cans and bottle caps that they had
manufactured themselves. "We enjoyed the luxury of filth," Miriam said of her early
upbringing.
Miriam's yearning for fairness and justice was evident as early as her
kindergarten years. When her classmate (who also happened to be the teacher's
niece) started bothering her by erasing her work on the chalkboard, Miriam
grabbed her by the hair and wrestled her to the floor. Despite Miriam's good
intentions, her teacher sided with her nephew, forcing Miriam to finish in sixth place
despite her outstanding academic achievements. Miriam was motivated to
become a nun throughout her elementary and high school years after observing
the nuns in her neighborhood. While Miriam grew up with that goal, she gradually
lost interest after her father told her that being a nun would not help her serve God
very much.'
Miriam went to the University of the Philippines' Iloilo Campus to study law
after graduating from high school, heeding her father's advice that literary
endeavors would not allow her to support herself. Miriam was one of the top
students at UP Visayas, where she completed the four-year Political Science
program in three and a half years. Miriam then traveled to Manila to apply at the
University of the Philippines College of Law. Miriam's stay at UP Diliman was fruitful
in that she not only succeeded in her studies but her extra-curricular activities and
achievements exemplifying women's exceptional strength made her an example
and inspiration to her fellow female students.
Miriam's supervisors complimented her for her exceptional and tough
decision-making talents, as well as her extraordinary intelligence, throughout her
private legal career. She was consistently met with triumph after success,
advancing to the top of her field at all times. Miriam became well-known among
crooked politicians for firmly ordering raids on criminal syndicates and phony
passport producers during her time at the bureau. Miriam faced multiple threats
to her life as a result of her integrity work, but she just shrugged them off, saying in
an interview that she "eating death threats for breakfast."
Miriam has exemplified the perfect Filipino throughout her life and work in
both the private and governmental sectors due to her unwavering determination
to succeed. She is a wonderful inspiration to many people all around the world
because of her incredible perseverance, courage, and stance for truth and
justice. Her life story tells us that if we sincerely believe in what we are working for,
we can confront any difficulty, no matter how enormous it may be.
