Project Name :

Online Railway Management System – JAVA(JSP) + Tomcat Server + MySQL Database

Abstract:

In this current pandemic time of COVID-19 booking train tickets by traditional manner have
become risky and sometime impossible but this website make the process of booking ticket and
keeping updates of the train easier and more convenient to the general public providing user friendly
interface to the end user and provide them with option to book ticket from any location as they need
The Online Railway Management System is used to overcome the entire problem which they are facing
currently and making the process of booking ticket completely online.

Advantages:

Provides complete web-based solution, enhanced the whole process of ticket booking and provide
the user-friendly interface to the end user while keeping the user updated on the train schedules.

Project Scope:

From an end-user perspective, the Online Railway Management System Project consists of tow
functional elements.

• Booking and cancellation of the ticket: Helps user to book or cancel the ticket from any location
and customize their seat as per their need and select their journey route

• Updates on train : Providing user the essential information on the train schedules which helps
the user to make right choice for itself

Modules:

Home Page, Login page, sign up page, Add Train page, Update Train page, Payment page, forget
password page, reset page, PNR status page, booking page, add passenger page, Contact Us page Etc.

Software Requirement:

• JDK 16 or Latest
• Eclipse/NetBeans
• Apache Tomcat Server 9.0.2
• MySQL Database

Hardware Requirements:

Processor: Intel i3 or equivalent

RAM: 4gb or Greater


Language:

• HTML: Page layout has been designed in HTML.


• CSS: CSS has been used for all the designing part.
• JavaScript: All the validation task and animations has been developed by JavaScript.
• JSP: All the front-end logic has been written in JSP.
• Java: All the business logic has been written in Java.
• MySQL: MySQL database has been used as database for the project.
• Tomcat: Project will be run over the Tomcat server.

Limitation of the Software:

This project was developed to fulfill user requirement however there are lots of scope to improve the
performance of the Online Railway Management System in the area of user interface, database
performance and query processing time Etc.

Future Enhancement:

• SMS and Email alert for train update and booking Confirmation
• Connect with different Railway APIs
