3) What is a graphical user interface?
Graphical User Interface or GUI is a type of user interface that allows users to interact with
electronic devices using images rather than text commands.
4. What is the difference between save and save as?
The main difference between Save and Save As is that Save helps to update the lastly preserved
file with the latest content while Save As helps to store a new file or to store an existing file to a
new location with the same name or a different name.
6. What is meant by editing a document?
Editing a word file means making changes in the text contained in a file. It can be any of the
following below
Adding new text.
Deleting a part of the text.
Copying a text.
Moving text.
Pasting text.
Formatting text
7.Identify and describe the purpose of tabs present in word document?
a) Home: To insert Clipboard, change font, Paragraph, Styles, Editing
b) Insert: To insert Pages, Tables, Illustrations, Links, Header & Footer, Text
c) Page Layout: To format the pages with Themes, Page Setup, Page Background,
Paragraph, Arrange
d) References: To insert Table of Contents, Footnotes, Citations & Bibliography, Captions,
Index, Table of Authorities
e) Mailings: To Create, Start Mail Merge, Write & Insert Fields, Preview Results, Finish
f) Review: To check and insert Proofing, Comments, Tracking, Changes, Compare, Protect
g) View: To view a document in Document Views, Show/Hide, Zoom, Window, to insert
Macros.

8. Identify and describe the purpose of Home Tab Groups - Clipboard, Font, Paragraph,
Styles and Editing?
Clip board group: Paste the cut or copied information in Clipboard at the location where
cursor is pointing right now.
Format painter: Formatting painter copies formatting from one place and apply to another
(To apply same formatting to many places, double-click the format painter button)
Font Group: is used to Change Font face, change font size, Grow Font, Shrink Font,
Clear formatting, Strikethrough, Subscript, Superscript, Change case. You can change the
case – sentence, lower, upper, title, or toggle. Font color, Text highlight color, bold,
italics and underline.
Paragraph group: To insert Bullets and Numbered list, Increase or decrease indent of
the paragraph, Sort alphabetically or numerically, show paragraph markups, align text
left, right, center, margins, change spacing between lines, Color background behind
selected text, Customize the borders of selected text. Add borders and shading and
formatting it.
Styles group: Format titles using different styles like Caption, Emphasis, change style,
color and font used in the document.
Editing group: Find and Replace text in the document, Select text or objects in the
document.

9. Write the steps to select spelling and Grammar option.
Review tab - Proofing group - Click on the option Spelling & Grammar

1.Position the cursor on any part of the misspelt word (the word with a wavy red
line below it).
2. Right-click the mouse.
3. A pop-up menu box appears
4. You can select the correct spelling option on the top

2. Click on the option Spelling & Grammar in the Proofing group

12. What is the difference between copy- paste and cut-paste?
In “Copy and Paste” the original set of text remains where it was and it is also pasted to another
place in the document.
In “Cut and Paste” the original set of text gets deleted and it pasted to another place in the
document.
13. Write the steps to select find and replace option.
