Power Electronics Lab Assignment-XI: Simulation of Full Bridge Inverter

This document provides instructions for simulating a full bridge inverter circuit using MATLAB Simulink. It describes the components, theory of operation, and circuit diagram of a full bridge inverter. Step-by-step instructions are given for setting up the simulation, including the required blocks, component values, and scope output measurements to analyze the output voltage and current waveforms.

Power Electronics Lab Assignment-XI

SIMULATION OF FULL BRIDGE INVERTER.

OBJECTIVE:

Simulation and Analysis of Full Bridge Inverter.

COMPONENTS REQUIRED:

MATLAB Simulink.

THEORY:

A single phase bridge DC-AC inverter is shown in figure.11.1. When the switches S1 and
S2 are turned on simultaneously for a duration 0 ≤ t ≤ T1, the input voltage Vs appears
across the load and the current flows from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’.

S1 and S2 (ON), S3 and S4 (OFF) ==> Vo = Vs

If the switches S3 and S4 turned on during T1 ≤ t ≤ T2, the voltage across the load is
reversed and the current through the load flows from point ‘b’ to point ‘a’.

S1 and S2 (OFF), S3 and S4 (ON) ==> Vo = -Vs

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

SETTING UP SIMULATION:

1) Run MATLAB software by double click on desktop icon.

2) Open blank untitled Simulink model window for creating a new model.
3) Drag and drop required blocks from Simulink library Browser window.
4) Make the circuit as shown in circuit diagram.

5) Set phase delay in pulse generator 0 for switch S1, S2 and (𝑓) ∗ (360) for S3 & S4.
6) Run the simulation and plot different graphs for analysis.
