Assessment Pieces KWL Worksheet I included this in the packet this worksheet so that students would be organized when they start their research. There is a spot for them to brainstorm words for their topic so that if one doesnt yield many results they already have others to fall back on. The KWL chart really focuses their search. If they fill in briefly what they already know, they will then know not to search for that information. They will have right in front of them the types of questions that their sources must answer. Then when they do the search they can keep track of the sources they found by writing down the bibliographic information of the text and what question of theirs does that specific source answer. Student Checklist The student checklist is mostly for the students own purpose, to make sure they have completed each step for using Proquest to do their research. This is to be done after the students have completed the KWL worksheet. The checklist also addresses if the students have completed some of the AASL standards this exercise addresses. For example standard 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.3.1 are all addressed in the KWL worksheet. This checklist when

completed will then let the teacher/librarian know if the student has completed those standards from doing this exercise. Teacher Rubric This rubric is for the teacher to complete for each student after the whole project is complete. It is a way that the teacher can both assess the students work for this project to make sure the learning goals were achieved, that the students followed the ethical guidelines of citing all sources. It is also a rubric for the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. Did it fit into the curriculum? Was the project design organized enough for students to follow? Were the instructions clear? That way the teacher can assess their own role in the project and will know for next time what worked and what didnt work.
