1) Discuss on the role of Human Resource Management in improving Organizational and
employee performance. The role of HR is important in any organization. HR acts as the communication link between management and workers. With the evolving workforce, the role of HR has also changed from being an administrative arm to becoming strategic and directly contributing toward business objectives. HR plays a crucial role in identifying talents and providing necessary training and development for its human capital to become the best version of themselves. This enables employees to effectively person on their respective roles and achieve the set business targets. Moreover, having good performing employees is paramount for any organization. While human capital is the most valuable asset of any organization, it is crucial for employees to also perform on their roles. Therefore providing relevant training, giving timely recognition and have a conducive work environment are some ways employees can perform better. 2) Evaluate the role of Human Resource planning relating to external environment and how they affect the organizational plan and objectives. The role of HR has diversified in the modern workforce. There are a lot of factors that affect the day-to-day work of a HR team in any organization. Therefore, HR has to prudently plan its activities so that there is minimal disruption to its operations from external factors. Some of the activities HR has to plan is as follows: o Forecast recruitment in a calendar year o Plan staff training & development o Contingency Plan – in case of unexpected circumstances. o Changes to laws/act or legislations. Sudden changes due to external factors causes instability to an organization to some extent. Therefore it is important for a HR Manager of any organization to be well prepared with contingency plans for external factors that may intend to disrupt the smooth operations of any organization. 3) Describe how the organization ensures the best and appropriate practices are in placed especially in terms of recruitment and selection and equal opportunities. The acquiring of the right talent is important for the business continuity of any company. It is only fair to advertise any job advertisement in the open market so that every job seeker has the opportunity to enhance employability. Therefore in order to have a recruitment process that is practical and fair for all, then the OMRS recruitment mechanism shall be adopted. O – Open M – Merit R – Recruitment S – Selection 4) Examine the role of employee relations manager in designing policy concerned with building relationships with employees on collective / individual basis, encouraging involvement and participation and handling major initiatives such as improved flexibility and redundancy. The role of an Employee Relations Manager is crucial in any organization. He or she of responsible in developing policies and procedures and also administer the do’s and don’t’s in a company. Therefore the employee relations Manager is obliged to take a holistic approach where consultations with concerned or present stakeholders should take place on a regular basis. The formulation of these policies and initiatives should have a foundation built on direct stakeholder consultation. 5) How has the decision making and operations of the chosen organization changed due to the challenges imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic Covid-19 has made a drastic impact on organizations around the world. Every decision has to be made inconsideration of the worst case scenario. Company budgets has had a major hit as many companies has lost major sources of income. Therefore decision making and operations is done as follows: o Contingency Plans o Strict monitoring of finances o Prioritizing business activities. o Minimizing expenses based on company operations. o Monitoring workforce size o Reducing working hours due to inability to fully pay staff wages. 6) Does HRM lead to improved organizational performance? In the modern workforce, HRM plays a vital role in organizational excellence. From being an administrative arm of organizations, HR plays a more strategic role in the modern organization. The type of talents acquired, management of human capital and proper training and development are key factors which HR is obliged to fulfill in order to improve organizational performance.
