PROGRAMMING ELREST PLC ON TEREX EXCAVATORS

Programming requirements

1. Laptop computer or PC

2. Downloadtool_281.exe program.

3. Current and correct program version, to suit machine requirements.


• Please ensure that you understand the excavators PLC’s requirements as the correct program
will need to be installed; failure to install the correct program may cause unnecessary delays
with successful installation. Refer to PLC versions Page 6

4. SPS Elrest Programming Data cable (9pin D-Sub female ↔ 9pin D-Sub male (1:1))
P/N 3685323

5. PLC installed in the machine (with key on) or powered up on bench top.
To start programming

1. Connect your Laptop or PC via COM1 and a


data cable (Sub-D cable, 9-pin, 1:1) with the
RS232 plug on the Elrest PLC.

2. Supply your PLC with Voltage (e.g. Ignition key switch)

3. Start the program, “Download.exe, via short cut on the desk top.

4. Once the download program has


started, insure you have a
connection with the PLC, this
can be confirmed by:
a. The indicator light at the
bottom right hand corner
will change to green.

b. Words “Connected to
the device” can be read
in the bottom left hand
corner.

• The configuration of the connection has to be:
RS232, your connected COM-Plug! And
38400Baud

• If connection was not successful the following


can be observed.
a. The indicator light at the bottom
right hand corner will be Red.

b. Words “No connected to the


device” can be read in the bottom
left hand corner.

Other reason for not getting a connection could be


• No voltage supply to the PLC.
• Incorrect configuration to the serial plug
• Incorrect configuration to the driver, the driver has to be configured for “FRED_MX“

• To load the correct file
o “Click” on button next to file window on
Elrest download program

o The select file window will appear

o When you have the required file open,


change the “Files of Type” window to
Binary Files(*bin)

• When the connection was successful and the
required file has been selected click on
“Download“

• The following window will appear:


• The download takes approx. 1-2 minutes and will
be finished after the window has disappeared!

• Please note; at the completion of the


programming, the PLC requires configuring
via the machines BCS.

o Grease container: Yes/No

o Lubrication undercarriage: Yes/no

o Lubrication break time between cycles:


300sec.-2400sec.

o Type of excavator: (important because of


shut-off valves)

o Type of motor: Cummins/Caterpillar
