Session Border Controller

Ericsson Session Border Controller (SBC) is a carrier-class, virtualized product to

guarantee security and interoperability between IMS and other networks both for
signaling and media. SBC provides a single offering for Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Voice
over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), Video over LTE (ViLTE), Rich Communication Services (RCS),
interconnection, fixed VoIP, and web communication solutions.

SBC can be deployed on nearly any x86 hardware in multiple cloud environments, such
as OpenStack, VMware, and Ericsson NFVI. It is also verified on Ericsson software-
defined infrastructure (SDI) and can be delivered as a part of industrialized solutions.

OUR KEY BENEFITS

Cost-efficient control with low media latency and transmission savings
Ericsson’s SBC architecture utilizes centralized control, with the media plane being
handled in traffic hotspots, to enable low media latency and transmission savings.

All business opportunities addressed with a single product

The feature-rich, convergent nature of the Ericsson SBC means that service providers
can benefit from a single product for all needs, resulting in significant OPEX savings.

Fast introduction of customized services and opportunities for innovation

SIP Message Manipulation scripts make it possible to overcome SIP inconsistences
between networks and to introduce customized services and opportunities for
innovation at a faster rate.
