Mazak 640 Restore NC Data

Overview
This procedure will go over how to restore all NC data on a Mazak Fusion control.

Restoring the data will be required if the control has been reinitialized due to the battery has died, SRAM
is corrupted or CPU card is replaced.
NOTE: It is recommended to go into privileged mode and press estop prior to restoring data.
Once data is reloaded: home positions, tool data, offsets, orient position and machine function should be
verified prior to performing tool change or running machine.
If a current or any backup cannot be found, OEM will need to be contacted or data typed using the
machine hard copy of parameters.

machines with Mitsubishi controls and store the data on our secure server. You can then access them 24/7 through our

Tools Needed
• Optional (floppy disk, IC card or USB)

Instructions
I. Restoring Data using DATA I/O

A. Press [DATA I/O]

B. There will be a choice of CMT, Tape, Hard Disk, Floppy or Card. Select the device to use.

C. Press [DIR. SELECT] to select your directory.

D. Select the directory that has the backup to load back into the NC and click on OK.

E. Press [(media) CONTENT]


Note: This will bring up the files that you have saved in your backup of the selected directory, if
you would like to load only specific files then you can skip using the CONTENT button and go
to step I and select those individual files by using the arrow keys and pressing input.

F. Press [START]
Note: Anything that gets highlighted in blue is in the backup file, anything that is not highlighted
is not in the backup and will have to be entered manually or obtained from another backup.

If using the HDD, the backups can be found in T_backup or MC_backup folders located on the
C:/ drive. Look in the folder labeled Other and you can check the backup folders to verify when
the backup data was created and what data it contains.

G. Press [NC<(media) LOAD]

H. Select [ALL CANCEL] and press input.

I. Cursor down to USER PARAM and M. PARAM by pressing arrow keys and press [Input] to
highlight them.

If the control was not initialized and the User / Machine parameters do not need to be loaded,
ie any of the other data needs to be reloaded, highlight the desired data and press [START].

J. Press [START]
You will see the white arrow in the middle of the screen flash purple and all the items in the
right that were highlighted will go to the left.
K. Cycle power to activate parameter settings.
L. Press [DIAGNOS]
M. Press [DATA ERASE]
N. Using the arrow and input keys, check all fields.

O. Enter value -9999 on the bottom right corner of the screen and press the [APPLY] button.
Wait until the DATA ERASE window disappears.
P. Load all remaining data from backup using previous steps A thru I and then cycle power.
Do not load the User and Machine parameters again, only (Tool Data, Tool File, Tool Offset,
Cutting Cond., Work Offset, Macro Var., Add Wpc & Maintenance).

II. Restoring Maintenance Data and SRAM using Maintenance Tool

A. Access the Maintenance Tool


1. Bring the mouse pointer to the bottom left of the screen.
2. Right click on the Windows 'START' button.
3. Click on 'EXPLORER'
4. Access the 'MAINTE' folder which is located under the C:/ drive.
5. Double click on 'mainte.exe'.
B. Restore Maintenance Data
Note: You only need to load Maintenance data if options were lost, if only Parameters lost this
step is not required.
1. Click on 'MAINTENANCE'
2. Click on (<) that is pointing towards the NC
3. A message will appear asking if you are sure you want to restore data from backup file.
Click Yes and the file will be restored.
C. Restore SRAM Data
1. Click on the 'BACKUP' button.
2. Click on the bottom (<) that is pointing towards 'SRAM' box. Image on next page.
3. A message will appear asking are you sure you want to save data to SRAM.
Click Yes and the file will be restored.

III. Restoring Ladder


Note: Restoring ladder may not be required if only issue was parameter lost, then ladder should still
be stored in FROM and these steps are not necessary.

A. Press [DIAGNOS]
B. Press [VERSION]
C. Press [LADDER MONITOR]
D. Press [TOOL]
E. Press [RUN/STOP]
F. Type in 1 and press (INPUT) to stop the ladder.
G. Press [NC<-HD]
H. Select the ladder.ldx file you will be loading.
If you do not have a ladder.ldx file saved, then one will have to be obtained through Mazak.
I. Click on 'NC<-HD LOAD' button and wait until it is done. A message will appear saying it is
complete. Click ok or press input.
J. Click 'EXIT'.
K. Press the left arrow menu key.
L. Press [END]
M. Power Control OFF/ON to restart the Ladder.
