Cloud Computing is the latest in such innovations that has brought computing power within reach of every organization. Cloud computing describes a new supplement, consumption and delivery model for IT services over the Internet. This model follows that of typical utilities like electricity and water which we have got used to in the past century. It is fair to say that this model is bound to change the faade of IT usage across the world in the immediate near future. Analysts estimate that by 2012, in India, 30% of the organizations (both corporate & SMEs) will move their applications on the cloud. Also, CIOs will be under tremendous pressure to optimize their expenses which will make them to look at cloud as the natural choice in the years to come. Further, according to a recent study by Zinnov Management Consulting, the global cloud computing market is estimated to touch over $ 70 billion by 2015 with an offshorable piece of about $ 20 billion, of which Indian IT companies are well placed to grab 30% by building applications on the cloud platform, doing support work, or product engineering etc., Further, cloud-based services are estimated to create over 3 lakh jobs in India in the next five years. This three day workshop on Cloud Computing, organized by the Computer Society of India and IEEE Computer Society, provides a platform in which experts from top notch organizations that are rewriting computing history such as Yahoo, Google, HP, IBM, Amazon, HCL, TCS, Hitachi, Netmagic, VMware, Novell, CSS Corp, Ramco, Trend Micro, Cognizant, Zscaler and Zoho will share their experiences apart from introducing various aspects of cloud computing.
