Model D... Servomotors Safety

2.3 Safety in General

The "Safety" chapter gives you an overview of the safety aspects you must pay
attention to in order to work with the product safely. Any individual who assembles,
installs, mounts, commissions, operates and/or does maintenance on the product
described must read and follow the instructions in this chapter carefully to avoid
physical injury and material damage. Your safety is at stake.

In addition to these general safety instructions you will find specific safety
instructions in the product documentation related to individual actions or
procedures.

Only if you follow all of the safety instructions will you be able to provide the best
possible protection for yourself, your colleagues and the environment by ensuring
that the product functions safely and reliably.

In addition to this, it is imperative that you comply with the accident prevention and
safety regulations of the country you are working in.

2.4 Intended Use

The product supplied must only be used in a coherent plant configuration. A plant
configuration is coherent if the product supplied is the equivalent of the plant
component it replaces or it is used according to the manufacturer's specifications.
You can verify this by checking the technical data given in this document.

2.5 Limitation of Liability

SAACKE shall not be held liable for damage resulting from any use of the product
other than its intended one, from ignoring the documentation or from operation by
inadequately qualified staff. The risk in this case lies with the operator / plant
authorities alone.

2.6 Qualified Staff

Warning!
Risk of physical injury and damage from incorrect operation!
The plant authorities must ensure that only qualified and authorized staff works
with the product.

Qualified staff in the context of this documentation are individuals who have the
training that enables them to handle the product described and are authorized by
the plant authorities to assemble, install, mount, commission, operate and/or do
maintenance on the product.

2.7 Electrical Hazards

Warning! Risk of death from electric shock!

Damaged lagging or live components that are not covered correctly present a risk
of death from electric shock!

Warning! Risk of death from electric shock!

Carelessness can lead to an electric shock.
This is why when you work with electrical equipment, you must always first:
1. Disconnect each piece of equipment from the mains.
2. Secure it to prevent it from being switched back on.
3. Check that the equipment is de-energized.
4. Ground the equipment and short-circuit it.
5. Cover other components/equipment nearby that are energized.
6 Secure the danger zone, for example by blocking it off and/or putting up a
conspicuous danger sign that no one can overlook.

Model D... Servomotors Transport, Storage and Packing

Transport

3 Transport, Storage and Packing

3.1 Checking the Delivery

SAACKE products are packed and checked before they leave the factory.

 When the product is delivered, first check whether the packaging is intact. This
would be the first indication that it has been transported correctly.

 Check the product for transport damage.

3.2 Reporting Transport Damage

If damage has occurred during transport, follow these procedures:

 Record the transport damage on the freight documents and take a

photograph and/or make a sketch of it.
 Have the person responsible for the delivery (for example the truck driver)
confirm that the damage was noticed by signing the freight documents.
 Report the transport damage right away to SAACKE or whichever company
supplied the product.

3.3 Instructions for Storage

 Only store the product in its undamaged original packaging.

 Keep all components, especially electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic components,

dry, free of dust and at their correct temperature during storage. The relative
humidity must be below 80%.

3.4 Disposal of the Packaging

 Dispose of all packaging correctly and ecologically.

 When you do it, comply with the waste disposal regulations of the country in which
you are working.

3.5 Disposal of the Product

At the end of its service life the product must be disposed of correctly and
ecologically. When you do it, comply with the waste disposal regulations of the
country in which you are working.

Scope of Delivery Model D... Servomotors

4 Scope of Delivery
Scope of delivery includes the following items

 the servomotor
 this document

5 Function
SAACKE servomotors are important components of a burner and/or a firing plant.
They are interlocked with the following actuators and activate e.g.

 A mechanical compound regulation

 Air control dampers
 Fuel flow controller
 Stabilizing disk travel mechanisms
 Flue gas dampers

All servomotors are connected electrically to the burner control system. They
feature signaling devices (signal switches / potentiometers) which signal the
position of the servomotor - and therefore also the position of the activated actuator
- back to the burner control system.

In this way the servomotors not only move the actuators, but also supply the burner
control system with the required feedback on their current position.

Model D... Servomotors Variants

6 Variants
The servomotors are available in different sizes and variants. Below you will find an
overview of the features.

6.1 Nominal Torque

Depending on the size, SAACKE servomotors have a different nominal torque on
the driven shaft.
Variant Torque
D 006 6 Nm
D 025 25 Nm
D 040 40 Nm
D 040h 60 Nm
D 100 100 Nm

Table 1: Torques of different servomotor variants

6.2 Rotation Angle

SAACKE servomotors are available with different rotation angles of the driven
shaft. This maximum rotation angle is documented on the rating plate.
It is either 90° or 120°.

6.3 Air Conditioning Equipment

The servomotors D 025 / 040 / 060 / 100 can also be fitted with a heater and a
double cover. This "air conditioning equipment" is required if the servomotor is to
be used outdoors or at temperatures below 0 °C.

The air conditioning equipment cannot be upgraded. Contact SAACKE Service

GmbH if the existing servomotor is to be replaced with a servomotor with air
conditioning equipment.

6.4 Actuation Time

The actuation time is that time which the servomotor requires to move the driven
shaft over the entire rotation angle (by 90° or 120°).
1
Actuation time in s
Model Rotation angle 90° Rotation angle 120°
D 006 64 85
D 025 66 88
D 040 66 88
D 040h 66 88
D 100 60 80

7 Maintenance
All servomotors are maintenance-free.

In principle the servomotors D 025 / 040 / 040h are constructed identically and look
identical. The only difference is the torque. Therefore, they are described jointly in
this chapter.

8.4 Position Indicator (D 006 / 025 / 040 / 040h only)

The servomotors D 006 / 025 / 040 / 040h feature a position indicator. The position
indicator consists of a position indicator and a window in the cover of the
servomotor.

The position indicator is connected positively to the driven shaft of the servomotor
and can be turned on the shaft. For this reason the position indicator is not "fail-
safe".

Reading the position indicator

You can use the position indicator to determine the position of the actuator, even if
you cannot see its position directly.

STM011
Fig. 6: Position indicator (example D025, rotation angle 90°)

Depending on the variant, the servomotors with position indicator have a rotation
angle of 90° or 120°. Depending on the direction of rotation of the motor, the
position indicator rotates either clockwise or anti-clockwise.

 Look vertically onto the position indicator to read the scale.

Note
In the lower limit position of the actuator ("Closed" position) the indicator is 0°.

8.5 Driven Shaft

All servomotors have a driven shaft in the form of a "U shaft". This shaft shape
enables the servomotor to be mounted in a clear, defined position. It transfers high
torques reliably.
