ENGLISH (Second Language)
(Full Marks - 50)

For Bengali Medium Boys:


1. Comprehension test on a simple passage.
2. Answering simple questions on pupil’s immediate environment and everyday life.
3. Simple Bengali sentences to be translated into English on present, past and future tenses.
4. Simple English sentences to be translated into Bengali.
5. Parts of speech and their examples.
6. Use of questions: Is, Are, Am, Do, Does, Did, Have, Has, Will, Was, Were.
7. Assertive and interrogative sentences and their transformation.
8. Vocabulary test through changing number and gender. Spelling tests – simple antonyms
and synonyms and framing sentences with words.
9. To re-arrange jumbled up words and sentences.

For English Medium Boys:


1. The course for the Bengali Medium (excluding item nos. 3 & 4 viz. translation).
2. Writing of a paragraph on a simple topic in 10 sentences.
3. To re-arrange jumbled up sentences of a story sequencing it.
4. Answering in complete sentences to questions in English on matters well within the
range of the pupil’s experience.
5. Vocabulary tests through:
a) Matching b) Opposites c) Changing number d) Changing gender.

MATHEMATICS
(Full Marks - 50)

1. Basic operation (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division) of the whole


numbers, decimal numbers and easy fractions.
2. Rules of divisibility.
3. H.C.F and L.C.M. of whole numbers.
4. Unitary Method.
5. Metric System of Weight, Length and Indian Coinage: their application in simple
problems.
6. Ratio and Proportion
7. Problems on Simple Interest
8. Areas of squares and rectangles.
9. Simple problems on Average, Percentage, Profit & Loss.
