ACTIVITY

INSTRUCTIONS:

I. Identify the different

lines that are in a
badminton court and label each one of them
together with its measurements.
II. Give the purpose or the use of the lines you
label in a badminton court.
Length: 13.40 meters (used for both singles and doubles event) Width: 6.10 meters
for doubles; 5.18 meters for singles.
➢ At the beginning of the game and when the score is even, the server serves
from the right service court. When it is odd, the server serves from the left
court. If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the
same server serves again from the alternate service court.

The net or nets are made of fine dark green ropes.

Length: 610 cm.
Width: 76 cm.
The white ribbon on the top of the net measures 3.8 cm.
➢ The Badminton Net is the central gameplay element in a game of Badminton,
requiring players to return the shuttlecock from one side of the court to the
other during the match.

➢ Center line: It is a line running perpendicular to the net from the short service
line to the baseline dividing the court into equal left and right service courts.

➢ The singles side-lines indicate your left and right boundary. The singles lines
are 18 inches closer to the middle of the court than the doubles lines. A rally
ends when the shuttle touches the playing surface in bounds or a fault is
committed.
➢ The double side lines are the outermost lines form the doubles court. So, in a
doubles rally, the shuttle is allowed to land anywhere on the court.

➢ Long service line: The line, which the serve should not cross, to be legal is
called the long service line. The base line or the back boundary line serves
as the long service line for the singles play. A line two and a half feet inside
the baseline serves as the long service line for doubles.
