Dear Governor Holeomb,
Thope you are well and that your economic development trip to Europe has been successful. Kentucky is
certainly benefitting from this robust economy, and I know Indiana is as well
Tam writing about the tolling of the bridges that join our two states in the Louisville and Southern Indiana
area. This is why I reached out for a phone call while you've been away.
Recognizing and understanding the concer we share for our citizens and the traveling public, Iam
writing to ask that you join me in calling on the KY-IN Tolling Body to act immediately to hold the
annual Louisville Bridges (RiverLink) toll rate increase to the lowest level possible.
By current Tolling Body policy, the toll rates automatically increase cach July 1 by the higher of 2.5% or
the Consumer Price Index. For the first time in five years of tolling, the annual rate increase will exceed
2.5%. Under the current policy, by March CPI, the toll rates will increase on July I by 8.5%.
‘An annual increase of this magnitude was never envisioned when the Tolling Body set the policy.
Kentucky needs no more than a 2.5% increase to meet its debt service, maintenance, and operational
obligations in FY 23.
Given the need to provide adequate notice to the Toll Service Provider and the public, itis critical that the
Tolling Body meet immediately to consider holding the rate to the lowest possible level that would allow
both States to meet their unique obligations.
Please join me in asking the Tolling Body fo meet as soon as possible to consider minimizing any
unnecessary burden on our bridge users,
Sincerely,
Andy Beshear
Governor
