3. REASON
The purpose of this AOT is to inform A318/A319/A320/A321 operators of potentially defective Safran fuel
pumps P/N P99C38-605 that must be removed from service and returned to Safran.
3.1 FACTS
Safran informed Airbus of a number of fuel pumps Part Number P99C38-605 identified which could be
subject to a quality issue and which may be installed on aircraft. Following strip down by Safran of one of
the potentially affected P99C38-605 pumps, the locking key of the impeller drive shaft was found loose in
the cavity under the impeller.
Safran fuel pumps P/N P99C38-605 are not installed in Airbus production since June 2015.

3.2 CONSEQUENCES
Incorrect installation of the locking key in an affected pump in combination with the pump operation not
fully immersed in fuel could compromise the fuel pump integrity and could result in an in-tank ignition.

ALERT OPERATORS TRANSMISSION - AOT
NOTE: The accomplishment instructions of this AOT include procedures given in other documents or
in other sections of the AOT. When the words ’refer to’ are used and the operator has a procedure
accepted by the local authority he belongs to, the accepted alternative procedure can be used. When
the words ’in accordance with’ are used then the given procedure must be followed.
NOTE: The access and close-up instructions, not comprising return to service tests, in this AOT do not
constitute or affect the technical intent of the AOT. Operators can therefore, as deemed necessary, omit
or add access and/or close-up steps to add flexibility to their maintenance operations as long as the
technical intent of the AOT is met within the set parameters.
Perform a check of the fuel pumps installed on aircraft. If any of the serial numbers of the fuel
pumps Safran part number P99C38-605 referenced in Table 1 is installed on an aircraft, this
pump must be removed in accordance to the accomplishment timescale specified in section 4.1.1
of this AOT and must be sent back to Safran at the address given below.
Check if any of the serial numbers of the fuel pumps Safran part number P99C38-605 referenced
in Table 1 is currently in stock. If any of fuel pumps serial numbers referenced in the list is
identified in stock, this component must not be installed on aircraft and must be sent back to
Safran at the address given below.
Send to Safran any affected fuel pumps S/N referenced in Table 1 at the following address:
Contact : [email protected]
Phone: +33 4 77 90 71 05
NOTE: Any of the affected pumps can only be re-installed on an aircraft following embodiment of
a Safran VSB once available.
NOTE: A review of aeroplane delivery and maintenance records is acceptable to make this
determination, provided those records can be relied upon for that purpose and the P/N and S/N
of the Safran fuel pump can be positively identified from that review.
NOTE: Refer to Table 1 in the next page for the list of potentially affected S/N.

Within 10 days or 50 FC of the effective date of this AOT, whichever occurs later.
For aircraft in parking or storage in accordance with AMM ATA10, engine run, defuel and ground transfers
are prohibited until this AOT is accomplished.
4.1.2 MANPOWER
The estimated time for fuel pump removal-installation is 1 MH per fuel pump.
4.2 DESCRIPTION
Remove and replace any identified Serial Number in Table 1 with a fuel pump not listed in Table 1.
There are 6 fuel pumps on A318/A319/A320 prior to MOD 154327, 2 in each wing tank and in the centre
tank (refer to Figure 5).
